The BEST restaurant in Chicago
We had 4 pm reservations but arrived at 330 and were seated promptly. We started with the luch menu, until 4, and then switched to the dinner menu. We had the bruschetta which is 4 pieces with cheese and prosciutto. Very tasty. we next had the salad special. It was followed by the sausage pizza. I wanted to order the lunch special risotto but since it was after 4 pm it was not available. Disappointing. We ordered our main course from the slightly different dinner menu. The panini is also not available for dinner and there are some other changes. I would prefer to have the lunch options available for dinner. We had two different gelatos for dessert which come with a cookie. Our drinks were a cocktail, Italian draft beer and two glasses of wine from the wonderful wine list. Cost was $150. A perfect place for dinner before the Grant Park Music Festival, concert at Orchestra Hall, or the theater. Nice outside space on Michigan Avenue although eating inside is fine during the winter. Wonderful dining experience.
As always, everything was excellent....
This is a GEM! Beautiful atmosphere, lovely service and outstanding culinary expertise! Please support, you will not be disappointed! P.s. Hannah was knowledgeable, kind, funny and genuine, thank you Acanto Team!
The service was terrible. I asked for some lemon for my fish and it did not show up until the dinner was over. My friend had ordered a cocktail and they gave her the wrong drink. She returned it and didn’t get a new one till after dinner was over. The waiter just didn’t seem to care
We sat outside, knowing it would be noisy at 6-7 pm on Michigan Avenue, and it was, but the service and food were excellent. Our waitor was knowledgeable and charming. The appetizers, arancini and fritto miso, were especially good.
Fantastic meal at Acanto! Great service, ambiance, and food. The Bruschetta and Arancini are amazing as is the lamb ragout rigatoni.
The Pasticci di cioccolato was incredible - a must order if you love dessert.
Will be back!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Great people watching from our outside table, looking over millennium Park. The food and service were phenomenal, our waitress was kind and very helpful. Just an overall lovely experience.
Alex is fantastic!
Dinner was excellent and the atmosphere inviting and fun. We will return.
We took this reservation because it was one of the only ones available. We were a little nervous but it was fabulous! The Branzino was wonderful, wine list is extensive and the service is 5 star. Almost don't want people to know about it so it is easy to get a reservation!
Wonderful find. Very delicious food and great environment- easy to have conversations. Staff if helpful and well informed.
Best meal we’ve had in along time. Bruschetta was amazing, as was frito misto. Chicken piccata was delicious, and the pasticcio dessert was so decadent and unbelievably good. Highly recommend this restaurant. Was one of our favorite restaurants before the pandemic, and we’re so glad they’re back.
Daughter’s 23rd Birthday. A anti is always excellent.
Fabulous! Perfect location near the Art Institute and park.
Between the five star service, delicious food and excellently curated wine list, it is always an incredible experience at Acanto.
Okay food, uninspired service
Some favorite staples here such as a cheese plate, carpaccio . . . bolstered by inspired salads . . . but for the rest, meh . . .
Great ingredients, excellent preparation. Across the street from art institute of chicago
Tried Acanto for the first time and it did not disappoint. Food was great with gluten free options, wine list was extensive, ambience was quiet and quaint.
Best dessert I have EVER had. Service was excellent as well
My husband and I are visiting Chicago and had dinner at Acanto on Saturday evening - we had cocktails at the bar and transitioned to a table served by Chris the bartender! Everything about our evening was wonderful! The food, the ambiance, the service, all top notch! Great experience which we highly recommend!
Fantastic, delicious food with very good but unobtrusive service. Ambiance was energetic and busy. Music was good but maybe could be turned down a little. One of our favourite places in Chicago 😊
Acanto has great ambiance and vibe!
Food delicious, great wine list and server was excellent.
Try the Beef Carpaccio - Amazing!
Amazing!!!! Food was amazing service even better 💓 Thank you so much .
Loved trying something new. Great food with outside and inside dining options. Recommend!
Authentic, inventive Italian food and drinks in an intimate setting.
Food was delicious. So was dessert. Portions on the smaller side.
Great service even with chaos outside. Josh was a great server
Service was great, food was wonderful with generous portions, and the ambiance was really nice. Great spot for a date night!
The best bruschetta. Ever. Lots of superb delicately seasoned food, and luxuriant desserts. The cocktails similarly used herbs and fruits and there was a lovely array of non-alcoholic drinks. The service was attentive without ever being obtrusive, and the timing of the meal was lovely, despite a full room. Pricing was modest, considering the super high quality. Will be planning to go there often!!
As always, the food was superb! What a great menu! The bruschetta is to die for, our absolute favorite
This was one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been in Chicago. Outstanding food!
The bartender made the experience for us! Overall the food wasn’t the best meal we’ve ever had but it was pretty good. The bartender, though, was personable, knowledgeable and was great at introducing us to new drinks. He was absolutely amazing. We would recommend eating outside if you can as it does get pretty dark indoors and the views from inside of the park are pretty obstructed. We ordered the burrata, bread, risotto, peas, gnocchi, steak, tiramisu and tart. Everything was great except the steak was just ok (over done and a little fatty.) We will go back to take visiting friends and family, for the desserts, drinks and food outside of the steak. They were great with accommodating to my allergy restrictions as well!
Always an amazing experience at Acanto. Service is great, and the food is always good.
Friendly bar and wait staff. Large portions - enough for sharing. Interesting specialty cocktails. Large outdoor dining area on Michigan Avenue.
Got what I expected. More importantly my mother enjoyed as well. We ate outdoors, it’s quieter inside. I’m from NY - prices were very reasonable for Chicago. If I lived in Chicago it would probably be a regular spot when guests are in town.
welcoming, service was outstanding, food well prepared and presented
