Pat LaFrieda’s Chop House at Citi Field
I’ve been going to this restaurant for a few years.
2 years ago the menu was very good and desserts where much much better.
Cone in a glass was a favorite.
I attend 10 to 15 games with a group of guys & there dates a year and always eat in the Chop house. Pricing is better then the Porsche club but the menu is limited. After you dine there 5-6 times you completed the menu and have no other choices.
Please have a better menu next year or we’ll have to go elsewhere.
Loyal Met and Chop house fans
The menu selections are ok but a fish dish would be a nice addition. Pat Lafrieda is famous for its cuts of meat. Why do they serve an overpriced ($64) fatty ribeye. Hard to believe that this is LaFrieda’s best foot being put forward. The meatball appetizer and chicken wings were excellent.
The wedge salad was excellent and would recommend. Surprised to find out when we asked for bread for the table we were told that they don't serve bread. Never heard that before in a chop house. I ordered the half chicken and normally this will be a half chicken including thigh leg etc.. on the bone. What was served was 2 chicken cutlets. Was disappointed but wanted to go to the game and not wait for another dish. My wife had the chicken sandwich which she thought was very good. Also the fries were excellent.
As options at Citi Field go, it's probably about the best. But it's kind of like the business class lounge at the airport -- the food is only slightly better than the options for the general public and it's still much more crowded than you would have assumed since it's actually open to many more people than you would expect. By steakhouse standards, it's pretty mediocre. I'm not sure why the ask your temperature preference since they pretty much overcook everything. Basically, the only thing you can really say is that it's better than Coach.
Convenient because it’s in Citifield but not a top flight steakhouse by any stretch of the imagination. I had the steak and it was a quality piece of meat but wasn’t cooked properly. The wait staff try’s but either too busy or understaffed. Drinks were weak and overpriced. I don’t mind paying but light pours and $11 Budweiser’s.
Ordered a burger medium-rare, it was very well done. It did not even come with the ingredients that was listed on the menu. Menu very limited and our server was very nice but they seemed very understaffed.
Solid and unpretentious. The best place at Citifield to entertain
A long wait for drinks and food. Small portions, fair quality and hi prices.
Good but not great food. Decor/ambience is poor. Not equivalent to NYY steak in any regard, but a nice sandwich at a ballpark. Ballpark prices too.
We had a great meal before the game and the staff was extremely courteous and attentive. Recommend
Nice spot to enjoy very decent food before a game.
Nice place to chill after the "hassle" of getting to Citi Field although "fans" can be loud.....
Good attentive service.
Very nice restaurant with good food and good service with a friendly staff.
I had dined at the Steakhouse at Yankee Stadium on two prior occasions, and was expecting a similar experience. Pat LaFrieda's Chop House reminded me (decor-wise) of the breakfast room at a Hampton Inn! If there had been a view of the stadium, the field, or ANYTHING, I might understand it. The decor and ambience is non-existent. The menus are printed on single sheet card-stock (no cover) and are VERY VERY limited. The wine list is the same, and the staff is not familiar with either. I felt like I was at an airport restaurant, although they usually put more thought into the decor! I get it ... I was at a ball-park; what was I expecting?!!! I'm a Met fan, and it kills me that the Yankees got it right!
good option before the game, a bit more upscale than your normal stadium food. A bit too noisy, TV was turned up too loud.
I have been going to this restaurant since Pat LaFrieda took over and each year I think that it is going to get better, service-wise....It never does...I just don't get how a place can not be prepared to service their patrons adequately: especially on OPENING DAY!!! It is the same thing every year...I get there at 11:30am for a 1:10 game and it always a rush to get to see the first pitch, always having to miss the pre-game opening day ceremonies...Just about everyone around us had the same complaint....I am certain that you will not do anything about it because if you were inclined to, you would have done already...The difference is that you will not get another shot at it next year with me and my 3 grown up sons...
Great view of Citifield. The service is good and food is good fir a ballpark. The champion burger is very good though. Always a great day at Citifield.
Overpriced for the quantity served. The service was outstanding.
Great placed to go before a NY Met game. Food is consistently good. I really love the steak sandwich with onion rings. It's just delicious!
