20|Twenty - Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa
Fantastic dining experience. All around from the service levels, food, and atmosphere. Ideal for any occasion.
I've been here a number of times with varied experiences. Lovely room, great views, sometimes great service but often times lackluster for being a five star resort. Asked for a booth away from service areas for a business meeting. Got a high top table near the kitchen . . . asked for another. Got a nice booth, no silverware. First waiter brought water . . . then no wait person. Asked for hot tea . . . got a cup of hot water and a teabag, no plate, no spoon, no hot water pot. Asked for silverware, a spoon and more hot water. Ordered an omelette, without ham or bacon . . . was charged $3. more for a special order ($19. for an omelette with potatoes), charged for coffee . . . didn't order coffee. Bill came with lots of issues and incorrect items charged. Sweet waitress finally reconciled the errors but shouldn't have happened in the first place. Food ....omelette was overcooked, sausage looked like cut up chicken meat in the omelette and was white like a processed meat substitute. Other order was Lox and a bagel . . . and was fine, no cooking involved. Not a stellar performance. I keep going back hoping it will be better. Sometimes it is but it is always unpredictable and certainly wasn't the impression I wanted to make for a business meal on a Sunday. Really love the site so I keep hoping!
Excellent dining experience... live music was a bonus!
Very good. Loved the octopus and the mushroom risotto.
We had Appetizer dishes, and the food we had was delicious.
Thank you AndreaR. We appreciate the great 5-star review!
Lip smacking tasty! From our drinks to our meals my husband’s birthday was a hit! We enjoyed our evening by a cozy fire and with a terrific waiter John!
Thank you JetSetJeron for the great review. Hope to have you come back to make it a 5-star! We also appreciate the shout out to John!
Our breakfast entrees were good but not spectacular. My french toast was a little bit dry , but the bacon was very good. My husband's prime rib hash was a little too greasy and had some very fatty pieces of meat. The coffee and OJ were fine, but not outstanding. The fresh fruit plate, shrimp(prawns)cocktail and bagel and lox were truly the shining stars of our meal...delicious! Overall we felt the offerings were a bit pricey. Our service was very good; hostess and waitress were kind, friendly, and helpful. The outside patio was lovely with a wonderful ocean breeze and plenty of nice shade.
Hello DianneH. Thank yu for taking the time to review us! We feel its great you touch your favorites as well as areas of improvement. Come back and visit us again!
Great venue for a special occasion. Would plan to go again.
Thanks for the 5-star review, CharlesA!
Really great food. We stayed there and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and each meal exceeded our expectations. There was a family at a nearby table that lived in the area, which I think speaks volumes as well.
Hi Shjohn1. Thank you for this great review. I am glad you enjoyed dining at 20Twenty. We look forward to your return!
We got to 20/Twenty a little before 2pm on Saturday. No one there. Ideal for us. It was quiet and peaceful. We sat outdoors. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She made our first experience here a positive one.
Our cocktails and lunches were all very good! As a matter of fact, presentation and flavors exceeded our expectations!
We highly recommend you all trying this place out. Price-worthy.
Hello PatzeltsofSC! Thank you for the lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your experience at 20Twenty and look forward to your next visit.
This was a July 4th dinner buffet. The menu lacked any creativity and the food lacked flavor. Service was good. Other meals there were very good but this on failed. Based on the other meals I would give it a higher rating but this review was specifically for this seating.
HI PhilipE. Thank you for your candid review. This information help us plan for upcoming years. Hope you come and enjoy our wonderful service again and try the many items in our daily menus!
Expensive for the 4th of July buffet, but perfect for families that want to watch the Legoland fireworks. It made it a memorable evening without hassle.
