Pleasant welcome by staff great service food well presented and prepared.

Expensive meal for everyday Italian food, one member of our party had fillet steak with pepper sauce it arrived with a selection of 5 sauces which when we looked puzzled the waiter said were free to try, when the bill came we had been charged £1 for each sauce. Didn’t complain as didn’t want to spoil good night out, then saw we automatically had to pay 10% service charge even though there were only 3 of us, not what you expect from a chain restaurant nice as it is !!!

This is one of my regular restaurants in the local area. Myself and my wife went there on Wed 25 Apr for an early dinner. It appeared that it wasn't a good dining experience -- The waiter was relatively new and misunderstood our request on the Florentina Pizza where we wanted "soft egg" but ended up a poached egg; Our mains were a bit disappointing from their usual quality too -- the both pasta dishes were too soft (overcooked), and the shell fish weren't fresh with strong fishy smell.

Service was really bad waited an hour for our mains. After our starters the waiters didn’t come to check on us or ask us how is our food or would we like drinks. Food wasn’t the best for the price being charged and the overall service was really bad I think they were understaffed and wasn’t expecting it to be so busy for a Thursday night and forgot it was the start of a bank holiday.

Nice venue with cosy seating on the new front extension, good quality food and service.

Service at this place is amazing and the food was gorgeous

The staff were very attentive as soon as we walked in the door. They took our coats and we were seated quickly and had an excellent waiter called Giuseppe. I’ve been here before but they always keep me coming back because it’s just that good.

Was pleased with the meal, nice seating area, but when I got there they couldn’t find my booking which I booked on line, but they found us a table.

Very nice authentic Italian neighbourhood restaurant!

We chose from the set menu as it looked good value. Our first choice, prawns, was not available which was disappointing. For this reason, I have rated the food as very good instead of outstanding. However, absolutely no complaints about anything. We will be back.

Nice food friendly staff, some of whom sadly didn't speak particularly good english, making it difficult at times to get requests across.

Unfortunately my pasta meal which tasted lovely was luke warm, the staff had been so attentive and chatty I didn't want to spoil the evening by complaining. There is a terrible draft from the door which automatically opens when someone walks near both inside and outside. The music level makes conversation difficult at times. Food is usually good and I would go again

Menu is over-complicated. Food fair - but fritto misto tempura was too bubbly and greasy.
And yet the portion for 2 was very big. Better mix of seafood and bettere tempura and smaller portion, please. Needs proper tempura cold batter. Lemon sole was big and good value but not the super-freshest. Not great to have to watch manager ordering and overseeing cleaning of bar area in full view of diners on a Sunday night - made it seem this was really maintenance time while they sell a few tables on a slow Sunday night in January. Biggest criticism is non-inclusion of service charge in bill. Our bill for 5 was £193-odd so we paid a hefty tip that probably wasn't justified given the service was 'normal', nothing special . Paying extra for service makes your prices seem high - and we are used to paying London prices. An automatic sliding door for the main entrance is a down-market signal. Seems like entering Argos or a supermarket. I'm sure full-on and with families in, this place can rock. But we came on perhaps not the best night and got less than we expected as an experience.

We had Fritto Misto to start, it was very oily and the main courses was luke warm. As there were only 3 tables dining at the time, including ours, we were very disappointed at the quality of the food it definitely could have been better.

Service could have been better... staff not very attentive, waiting time to order took forever and we had to ask a member of staff to come over ...

Everything was great as ever except the waiter who met me on arrival couldn't seem to find my booking and wasn't very helpful. However when the front of house team arrived everything was fine and we were welcomed, coats taken and escorted to our table. After which the service and food were as good as usual.

Always a great experience at the Didsbury restaurant.

Food was good and on par with expectation having eaten at a few Picolinos before. The restaurant is acoustically very loud though, felt I needed to shout to speak with my friend. Was also very hot and stuffy.

Booked here for a friends birthday. The restaurant, food & staff were all fabulous. Would definitely recommend. Provided a birthday desert for my friend which was the perfect end to lovely evening

Great menu with an extensive choice to suit everyone. The food was all excellent, hot and delicious. Sat on the terrace under the heaters which was fab. Staff were very attentive. Would recommend.

Although service was friendly...I had to send back my main dish of tuna as it was very very salty. They took half the value of the meal off the bill. Very noisy but atmospheric

Went on Sunday evening, and were promptly sat down with menus and our drinks order was taken quickly.

That was the end of the good service. All tables around were given bread , we had to ask and it was twenty minutes before it finally arrived . Started which were a cold platter so why it took so long after ordering I cannot understand arrive. The quality was excellent , but why did it take so long. The table next to us had their starters and were on their mains. After 20 mins of sitting there with empty plates , another tables main was offered to us. Plates taken and a further 30 mins wait for two pizza' s and salad . Which again were excellent . But the wait??? Then we were asked would we like to see the dessert menu, yes please as the table next to us had finished theirs and the look lovely. 10 mins later no menu, so we gave up , got the bill paid and left .

Booked a midweek table with my partner at Piccolino and it was an amazing meal. Seated outside under shelter with plenty of heaters to completely forget about the temperature outside. (Blankets provided on the chairs) Food was superb across all courses and the service was polite, friendly and authentically Italian.

Great ambience, attentive staff, superb food, 5 star service.

My favourite local restaurant

Attended for the first time on a Saturday evening with another couple for wife's birthday.... Atmosphere was excellent and food was outstanding! Staff very attentive and sang happy birthday to my wife.... Was a thoroughly enjoyable evening will return soon.

We needed a Sunday evening meal out with lovely food and a friendly, chilled atmosphere to sit and talk - Piccolino provided all that and great service. We do not live locally, but have tried other branches of this restaurant and were not disappointed. Food was yummy, would have been 5 stars but we were sad that the seasonal special had sold out and also that we weren't offered bread and nibbles. Service was very friendly and helpful, and the best bit was that tweet could still sit outside - in mid-November! All in all, a lovely meal and we will return next time we visit Manchester.

good standard of food and excellent service. Nice selection of pasta, pizza, meat, fish and veggies. Love the fact that (it seems) everyone who works there is Italian. Definitely recommend.

Visited on a Thursday early evening. Staff were attentive and friendly and the food of a good standard and quality. It was a little too noisy for my taste with music played too loudly. Especially as my in-laws have mild hearing impairments so conversation was a little difficult.

I go to this restaurant regularly with my family and we are always looked after impeccably well. This time I went with two girlfriends and we were met with a very warm welcome, superb and attentive service throughout the evening. Food and drink was excellent. We sat outside on a warm evening. If I shut my eyes I could even pretend to be in Italy!!

Excellent food service was brilliant the best we have probably ever had from any restaurant and we have been to many over the years.

It was a special occasion my wifes birthday although we didn't mention it in advance of booking the staff must have picked up on it as they sang Happy Birthday to my wife presenting her with a delightful desert, which was a lovely surprise for us all.

Although not the cheapest restaurant the whole dining experience was superb from beginning to end.

We have eaten at Piccolino's in West Didsbury several times and always enjoyed it. This time was no exception.

We went for my partners 40th birthday and the waiting staff brought out the cupcake I'd secretly left with them after our meal and sang Happy Birthday.

We sat out in the newly refurbished outdoor area which was great, even at the beginning of March. The heaters were great!

Piccolino's food is tasty, varied and good value. Authentic Italian waiting staff top off the experience.

Food was superb best meal out we have had in ages. From start to finish the evening was perfect!

I booked this restaurant for Sunday lunch as a last minute option, but I wasn't disappointed. We all ate off the set menu, which was excellent value for money.