The food is usually good and the pre-game meal time is usually packed. Steak sandwich and the pretzel are consistently good. Its best to make a reservation through Open Table. Without the reservation they may turn you down even if there is open seating. With the reservation that is never a problem. If you go to the back corner there is glass where you can look down into a batting cage and there is sometimes opponents taking batting practice. Usually the best players are the ones practicing taking BP (probably why they are the best).
Great food and service
We had a 5:30 reservation which was the earliest available. We arrived and were the second party seated. Water came immediately. Then we waited, waited, waited and waited some more. There were waiters and waitresses all standing around but no one came to our table. After a considerable and frustrating wait I finally went to the hostess and asked if we could be reseated so we could get waited on. The manager went in the kitchen, came out and said someone would be with us shortly. Finally a waitress showed up and said she had been in the kitchen chopping up food and wasn’t aware she had tables. She took our order and that was the last we saw her until I finally was able to flag her down and request another glass of wine. She walked past our table numerous times but never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. I was able to finally get her attention so I could order another glass of wine. A different server brought the meals and wine. The food was awesome but the service was absolutely terrible.
Nice place to eat. Very good food.
Service was very slow and very poor. It took nearly a fully hour to get out food. No apology from our waitress. I got the wedge salad. The blue cheese dressing tastes like it came from a Kraft bottle. I also got the short rib. Again, the sauce tastes like it came out of a bottle from the grocery store. I would not call this fine dining at all and for the price, I will not do it again.
Steak sandwich was excellent.
Good place for real food at citi-field
Very good burger. We both had the brunch burger and found very juicy and flavorful. The side salad was very fresh and the dressing was good and made a nice touch instead of fries. Will stop in again when in for a game. Hopefully the Mets will win next time
Burger and steak sandwich meat was bland and tasteless.
Perfect before the game
We were a party of 10. Arrived at 5:30pm for the game. Gave food request promptly. Server pleasant. BUT worst!!! service I have ever had. The drinks were wrong. The appetizers came late and also wrong. The main course took forever. And I mean we missed the opening pitch without dessert. My burger (which was good) came medium well. I ordered medium rare. The restaurant was not busy.
Although we got to the restaurant early and it was fairly empty we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Not a complicated order...all sandwiches.
Is a pleasant alternative to hot dogs st the seats but service should be improved.
Filet sandwich was excellent
Loaded fries were awesome
great food. however TV was too loud and a bit distracting.
I went there with my father to watch the Mets game and have a sit down meal at the ballpark. Food was great, service was outstanding. Food was pricy but it was at a ballpark so that was to be expected.
Food was nothing special and certainly not worth the price. Waitress was pleasant however, we waited quite a while though there were only 4 other tables occupied at the time. Waited even longer for our check to arrive so we ended up being late to the start of the game even though we were seated 2 hours before the start of the game! 4 burgers and coffee shouldn't take 2 hours
We decided to try the restaurant as Club Access came with my Tickets. The restaurant was very hard to find ( we asked 3 different Citi employees; and they could not tell me where is was or what floor it was on!) Pat LaFrieda's chop house was nice; once we found it. The Ambiance and service was very good and we did not wait long for our food. The food quality was OK; not great and very over priced ($28.50 for a steak sandwich that was mostly bread & onions) The Total Bill for lunch for 2 people was $152.00 (appetizer, entree, beverage, tax & tip) for about the same price we could have had Steaks at the Porsche club at Citi Field.
Overall save yourself the headache and price and get burger & fries at the shake shack and eat in your seat.
Great ambiance and wonderful food. Please remember that you need game tickets in order to eat there. Also you need to contact a concierge employee to give you access to the Delta Sky 360 area if you do not hold a ticket that have that advantage.
took over an hour to get our food once we ordered. Missed three innings of the game.
Quality of the food has gone down. My filet mignon steak sandwich was full of fat. Never used to be like that. Also used to get chips on the table prior to meal. Now you don't get those or even any bread.
Visited the Chop House primarily because it was convenient to our seating for the Mets game. Until a couple of years ago, my guests and I enjoyed coming here for a pre-game tradition. However, the menu (both food and beverages) is much more limited than it used to be. While the food is very good, and the service attentive and friendly, we probably would opt for the Porsche Grill because of the wider variety of choices (assuming it hasn't changed much from when it was the Acela Club), if it were not so far from our seats.
probably the best value of all pre-game dining options at Citi Field; been there several times and very consistent; consistently good; wouldn't mind seeing them change-up the menu a bit though - adding more selections would be a plus
