Went after valentines. It’s a very nice cozy place. Food was great we had the dumplings, fried chicken, calamari, lobster rice, deviled eggs, lamb chops, and drinks. We indulged to say the least. But we all enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu I didn’t get her name but she was so sweet. We have have already planned to visit again to try more items on the menu (the cakes).
I was fortunate enough to get a reservation after checking back several times. Wow. I’m so glad I persevered because my husband and I are just visiting Atlanta and didn’t know when we’d have another chance to dine here. We saw the Lobster Fried Rice on “Best Thing I Ever Ate”. That was no lie. It is among the best things I’ve eaten as well! The surprise hit was the mussels in lemongrass broth that our server, Rolando described as “mouthwatering”. I ate that broth like soup ... it was amazing. Rolando was INCREDIBLE. He made our visit that much more wonderful with his wit, charm and efficiency. The entire staff treats you like a welcome visitor to their homes from the minute you walk in, until you leave. One of my favorite parts is the walk through the expo area to your table. It’s a fun reminder of the heart of restaurant before and after dining. I highly recommend Poor Calvin’s, whether you are visiting Atlanta or reside here. Make reservations for ease, but know that walk-ins are treated courteously and welcomed as well.
Had not been in at least 2 years, but it was still amazing - food quality, service, atmosphere!!
Had 9:30PM reservations and was not seated until 10:00PM.
The restaurant is very small and there were a lot of people waiting to be seated which caused for a congested atmosphere.
Food was pretty good and portions were really good. Overall it was a nice experience but the long wait to be seated, lack-luster ambiance and small venue size took away from the experience. Our server was very nice.
Good Food Even Better Service! Had a reservation and was late and still got a table with no issues.
Joy, our server was amazing & patient
Poor Calvin’s consistently surpasses my expectations when it comes to flavor, ambiance, professionalism, and quality.
The staff is knowledgeable and organized, the interior is welcoming and unique, the cocktails are refreshing & like no other, and the food is outstanding.
This chefs menu is spot on and caters to all!
Lobster Mac - perfect, creamy, piping hot, flavorful, full of lobster
Spring rolls- perfect
Lobster fried rice- my personal favorite!
Lamb chops- perfectly cooked
Pound cake- wow factor
Poor Calvin's was excellent as always. Just about everything on the menu is phenomenal. Simply the best in Atlanta.
We went here for a pre-Fox event dinner in a Wednesday night. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. Location so close to the FOX.
First time at the restaurant before attending show at The Fox. Only negative was the noise level. Food & service were excellent.
Check my yelp review for more. It was outta sight!!
Got there when they first open. Got our seat and ordered our drinks and food with no problems.
I have been wanting to visit for years and finally got there for my Birthday. What a treat it was. Great food and so many choices. I have to go back to indulge more. Awesome experience
Very nice restaurant, cute and Cozy not that big but they make it work! Complimentary parking and delicious food!!!
Nice cool little brunch....
Final date before moving away
We had an absolutely wonderful evening. Our waitress was so delightful and she made our first experience at Poor Calvin's memorable. We will back!
This was definitely a wonderful experience. The food was excellent with large portions of outstanding and innovative food. Our server was very knowledgeable and quite helpful in helping me decide what I could be safe due to my food allergy. I will definitely return again.
I was charged 2 different prices for the same drink Lemon drop At the bar it was &14 and at the table it was $111
Amazing! One of the best restaurants i’ve been to in awhile. Must get the Crispy Beef!
Poor Calvin’s is a refreshing change from the typical restaurant fare. The food is creative, beautifully plated and delicious. The lobster won tons really have identifiable lobster chunks in them!
It was really a great place to eat great food. The desserts are delicious
My manager came in from out of town and asked me to pick the restaurant, so of course I picked Poor Calvin's. They never disappoint!! The food was amazing, the service impeccable, and the drinks were delicious!!! Everyone loved it!!
It was awesome!
We were celebrating a birthday. The service and food was impeccable. Our server Joy was great!
I just brung my wife here for our first time and the food was absolutely amazing. We’ve been to a lot and I mean a lot of of restaurants through out the Atlanta area and this has got to be on our list of top 3. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
My boyfriend met my mother for the first time and everything was great
Always a great experience! One of my favorite places, great cocktails, food and suspension cake.
Great dining experience overall and the food was delicious! We would definitely return.
We had an amazing time and our waitress was fantastic. The food was delicious and would highly recommend
Amazing food, amazing ambience, amazing service. Drinks were.. you guessed it, AMAZING!
Overall awesome experience!!!!
Seated on time. Delicious sangria. All meals very good. Service very good. Loud.
Service and food was amazing! Our waiter Tim was outstanding. We left full and extremely satisfied! Will be back soon!
Service was great. Food slightly expensive but good.
Really loud environment. Several open tables during lunch yet they positioned us right next to another table. And tables really close together. It was loud and difficult to talk while the table next to us was also talking. I felt like we were at a 4-too at times.
Amazing as always! We need a Poor Calvin’s in Austin. ❤️
Celebrated hubby's birthday one a week night. We were seated quickly though it was crowded. Some would describe it as intimate, but I just felt crowded and could barely hear my husband though we were seated close together due to the noise level. . The server was knowledgeable but not extremely attentive. The appetizer came out quickly and was hot. The food took a while to arrive. The coconut brown rice was cold. The crispy beef was tasty but the sauce was all at the bottom of the dish making it dry at the top. My husband enjoyed his lamb chops, be aware of the uncharge to substitute (he chose rice instead of mashed potatoes). Portion sizes were good. Food was decent but pricy, due to the noise level and cramped feeling would only go 1 to 2 times per year.
Love the bartender suggesting new drinks, giving smoky shots and entertaining us with making craft cocktails. And of course James is the absolute best. Love him.
We had amazing service from the moment we walked in. Everyone was very friendly! The decor was stylish; there were lots of windows and comfortable seating.
The food was amazing! Appetizers, cocktails, main course and dessert were all beautifully presented and delicious. The fusion aspect of the recipes made this a unique dining experience. Loved it!
The food was fantastic but the waiter seem to not be able to juggle the number of tables he had to support. He forgot some items we requested from him (drinks, appetizers, salt and pepper) and was slow to make his way back to the table to check on us. Because if the tightness of the tables my dinner companion had her foot stepped on a few times and the noise level was pretty high in the restaurant by the time we left.
