Punch Bowl Social was fun! There are many things to do. The only thing that I was a little disappointing about is they ran out of a lot of foods towards the end of the night, around 930 p.m.
Server gave us our drinks with his fingers IN the drinks. He also spilled a whole tray on two members of our party. My husband was nice enough to take the blame, but he put the entire tray right in front of his face and leaned over him while he was looking the other way. Weird vibe from the water overall. Otherwise - still had a fun time nonetheless. Cool place.
We went on a Saturday night and could not really play any games because there were 2 parties going on and those parties took all the games.
very disappointed and won't be going back.
It’s tough to write a review for Punch Bowl. It has so many positive things going for it and only one negative, but that one thing is kind of a big deal to me. First off, the staff was wonderful. Our server was attentive and cordial. The food was excellent. I had the Mediterranean salad, and it had such a great combination of ingredients that I want to go back just for that. My friends had the shrimp tacos and they raved about them as well. The beer selection could be improved, but you should find something for everyone on it. The only problem with the place is that for a Social Club it wasn’t very social. In fact it was dead. There were only two other groups in the restaurant the entire time we were there. Admittedly, it was a Wednesday night, but it did put a damper on things. I hope word gets out about this place. It has the potential to be a go to bar/restaurant.
Our server, Amy, was awesome!
Food was SOOO pricey, no games were available. It stunk
The crab Rangoon dip was amazing
Food was okay- chicken sandwich had way too much breading, bloody Mary’s were not that flavorful. Loved the upstairs game area by the fireplace- so fun!
Service was awful, but would go back for the food!
Valentines Date. Great service.
It was difficult to tell from the website what we should expect in terms of "family friendly" atmosphere. We were looking for a place that offered table games and other activities for a family of four with younger teenagers (ages 15 and 12). Punch Bowl Social turned out to be a very nice option. We had a spacious booth, a pleasant server, played Jenga while we waited for our food, and enjoyed each other's company. The food was good -- not great -- and the prices were slightly higher than what would be expected of a similar venue. The only real criticism would be the menu, which was fairly limited and lacked some "go to" options for those with slightly less adventurous palettes. (For instance, the only burger on the menu was a two-patty monstrosity.)
Overall, we were happy with the experience, and will consider going back in the future.
For our first time today it was good. I love the breakfast burrito and shrimp burger. The barbacoa was a bit greasy others it would’ve been good. The coffee drink was not hot and didn’t taste well. The waitress was good. Will have to try again at night.
Menu is quite limited. Check before you go. I was looking for more dinner type plates, but generally the menu is geared towards bar food. My mistake for not checking ahead of time. It was just okay for me.
The Punch Bowl Social in Fulton Market is a little nicer, but the Schaumburg location was all-in-all a bad experience. Drinks are very expensive, food was OK (I actually really liked mine, but my three companions said their meals weren't that good), the service was slow. None of this was a big deal, considering we went to play games. Unfortunately, there were several private parties we were unaware of which drastically limited what games we could play. We decided upon ping pong. The ping pong table is in a hallway with utility/electrical closets. The table is severely broken, the paddles are falling apart, and the lighting is something out of a horror movie. It was $13/hr to play in that room. Worst of all, the walkway to the (very) small karaoke closet goes directly around the ping pong table, which is hugely interruptive. We decided to play darts and grabbed a table in front of the darts upstairs. After being there for at least 15 min, an employee of Punch Bowl Social approached us, asked us if we were with the private party, we, of course, said "no," to which she responded "you can't be here!" After that, we left. We spent over $300 for 4 people to be shuffled around a poorly maintained venue with rude employees.
Service was good and food came out fast, we were there right at open.
This was our second time here. First time we went it was super busy and crowded and we didn’t really enjoy it but the second time we went it wasn’t busy and we could actually hear each other talk! The food was good as usual and the waiting staff was okay. Our waiter before was definitely with it but this one was kind of distracted. We had 3 drinks in total. The drinks were great, STRONG, but great. We played a bowling game and that was the end of our visit. We recommend this place to anyone especially those that love having fun!
First: our server was great. Food... not so great, unfortunately. Cauliflower nachos were soft and lacked any pizzazz. Jared salsa. Just Boring. Same with the Brawny Salad - chunks of ingredients thrown in a bowl. Needed finesse and cohesiveness. Knock out burger was soft, soggy and tasteless. My big hungry son wouldn’t even finish it. And the punch cocktails, although tasty were small - rocks glasses filled with ice and a few sips of punch. Good news: the chicken wing app and Salted caramel latte was delish as well as the strawberry milkshake.
