We enjoyed our evening at Acqua. The menu is very interesting with some new and interesting items and we will return to try some other things in the future. The gals both ordered the bolognese and it was excellent. My friend and I both ordered the short ribs and while it tasted good, it was not what we expected. Past experience with short ribs have led us to believe that the meat is very tender and falling apart. You can cut it with a fork. This was not the case as the meat was hard and somewhat chewy, but the sauce was flavorful. Other than that the appetizers were delicious and we would definitely come back. The atmosphere being on the river was great, however it got dark early on so we only enjoyed the view for the first part of the evening.
I have always been taught that if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything. But the dinner party I hosted this past Saturday night for 10 out of town guests wad a total embarrassment for my wife and me. Seeing that a month ago we had an outstanding meal., this time not the case. We were a party of 12, two separate tables (covid rules) 8 of us could not eat our appetizers some we’re actually burnt to ash and a few entrees were totally tasteless. Also we had 630 reservations, really early for us but planes all came in early so we wanted to come right from the airport and to our surprise one the specials of the the evening was limited to one and 3 others wanted it. How can a restaurant run out of stuff that early. We won’t write the place off because our previous meal was so good but this past weekend so poor it may be awhile.
Our waitress was nice, but could use more polishing. The food was subpar. View was fantastic. Not in any kind of hurry to go back.
Great food! Great service!
Excellent food and service!
A beautiful setting on the water with indoor and outdoor seating. Server was attentive and friendly. I had a Cobb salad that was good. My appetizer , clams casino had an odd taste to them, not the usual clams casino flavor I like. It may have been the spices.
The previous Acqua while originally a restaurant eventually became only a banquet facility. The current Acqua is open for regular dining hours & has a decent dinner menu as well as banquet rooms. Not sure if they are the same as the previous Acqua. We arrived for our 6:00 PM reservation & were promptly seated on the patio. There were tables available inside but the atmosphere needs to be worked on a bit. The inside area seemed large, plain & empty. Could be their attempt at dealing with social distancing. The patio was nice & everyone was well spaced out. We found the staff to be polite & attentive. We both chose a drink from the drink specials menu, a white sangria & a smoky margarita. Both were good. We were provided fresh warm rolls & butter. The warm rolls were good. For an appetizer we chose crab stuffed mushrooms. We were very happy with this choice as they were quite good. We split a caprese salad. It wasn't what we expected but we were pleasantly surprised as it was good & not over filling. My wife initially had something in mind for dinner but when she seen the lobster roll go by her mind was instantly changed & made up. The lobster roll came with fresh cut truffle fries & was stuffed to overflowing with large chunks of fresh lobster meat. I went with a pan seared cod with fingerling potatoes & peas with a lobster sauce. I was surprised by the chunks of lobster that came with it. There was a small scoop of pesto on the side of the dish. I found this to be a bit strong & chose not to eat it. The rest of the dish was perfect. The peas were firm and flavorful, the potatoes perfectly cooked & buttery. Patio season is soon ending. Hopefully the ambiance of the interior seating will improve as it is more frequently needed. I would return with friends and would recommend to others to give Acqua a try.
I went with a group of friend and we had access to a big table and able to self distance. Staff is very courteous and pleasant, the food is excellent!
Everything was great!
Very happy this restaurant has reopened and making use of its lovely venue.
Menu was very diverse; something for everyone,
I will definitely return again. Waitstaff were very friendly and accomodating.
Scenic location on the Niagara River in good weather. Because we were celebrating 3 birthdays during COVID-19 we requested patio seating & went for the Happy Hour & Apps promotion. Unfortunately remnants of Hurricane Laura cancelled out both and also created leaks in the ceiling of the sunroom. Considering that we were 1 of 4 tables not honoring the apps promotion was disappointing. Food was good & the lobster roll is a smart choice & filling. Heard that Sunday brunch is nice. Too bad the mojitos were tasteless! We felt bad for the server who was very attentive. So go on a sunny day, enjoy the view and tip well.
Omg what a great place. So glad we found it now. It’s going to be the place to be as soon as word gets out. Can’t wait to return.
We had a delightful dinner with family. The weather and atmosphere could not have been better. The service and food equaled the ambiance. Sitting next to the water was good for the soul especially during the Covid times.
We all had great meals. Salmon, Scallops, Swordfish, lobster rolls all delicious. Took a long time to get before dinner drinks and some other drinks that were ordered never came. The cannoli for desert had an odd flavor to it. Ambience was great. The music was a bit too loud at the beginning but another diner requested they turn it down and they did. Great place to go to watch the sunset on a nice night. Outdoor dining!
Great view, good food and drinks!
The Faroe Island salmon dinner was excellent! Great location, plenty of parking, friendly service.
The place has a great view of the river, but tables closet to it are a little exposed to the sun. View is also a bit hindered by the railings. If you sit under the large canopy the experience will be much better. Food and service were great, a little pricey but tasted great and presented well. Our waitress was outstanding.
Everything was perfect! Our steaks were cooked to perfection and delicious. The view of the river was beautiful. We would definitely go back!
Great view of the Niagara River. Nice menu including Happy Hour menu. Good selection or beer, wine and cocktails. I will be back.
Great spot! Great Food! Great Date Night! A perfect Summer Evening
Wonderful from beginning to end. Samantha, our server, comped us to champagne since 3 of us had birthdays that we were unable to celebrate due to COVID. I’ve already made another reservation for Sunday brunch!
Made reservation on opentable. Received confirmation. They could not find reservation. Our waiter hardly came to our table, never refilled water and 1 drink was incorrect. He tried to have us keep it saying it was better than what was ordered. Long waits for everything. Food was good. That was only plus.
I’m not sure what happened at Aqua. I want to give it five stars because the food was amazing! I had the shrimp and scallops special for $42 and my husband had the sweet and sour haddock special for $36. If I’m paying those prices I also want top notch service and great ambiance. Our waiter was a very nice guy but it took forever to get our food! We had steamed clams as an appetizer it took about a half hour to get the appetizer, he gave my husband a free beer for the wait. It took another long wait for the entree. I asked for a cup of coffee three times before I finally got one and he gave us our check and never asked if we wanted dessert. We had to say can we please order dessert- we did, we ordered cannoli and they were excellent! It was raining and we sat in the adjacent area with the windows, beautiful view but there were cobwebs and spiders in the corners and on the window. There was a beautiful grand piano in the main dining area and it would have been great if they had someone playing some type of music instead of silence. So for me I’m not sure if I’ll go back but this place has so much potential, it’s location is amazing, the food was amazing but the service and ambiance need to be upgraded for the prices they are charging.
Amazing Food, service needs a little work, but they were all very polite...
The food was excellent and presentation was outstanding
Amazing food, gorgeous views and the best service - can’t wait to go back!
Thanks Lindsey! Can't wait to have you back!
Everything was spot on. Fried goat cheese was incredible. Shrimp was absolutely huge. Lobster roll was delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection. Awesome drinks and service, all around fantastic experience. A+ across the board!
We had a great time at the new incarnation of Acqua. We were seated outside on a perfect summer night. We had the lobster roll and the “rust belt crust” pepperoni pizza. Both were delicious. For dessert, a bag of donuts, done in the traditional Italian style. The service was great, and the entire staff was pleasant and friendly on a busy night. We’ll definitely be back!
So happy you enjoyed! We look forward to your next visit!