One dinner and one breakfast. The dinner was spectacular. A small menu of thoughtfully assembled, fresh, locally sourced seasonal items. Reasonable, well crafted cocktails and fantastic service. Kids meal was pretty sad compared to our meal but still presented well. A pricey splurge (more expensive than our night at the Westin), but it really was the best meal of our week of travels, and we deserved it after a day at Legoland. The sunchoke soup was the shining star, but charcuterie was on point (though I would have liked to know what cheeses I was eating). Breakfast was included in our room with Bonvoy Platinum status, but instead of the offered continental we opted to swap for $15 credits ($30 for two people) and got avocado toast (served on a giant slice of bread), egg white veggie omelet (necessary after the previous night’s cocktails), and an (again) uninspired kid’s three piece waffle (3/4 of a normal waffle for $7). The pesto on the eggs was fresh and flavorful, the potatoes were nothing to write home about. The only disappointing thing about 20Twenty is that I called twice to find out what corkage is. It seems like no one ever asks (at first they thought I was talking about charcuterie). After them asking what seemed like every employee, someone said $40. While it was our anniversary and we brought a nice bottle of wine, cocktails average $12 so we drank the bottle in our room and blasted through two rounds of drinks. #yolo
HI foodlacky! What a great review! Thank you for taking the time, we appreciate reading personal experiences like yours. We look forward to your return and future reviews! Thanks!
Neither of our guests had been there before, they raved about it. The specialty Margarita the waitress recommended was a hit with everyone. Food delicious!
Thank you BarbaraS for the lovely review. We are glad everyone enjoyed!
A beautiful space. For dinner the fish was excellent and the octopus and edamame apps were delicious We had breakfast. Coffee was served without a spoon. Had to ask for salt/pepper. Had to ask for salsa. At 9:15am we’re told it was a 15-20 minute wait when there were only 7 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. They said the kitchen was overwhelmed. Had to ask for Jelly for my Dad’s toast. They had almond milk on the menu in oatmeal but I was denied it for my coffee. Though the coffee bar right next to the 20Twenty had it. I ordered it from there and brought it to breakfast. I would not recommend it. :-(
Loved having our anniversary dinner at Twenty! Such a beautiful restaurant with great food!
Mariam was Fantastic!!! Really enjoyed her attention even though she was extremely busy. Great food and ambiance. Wished the weather was better to celebrate Father’s Day!!!
Thank you for a lovely visit.
Hi CATKAT. Thank you for the review! We are happy Miriam took great care of you. Hope to have you back again!
The food is excellent - fruit, produce, everything was fresh. The waffles are light, fluffy and simply delicious. Everything we ordered was exceptional. I didn't rate it five stars because we waited a long time for our food to be served. We weren't the only ones anxiously awaiting for our food to arrive; there was another table close to us inquiring about the wait time (we arrived before there was a huge crowd of diners too). I would also prefer that the children's entrees included sides - it's basically a la carte. Overall, the food was wonderful despite the slow service.
HI diegogirl. Thank you for the review. I do apologize the service was slower than desired. Hope you give us an opportunity to make it a 5-star next time!
So many things went wrong here. I was very surprised. The beignets were the best thing that happened, my husband liked his prime rib hash, but his bloody marys were ok and inconsistent (missing celery and olive on 2nd one). Our server was visibly overwhelmed and so, also very slow and inattentive. My eggs benedict was over cooked. We waiting nearly 15 minutes for our drinks, another 15 to order. After our food was served, she did come back because we had ordered another drink, but didn't see her again. She passed the main thrufare 3 times never looking our way. I flagged down another server to get the manager. He discounted the meal and took off my meal plus one of my husband's bloody marys. But in truth, I wouldn't come here again. There are just too many other places that have amazing food, better service and ambiance.
Very very very slow service we waited more than 1 hour for our food and restaurant was more than 50 percent empty
Great ambiance. Good food, but small portion size (not worth the $$$$). A bit overpriced in general.
Fine for a hotel restaurant. Was hoping for a little more polish on the food and drinks.
We appreciate the feedback, James. Hope to have you visit us again to make it a 5-star!
Small portions on some items. Seasoning was variable. High prices.
Hi JanG. Thank you for your review, this gives us opportunity to visit our food portions, however, I am glad the service was 5-star! Hope to see you give us another chance!
