Relaxed, airy and beautiful surroundings. Food was simple, fresh and delicious. The size of the banquet was generous but not overwhelming.
There were nearly 100 people dining there and they only had 5 to 6 people serving the tables and the wait time for the dishes between entree and the mains was ridiculous We had to wait good half an hour before our mains arrived. They gave us the bill I pulled my card out and the guy says ok I go and bring the terminal and then he went away and wasn't back for next 10 minutes so we got up of our table and I walked up to him and I said look just take the payment we really want to leave. In all honesty the food was average it wasn't worth the wait
It was extremely hot that day when we went and host wasn't empathic to let us sit inside even though we had a child with clutches and another child that has high chances of melanoma. We did asked host whether we could sit in but due to the restaurant closing in 30mins to lunch setup, he didn't try to find another suggestion and seems yo be in rush ....
I thoroughly enjoyed dining in at Acre Camperdown. I would definitely recommend this venue for a great, family friendly, delicious, relaxed place to enjoy a great night out for food and drink.
We went to Acre to celebrate a friends 40th. When we arrived, on a very warm day, there was no a/c or fans on. It was much hotter inside the restaurant than it had been outside. I asked to have the fans switched on and was told ok, but “everyone else had complained when the a/c was on”. The fans on one side of the room were switched on. I asked a second time to have the remaining fans put on. People were sweating at our table!
Secondly we were a table of four and our drinks order was forgotten- a table of around twenty behind us who arrived after us had their drinks first. We had to chase ours up.
Also despite noting the occasion no effort was made to acknowledge our friends 40th. A plate with chocolate sauce saying happy birthday and a petit four or a scoop of gelato would have been nice and is what we have experienced at similarly priced restaurants.
We also note the acoustics in the room leaves much to be desired. It’s was so loud it was at hard times to hear each other. It might not be so bad on a quieter say but the restaurant was full and included several large parties.
Lastly there was a surcharge for paying by card that was not mentioned. So I entered my tip for a final bill of $360 and then was hit with a $5 surcharge. The staff just said sorry that’s the payment system when I queried why the bill was $365. It would have been nice to have been told beforehand.
I also note that the disabled toilet/baby change room was dirty & smelly.
The food itself was very nice - simple plates but well cooked and flavourful. My husband did say he had to hunt for the crab in his crab linguine though - he thinks he may have had a teaspoon or two of crab meat at best.
All in all we felt that the experience was disappointing at the price point.
Family Friendly! Kids can run around the garden while the parents can enjoy a peaceful meal! And The food and coffee are also Fantastic! And very accomodating with options such as coconut milk
Gardens are just weeds, play area has rubbish blowing through it, service is beyond appalling! The food is fine and the space is beautiful and tranquil. This place has so much potential... if only they could get their act together.
Great local restaurant and function centre. Reasonably priced for both food and drinks. Nice menu for sharing plates.
The venue was amazing and staff were super friendly! Food was tasty but they were a bit stingy on the amount — particularly the pasta! Despite this, I would recommend the Acre to all friends for drinks!
Acre seems to have shifted away from their focus on simple, tasty dishes that allow the ingredients to sing. Instead, the flavours and combinations were pretty ordinary. The food was decent, but not amazing like I remember it from a few years ago. They seem to have stopped their onsite veggie patch which is sad to see. The service was really average for the price point. Also, the restaurant was less than half full, but very noisy. I still love the space and greenery, but for what you're paying it's not great value.
lovely food and and friendly staff, a great place to while away an afternoon
Sebastian and I had visited regularly and actually had our wedding reception at ACRE a while back. We arrived Saturday 6.30 and had our order taken ASAP. We waited approx 20 minutes and had to eventually ask for the wine and another 15 minutes on top for Foccacia which beard nothing of the description?? The meal *never* arrived after waiting 1.5 hours. almost 2 hours. The kitchen clearly could not handle the demand. We had been given the wine complimentary despite insisting to pay and the manager was very professional about the situation. We actually had dinner there the week before the incident which even then we were dubious about our next visit. The restaurant was sentimental too us
It will be a long time before considering a revisit, despite living up the road and watching the place grow.
I love the Acre Eatery space, and it is the space that keeps me coming back. But the last few times I have visited I have been let down by other aspects of the experience. Staff is well meaning and polite but very inexperienced. This is a mark down for management who are placing staff on the floor who do now know the menu, cannot pronounce the food on the menu and are unable to explain what ingredients are as listed. I asked about the four special salamis on the Salumi plate and I was told that they were the special salamis on the Salumi plate. I knew that. But what were they? No idea.
We requested for our meal to be staggered. Pasta dishes came WITH main course dishes. Snapper crab linguini WITH a big bowl of pan potatoes? Who could think that was right That is not an Italian way.
We ordered second glasses of wine before this course arrived. They didn't arrive until the end of the second course.
Food was a mixture of 'quite good' and 'very average'. I think I have exhausted my patience with this restaurant. Sorry.
Great night. It did take some time for drinks to be delivered once ordered.
We enjoyed our lunch at Acre, we were all satisfied with our meals apart from my husband (and it was his birthday), he had the crab linguine and was expecting pieces of crab but there weren't any. The air conditioning was a little too cold but the atmosphere and setting if otherwise lovely.
