A Little Bit of Cuba
Food and service was delicious.
Food was great... BYOB which is great, nice atmosphere and was a great little escape from the cold, my husband and I pretending we were in the Cuba, would def recommend.
Little tight given it was Valentine’s Day
An absolutely fantastic spot right in downtown Freehold. The food was amazing the vibe of the spot is stellar! Do yourself a favor and check it out!
Took my wife and 2 kiddos for Valentine's Dinner. Food was incredible delicious, service was great, price was right on target for the quality, amount, and taste (we are vegetarians, almost vegans)! Owner stopped by and checked on us, brought some extra sweet plantains for the kiddos and tres leches dessert. Now, that home made tres leches dessert was the best one ever, and I know about tres leches, trust me! This is a no doubt 5 star Cuban restaurant that everyone must give it a try! Will definitely come back! 🇨🇺🇵🇷
family dinner. empty at 6pm and very crowded at 6:30PM. Appetizers of machonga/shrimp and ropo viejo very good. Main dishes of snapper marascado tasty, but mine came with alot of cilantro, this after i mentioned to the waitreess that i did not want any in the appies. would think she would realize I do not want any in my main dish. they did replace with a new piping hot snapper dish without the cilantro which was very good. Food is good, our waitress seemed a liitle overwhelmed.
Service and food were wonderful.
Great food but there was a very long wait between appetizers and dinner. There was a large group that ordered before us so it's understandable, but was still a little longer than we'd like to have waited.
My birthday! And I had to wait a hour and half for my main entree.
My family & I love to visit this restaurant! Sometimes we bring friends. Everyone has always loved the delicious Cuban food, tasteful decor, attentive service & live music when they have it. We will continue to dine here often.
Excellent as always
The entrees were delicious but we ordered three different appetizers and one was worse than the next. The pork belly was ALL fat, the crispy chicken was dried out, and the chorizo left much to be desired.
Great food, service and atmosphere- We will be back soon!
I am part Cuban and thought this was legitimate cuisine. Very close to my mother’s cooking. Well done.
The restaurant was great overall. The ambiance and the decor were great, too. The service was impeccable. The food was good, but was lacking a little bit of flavor. But, it wasn't enough to not go back.
NYE dinner. Attentive staff. Food came out quickly, but not rushed. Great setting.
We went for New Year’s Eve. The food was delicious. We ordered two appetizers for three couples. The avocado salad was quite tasty and we also ordered the shrimp and sausage kabob. The kabob came with only one skewer which had two shrimps and three very small sausage links for about $13. It wasn’t worth the money. We ordered brisket and plantains for the third appetizer since the other two were not enough. It was delicious.
For dinner three people ordered the pork loin and a HUGE, tasty piece of meat was delivered to the table for each person. My husband loved it. The tuna special with coconut sauce was probably one of the best pieces of tuna I had in a long time.
The service was very good and the seating was quite comfortable. For a night like New Year’s we weren’t rushed at all. Yes
Hands down the best Lechon and Moro I’ve had in a long time. In true Cuban form they got the skin nice and crispy. My Wife really enjoyed her churrasco saying it was extremely tender and flavorful.
The Croquettas were a bit of a letdown, but all things considered we had an amazing meal and will definitely be coming back.
Food was fantastic!! Can’t wait to go back and taste the other great selections!
Date night for us and we love this place. Great food and we love the ambiance.
Middle of the pack for Freehold. Restaurant could use some decor updating. Food was ok, nothing special, paella was too soupy, empanadas not bad, seafood was so-so. Service was attentive, but would be nice to get new set of silverware between courses and the table wiped down as well.
From the service, how cute the place was and how they accommodated my special request on my bday, I couldn’t say enough positive things. And food was very very good and I’m Puertorrican so I’m a tough critic. Will definitely go back!!
$13 for 4 watery “garlic shrimp”? Black bean soup served cold with no garnish, no lime or crema, tasted like someone dumped a can of plain black beans in a bowl. No apologies and complacent management. We were very disappointed in the decline in food quality overall and service. Were long-standing customers, sorry to say we will not be back.
Second time here. Food very good, as it was last time. We ordered about 9 different items, each one was delicious. The service was very good, as well. We’ll certainly be back.
Always a great meal. One of the few restaurants we can always agree on when dining out as a Family.
Great food great service
Been numerous times. Always enjoy the atmosphere and food.
The paella special was very spicy with perfectly cooked rice.
Service was very good and room ambiance lovely. Ordered the paella which was delicious but was almost entirely rice. Could have had a bit more protein. Would try again.
My review is a mixed one since my husband was happy with his dish of the octopus app send oxtail entree, I was less impressed with my Cuban sandwich. My sandwich lacked the pickle and mustard flavor of the classic sandwich. Tasted more like mayo. My biggest disappointment was the tres leches cake. I was looking for a cake that was a little bit light and airy with the milk sauce giving at the right density.
1st time diners. We ordered the recommendation of our waiter for apps w the Mofongo and Shrimp and the Octopus. The Mofongo was cold and when we mentioned it to the waiter, they just microwaived it. It came back hot but totally disgusting. the octopus was slimy, which usually means it is old. I ordered the snapper for dinner. Also tasted like frozen fish It was oily and oddly, zero seasoning. Everything needed a healthy sprinkle of salt. My husband and I were really disappointed to have spent $140 for 2 apps and entrees, no drinks or dessert, and to have the food and service be sub par. The hostess, however, was lovely and the interior of the restaurant is very nice. I would not return.
We live in Southeast Florida, but our favorite cuban restaurant is not in Miami— is here in Freehold, NJ. Everything we’ve had has been delicious! When we come to town, we must eat here at least once, if not more, during our stay. Lovely restaurant and a great place to catch up with friends.
Bring your appetite as food is delicious and portions plentiful. We had the empanadas, salad and entrees of Mofongo with shrimp, along with Lechon Asado (which came with what appeared as 1/2 of a roast pork shoulder!). It is a BYOB so plan accordingly or there is a liquor store across the street. We squeezed in dessert of Flan which was okay (after taking home most of our entrees). Parking is challenging so plan ahead.
We love the food and location. Authentic taste and music!
The food was amazing. Some of the best Cuban I've had - including South Florida restaurants. Service was leisurely, which for us was perfect but some people may have found it too hands-off. Restaurant can get really loud - the acoustics are terrible and there was a large birthday party in the center of the restaurant. Worth it for the high quality of food. This is definitely a small town gem.
Great authentic food. We love the food so we tolerate the below average service which is unfortunate.
Food was good, service was not good. Our waiter was very awkward and made us uncomfortable as he watched and waited for us to pay and sign our credit card slips and basically took the box he put it in ( cigar box) as I was closing it with the signed receipt.
great paella cubano! great avacado salad. flavorless black bean soup.
Food was excellent, too loud for my liking. I dont like to yell during dinner so my family/friends can hear me. Other than that it was a great meal.