It was a good time. Staff was friendly and attentive
I thought it was just OK. The food was nothing spectacular. My tacos have zero flavor. My entire family agreed the fries were the tastiest part of our meals. My kids had fun shooting darts and playing Jenga. It’s too bad the other games were so expensive. This is a cute place for families.
What a great New Year's Eve! They allow kids under 21 until 10 pm. We bowled, played Jenga, board games and more. We took photo's in the booth. The food and service was great! We were able to have a few drinks and the kids had a great time too!!
excellent food. great staff fun games.
Server was great. Food was okay.
Great date place. Good food and drinks. Table games are fun for dates.
We were a group of 6 who went for dinner and games. It's very confusing that you cannot reserve or put your name in for an activity. The hosts didn't quite explain this process at all, and it took many times to get our questions answered. Drinks took 30 minutes to arrive but were very good. The menu has a great variety but execution is poor. The appetizers were very good, but the queso dip was served with about 15 chips, and the plate looked empty, which was surprising because the waitress even commented on it. Why didn't she do that when she picked it up at the kitchen window? All food was auctioned off, and one of the meals didn't arrive. When the manager brought the food, that meal was cold and not the correct way it was ordered (no bread). The chili was good albeit seemed pre-prepared, but was very tasty. I would say the best food on the menu were the Chorizo fries, except it was not chorizo, instead a very dry and under-seasoned type of sausage.
On to the Karaoke lounge, this was very cool. We were in the Domo Arigato room, which was under-decorated and under-ventilated. The Karaoke was super cool to do and very easy to use. Our host sang us her favorite song when we got in!
There were private parties upstairs and downstairs. We couldn’t play any games. What’s the point?? Also every game is so expensive to play. The food is way too eclectic. I will never go back.
The food was decent, and the service from our server was good. However, we made reservations via opentable to come here a month ago, and were excited to play the games. However, we were not allowed to go upstairs or downstairs to either of the game areas since the upstairs and the dows stairs were booked out to two different parties. This was so disappointing on our Anniversary. It put my wife in a very bad mood the rest of the night. They really should notify people when the walk in the door if the game areas are off limits. I don't think many people are going here for the food, its for the food + Games. I would try again, but I would definitely call in advance and make certain no areas are reserved.
I would reccomend for groups and only if the activity areas are available. Unfortunately, the activity area was not available during the time of my visit. The menu is also not widely appealing.
First visit. Disappointing that the full upstairs (where a lot of games are housed) was reserved for a private party. Would have been nice to see that message when you open their Schaumburg location webpage. Food items were limited but everybody in our group of 6 liked what they had (fries were not hot though).
Fun atmosphere, we tried many dishes and the food was great all around. Staff was absolutely wonderful to us.
Great food ! Super busy and the food came out fast !
Our waitress was great and the food was great. We went to celebrate my dads birthday and even made a reservation. After dinner we couldn’t play any games because they had 2 events going on. I wish they would have told us because we would not have gone there if that was the case. This was our first time at the establishment and was not a good first impression. If your customers make reservations, let them know they can only come for dinner if the rest of the establishment is closed to the public.
Most of the space had private events going on and it was a Saturday night. So you couldn't take advantage of all of their so called activities. There are hardly any video games, maybe 7? And they aren't great quality games. Arcade looks like someone's basement. Bowling was ok as long as it is available. Only one 1 was available when we were there. Not really worth the trip
PBSS is a great place with even better food and cocktails. The menu is full of flavorful options delivered in satisfying proportions. However, this place could use some music during brunch hours. Sure, it was a perfect noise level for an intimidate conversation with my best friend. But, some groove shaking tunes would have taken the overall experience to another level. I also love the message in the outside door about “the loving and affirming place for ALL lives,” great touch.
We took our daughter there for her 29th birthday and we're looking forward to having some shakes but the shake machine was broken and it wasn't going to be working for 2 hours. Disappointment for 3 kids that wanted shakes. Probably won't return.
Absolutely phenomenal! We will definitely be coming back! Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere!!!
The food is really good. Bar lounge type of food. Lots of games and activities for an additional charge. Good for a younger crowd. 21+ after 10pm.
Great food and menu. Worth swinging by! Awesome atmosphere!
Had a blast in the karaoke room the waitress was very nice
Good variety of food & drink options. Good entertainment options.
The bar service was excellent and the things to do were great. Once we sat down for dinner, the service was just okay. Food was good.