Fabulous meal in a lovely location
Surprisingly noisy, considering that it was supposedly a Covid-safe number of people in the room
Food was amazing, though the cannoli shells were too thick
Great food, lovely staff, confusing ordering. Not a fan of the QR code menu especially at menu change over time. We gave up on tech and went the bar to order. Still one of my favourite places in Sydney with their unique site.
Lovely venue for an easy going night out. Staff can be a little distracted and you will need to get their attention at times.
Beautiful entree but mains weren't great. Many complaints from tables around us about the wait for food. Went after loving them last visit a year ago but since the menu change (now to Italian theme) just not as good. Lovely drinks though and waiters were lovely.
Great food so fresh and delicious . We had a table booked for 4 and received very little service as a whole. We waited 20 mins to receive our bottle of sparkling wine after I prompted the waiter to collect it for us. He served the first glass but then we were left to pour it ourselves. I noticed other service staff were consist in topping up other customers sitting on other tables. The food was outstanding but yet again we waited at least 45mins for any food to be served at our table. We love coming here because of the wonderful food but felt really let down with the lack of service and the amount of time waiting for wine and food to be served. We are willing to return but feel if things do not improve service wise then sadly we will no longer feel it will be worth the experience.
Super lovely but SEVERLY understaffed, had to ask over and over to check on orders..
We loved the food, it was delicious! I love the story behind the venue and the classes you can take to learn to grow your own food and improve the environment
Great place for a group to meet for breakfast or lunch. We will be back.
Service was fast - actually too fast. No condiments, not even salt & pepper or sugar and no one to ask as were gone and didn’t bother to return or ask. Food okay but becoming generic brunch. Plenty of others to try before returning
Long wait time for mediocre food. Waitstaff not helpful
I absolutely love coming to this place. Great ambience and decor, fantastic service, and the food is delicious.
Service was atrocious the waiter forgot our entree TWICE so we ended up cancelling it as it never came even after mains and after asking multiple times. The people sitting opposite us were served their $80 steak and had to sit there waiting for someone to come and serve them plates instead of waiting while their food got cold. In the end I passed them plates from an empty table. Also forgot our drinks order. The food and atmosphere were great but clearly this place doesn’t have systems in place to manage being remotely busy. I wouldn’t go back.
Services was extremely slow, where I had to get up from our table to get a waiter to come and serve us. When we ordered drinks, our 2 bottles of wine were missed. It was very difficult to get a waiter to come to the table. Entrees were fresh, tasty and well presented. A nice selection of proteins. The pasta was overcooked and the fish exceptional. Did not order dessert, teas or coffees as we were not asked.
A totally enjoyable late lunch. Food was superb, the service was attentive and the ambience was pleasant and conducive to quiet conversation.
Unfortunately the service was very slow. Also table next to us was too close.
Went to acre for brunch (11:30 am) and ordered off the breakfast menu. Food tasted like it had been sitting under heat lamps for ages - sausages were cold, mushrooms were dry and the bacon had turned hard.
Service was inattentive. I had to ask twice for menus, the coffee arrived after we finished our meals (I ordered it at the same time as the food).
The restaurant itself was lovely and the staff were friendly.
The ambience and service at Acre Camperdown were great but we were all let down by the food. It was expensive and there were not many choices of main courses. This was made worse by the fact one of the main dishes had sold out. If you don't like pasta, pork belly or meat then you could have the bland eggplant. 3 of us ordered the snapper crab linguine which had 2 tiny pieces of crab and the rest was pasta. Disappointing and expensive at $36 for what it was. The bistecca was out of our budget at $129. I was very disappointed as the photos of the food on the website look amazing.
The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. Highly recommend!
First time at Acre, will definitely return.
Lovely set-up and walk into the restaurant and then had a lovely meal.
The food was delicious, ambience was really nice despite a bridal shower happening behind us. The staff were friendly but terrible at actual service: forget our sides and only stopped at our table when we flagged them down. The tables either side of (including us, all pairs of diners), got much better service. Unsure if it was because they were busy - plenty of empty tables and staff standing around but it was the worst part of the whole experience.
They missed the opportunity to sell us dessert and additional drinks so the loss was to them. It was lunchtime on a Saturday with 40% free capacity, I expect better service.
The staff were friendly and switched on to our needs. Food was good and menu options varied. The ambience suited us too, Outlook to the garden suited the atmosphere, thank you.
Becoming a favourite location! Currently (Nov) menu is Italian and delish. Lots of options and generous servings. Inside dining room is very large yet able to have conversation easily with no excess noise. Service is excellent with staff friendly, efficient and observant.
The food is always lovely here as is the service however the gardens and outside areas as you approach have really gone to waste. Dead plants, nothing in the veggie gardens expect for weeds.. feeling really ran down. Sad as I talked this place up and took friends visiting.... as a first impression it wasn’t good. Just needs some TLC... but everything else once indoors was great!
Always enjoy Acre, lovely setting, delicious food.
I love the new menu. beautiful fresh food and classic italian style. enjoyed it!
