42nd Street Bar & Grill
A great place for a well served excellent dinner. Rice balls as a happy hour special appetizer were excellent. Wait staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. John the owner is involved and cares about his customers comments and suggestions.
I really wanted to love this place. Of course, it was off-season so that may have contributed to the experience. I thought the wine list by the glass was too limiting. I opted for a cocktail but was disappointed. The service worker offered me a replacement and suggested the peach vodka. It was okay but too sweet to be a dinner cocktail, more like a dessert. I ordered the beet salad which was okay but the mussels were not edible. Many were still closed and the ones that had opened were very small and off-color. My friends had the salmon which they said was very good. The final disappointment came at closing out the tab. We opted for separate checks which were appreciated. However, my tab was $30+ change. I gave 2 $20 bills expecting change to leave a 20% tip. The service waiter kept the entire remaining change and didn't even attempt at offering me the balance which I thought was very presumptive.
The name doesn’t go with the ambiance or food. We were very impressed! We recommend and will go back
Food was amazing!!
Tuna appetizer was”fishy”.
Entrees were lacking flavor ( salmon, snapper). Food did not meet our expectations . Menu was GREAT !!
The food and service was wonderful. Could not have asked for a better meal.
Very lovely place. Upscale. Food was different from most restaurants which is good. One concern is that our meals did not come out together. I need my food hot so I had to begin eating alone.
I noticed the same with the table next to us. Something that needs working on. And my plate did not LOOK like the photo!
Absolutely the best meal!! Calamari was buttery soft. Excellent!! Beef Wellington, ribeye and main course were excellent. Lemon cello cake was light and airy. A hidden gem that must be experienced. We made a reservation for tomorrow. Last night in town. Best meal by far.
Excellent experience, food was amazing, service was great! Definitely going back!!
This was a small gathering of high school friends. The service was second to none. Food was on time and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This was a nice find after reviewing other patrons on Open Table. We have lived here for five years now, and really have had our ups and downs with some of the restaurants locally. We literally had the place to ourselves at 5pm, no surprise, and being a little after vacation season. We have to admit we will return !! Appetizers, martinis, wine were outstanding. We asked and received good advice from our waiter, Jason, and followed through on a lovely piece of steak with chocolate truffle paste, and a beautiful red snapper entrée. Dessert was shared. Excellent evening !!
Always looking for new places to eat in the Myrtle Beach area, I stumbled upon this restaurant on open table. Based on the previous reviews, I was excited to try it. I was not disappointed! The food was incredible and the service impeccable. Upscale restaurant food at reasonable prices. I’m afraid once the word gets out, we won’t be able to get in anymore! That’s how great it is. Can’t wait to go back.
The name does not truly define the restaurant. It is so much more than a bar and grill. It is an excellent fine dining restaurant at reasonable prices. Very nice decor and a nice ambience and not noisy.
It’s tucked away in a small strip of stores and easy to miss driving by but well worth the effort to find it.
Excellent. Friendly staff. Wonderful waiter & the owner was also very nice. Dinner was delicious.
We arrived for the week late on Saturday afternoon and decided to give this new restaurant a shot. Boy am I glad we did! Excellent service and food. As a matter of fact it was so good we decided to come back on Wednesday for an anniversary celebration. Again, everything was excellent!
Great find! Food presentation was as outstanding as the meal and the service from Jason. Don’t let the name fool you. The filet was among the best ... maybe even THE best ... we have ever had (and we’ve had it a lot!)
Very nice restaurant, outstanding service with a personal touch. You’ll Enjoy!!!
Wow - can't believe we found this hidden gem!!!!! If you are looking for a quaint restaurant that has amazing food and service - look no further. The pork chop with mashed potato and asparagus was phenomenal! Also loved the ahi tuna and calamari as an appetizer. We took our 4 and 8 year old daughter and they both loved the food! Fortunately, they were very behaved, the restaurant is perfect for a romantic meal or gathering with friends. We will definitely be back!
This was an unexpected find last minute and we will definitely be back. All 3 of our meals were delicious. The prices were very reasonable as well. The services was excellent. A must try!!!
The food and service were both impeccable. The owner came by and spoke with us and really made us feel important. I will definitely be dining at this establishment again!
Impressive! That was my husband’s feeling about the delicious tender filet he ordered for the amazingly inexpensive price. The snapper I ordered was not to my liking, but the quinoa that came with it was scrumptious. We had a delightful dining experience and believe you would too.