Nice evening dinner outside.. Reasonably quiet, nice surroundings...
Glad to see you enjoyed dinner with us, Steve! Hope to see you back soon!
It was nice but $360 for 2 adults and 2 kids!!!!! Not sure I would go back only due to price.
Thank you for the feedback, MattS. Your survey helps us find new opportunities. However, We truly hope you enjoyed the food and service at our Mother's Day Brunch!
My family went here for Mother's Day brunch. Service was fair, not very attentive. Server seemed more preoccupied with someone she knew at the table next to us. Had to flag her down to get drink refills. Food was okay, not a wide selection of desserts. We were given a "last call" alert 15 minutes before 3pm which was tacky, never had that at any other $85+ Mother's Day brunch buffet. Probably will not return.
Hello MishaBisha, thank you for taking the time to review. Your input is valued and allows us to find opportunities for improvement. Hope to have you come back and try the restaurant during regular weekend brunch too.
We thoroughly enjoyed Mother's Day Brunch and John out waiter was Fabulous! We will be back!
Thank you, RobynAnnN for the lovely review. We are glad you joined us for mother's day. We are also delighted to hear John was fabulous.
Beautiful restaurant great service. Excellent food. Would have liked more vegetarian/vegan options.
Hello CarlaB, thank you for the kind review, please know your input is shared with our Chef. We will work on creating more V/VG options to our menu. Glad you enjoyed the food and service.
We had a great time!! We were well taken care of from the minute we pulled up!!
We went for brunch and it was not crowded so the noise was not a problem. Food was good, presentation was lovely. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating-I will ask for her the next time I go. She made our lunch fun. Food was tasty.
Hi RItaR! We are happy you came for brunch, we look forward to having you back since we are about to launch some new brunch items that I think you will love. Thanks for the review!
Scott our waiter was professional. This restaurant was a nice surprise and we actually went back 2 nights later! Great wine list as well.
Easter Brunch a must do again
Easter brunch. 4th year in a row. Best oysters all year! Favorite Caesar salad in north county.
Thank you for the lovely feedback!
This was Easter brunch for myself and my daughter and her fiancé. The selections of food were really great. There was a lot of seafood and some excellent crab, oysters and shrimp. The only thing I would say that might have been missing was eggs Benedict. Otherwise, there was a full variety of delicious food.
Thank you, Blondie. So glad you joined us for Easter. Hope to have you join us for Mother's Day Brunch with the family.
Disappointing Easter brunch. Thought it would have been better as a Westin. Have been here at least 5 years in a row for Easter. $85 pp with self serve coffee...tacky to say the least. Ordered bottomless mimosas and had to request a refill, and request to have plates removed. I get it that it is a buffet brunch, but at $85 pp, the service was subpar.
Food was okay, has been better in previous years.
Will likely find a new Easter brunch venue next year.
Great dining experience. We have been at 20/Twenty over the years and they have always met our expectations. this past time, the menu had been updated with some great dishes. We had an outstanding server (Scott H.) who made some recommendations which were fantastic. Great atmosphere and view of the Pacific- Great selections and great service. A gem in Carlsbad!
Thank you for the great review! Hope to have you come back, Anonymous.
Loved the braised pork cheeks, and a delightful Napoleon for dessert. Outstanding service, and no wait on a Wednesday evening.
Hi MarkM. I love the Pork Cheeks too. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and look forward to having you back again!
Over priced mediocre food! Very disappointed! Service was not good. Great view from outdoor patio
Hello MonaL. We're sadden to hear you did not enjoy your time at 20Twenty, however we thank you for the feedback that we will use for training and menu-development. Hope we can have you give us another try.
The food was outstanding Our server was also very good. The restaurant was sterile and cold as though we were in an office or medical building lobby. The lights at the entrance of the hotel were so bright having sunglasses would have been helpful.
HI MichaelR. Thank you for your review! I am glad you enjoyed the food and service at 20Twenty. Hope to have you back again!