I came home and told friends on Facebook how terrific this restaurant was! It should be listed as a Grille and Bar. We ate many of the offerings on the menu: snapper, scallops, chicken, pork chop, lobster Mac and cheese and we have some nightly small eaters and everyone ate EVERYTHING!! We were taken care of exquisitely from the table being ready for 11 of us, water on the table and the most amazing bread and a dipping sauce of pesto, leeks and olive oil. We ordered two appetizers: ahi tuna and beets tartare and there was enough on both plates to share and they were also wonderfully done.
There was only one other table eating while we were there and I mentioned this restaurant should BE FULL OF PATRONS! It is that good. Please try it out!! You will NOT be disappointed!! Entrees are in the $20.00+ but worth every penny!!
Found on internet and gave it a try while on vacation. Very enjoyable. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. I was impressed with the presentation. Owner stopped by and we had a pleasant conversation. Would recommend for a nicer dinner. Had a small bar too. I had a raspberry manhattan that was very good. Pleasantly surprised and very nice.
Best service and taste of any restaurant at the Beach. They are serious professionals, amazing cooks, wonderful mixologists, and kind. Presentation is way beyond expectations- love this place!!
Wonderful place to eat. Food was superb.best steak I have ever eat anywhere bar none. And I have been to all the 5 star restaurants myrtle beach has to offer. This is a must restaurant for everyone to experience. I will return
Family reunion. Food was excellent price was unbeatable. Loved it and would definitely come back
Food and service was great; very accommodating for our group. Would definitely recommend to friends.
The restaurant was great. The food was very pricey and not very good. They use the Sous vide method and my filet was mushy. The owner said it was just extremely tender. Nope! I know tender. I love steak and my filet was horrible with no flavor. My daughters ribeye was skinny and tough. Just be aware before you go and pay $100 for two people.
Excellent choice—food is creative and well served. This will become a Myrtle Beach favorite.
Fabulous dinner. Two of us had the fillet mignon, which was cooked perfectly! The salmon was excellent as well. The bread with butter and onions served at the table is delicious. The ambiance was very nice… Although we got a little dressed up and there were definitely people dressed very casually as well.
We started with the Ahi Tuna, Oysters and Calamari for an appetizer. Outstanding. Great portions and prices. Very fresh.
We had a party of 9 and liked they took a reservation as most places don’t.
Our party had the scallops and beans, the pork chop dinner, the fillet dinner and the lobster mac & cheese. All were phenomenal. The presentation for the fillet with the smoke was top notch. They made you feel very special. The lobster mac & cheese hands-down is the best. The owner Came to say hello which made us feel special. He has owned restaurants here and has been very successful. We will definitely be back. Our new favorite place!!
This was our second visit to 42 street Bar & Grill. So we've have an opportunity to try different dishes this time. I set the pace for our dinner so we could enjoy our meals and friends company. The food and service more than met our expectations.
Party of eight.
What a find! I’m not familiar with the area and was looking for a restaurant with cozy atmosphere, great drinks and delicious food this hit the mark. Service was impeccable, speciality cocktail menu was amazing. I had the Raspberry Manhattan, absolutely delicious. We started off with Fresh Oysters served with three dipping sauces, and the Tuna Tartare. Both were succulent. Our table ordered with a variety of dishes; Beef Wellington, Red Snapper, Salmon, and Chicken dishes. All were prepared perfectly to our liking, served in beautiful presentations and in a timely manner. Everyone in our party raved about the food. We will definitely be back.
Lovely place and a great meal. Ambiance is very nice. Service was excellent.
A gem every dish was spectacular
Flavors so well done
First time at this restaurant, so we tried a glass of wine at the bar, had reservations for dinner. Quiet evening, with Piped in music, was lovely addition. Dining area and bar very nicely done, bar cozy in back. Only suggestion might be changed is the house wine was Woodbridge, not a favorite, a little harsh. (Canyon road alternate maybe?) There is also a food HH menu which sounded very interesting.
Dining experience was outstanding! Each dish ordered was wonderful. We each had a different dish, which made it interesting to see how they were prepared, plus, the other couple ordered the oyster app, we ordered a beet salad, unique and wonderful. Pork chop was great, filet was said to be nice size, cooked right, and tender as butter, scallops were of adequate portion and delicious, and the wellington dish looked fantastic. All in all, we loved it, a nice change from other restaurants in MB, and we will return.
Very nice restaurant . The owner is very friendly.
Menu has many options
Great place to dine
John Lombardo is an impeccable host. This restaurant is more “fine dining” than “bar & grille”. There is a perfect variety on their small menu. Our party of 7 received fantastic service! Each person’s meal was beautifully presented and delicious!
Excellent food and service, we will definitely go back!
Totally not a Bar and Grille!! Great pairings and ingredients compliment each meal! Wait staff are very knowledgeable and attentive. Great dining experience:)
