   They looked at me strangely when I said I had a reservation. They are on Open Table but don’t use it. Fortunately, we ate early and there was no problem getting a table. They did fill up towards the end of our meal. Service was okay. A little lagging. Food was excellent. Ambiance a little spartan. Overall, it was a good experience. I would go again.

   Delicious food and caring service. I love Afghan cuisine and was very excited to find a restaurant on my travels to SLC. Definitely one of the best ones I’ve been to.

   You cannot actually make reservations here. We went to the restaurant and thankfully they had a table open, but Open Table needs to take this reservation system off for Afghan Kitchen because they are only first come first serve. That being said, the food here is incredible. So flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend for a casual dinner

   This is the second branch of the original restaurant on Main Street. It is bigger, brighter, and more spacious. Most importantly, the food is just as delicious as the original restaurant. There isn't an item on the menu that we don't love. I particularly love the lamb shank because the meat just falls off its bone. The owner is friendly and kind. You must give Afghan Kitchen a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

    I read about this restaurant in Salt Lake Magazine. We made reservations thinking it would be packed on a Saturday night. When we got there, very few people were in the restaurant. The service and the food was outstanding. It’s in a strip mall so it may still be a “hidden gem.”

    Food was great and the service was really good. We had Chai tea which was really good as well as both of their desserts. Made for a really fun and yummy valentines dinner.

    The food was amazing! Everything was perfectly spiced - NOT spicy but with an incredible amount of flavor. We were very glad we made a reservation through open table as they were quite busy and we’re having to turn away parties without a reservation. We will definitely be back the next time we are in SLC!

    We just discovered this wonderful restaurant. The chicken kebobs and the chicken curry are so moist and tender and simply exceptional that we came back 3 days after our first visit. We will be back frequently. The service is terrific and the atmosphere is clearly casual and unpretentious, I just wish they had a liquor license.

    Authentic food that dazzled the taste buds. Not fine dinning as not much was done to the restaurant space to decorate. No doubt I would go back.

    My husband and I were visiting Salt Lake City and were having difficulty finding a reservation for a Friday evening. The Afghan Kitchen was able to accommodate us. The food was succulent and delicious, the service was wonderful and the prices were extremely reasonable. The very best lamb shank I have ever eaten. I wish we had a restaurant like this at home.

    The food was excellent- we loved the lamb shank and Lola kebab, along with the appetizer (can’t recall the name, but I think it was the first one on the menu). The lamb shank with the rice with raisins was especially tasty. The place had a nice atmosphere and a pretty clean bathroom. My only complaint was the somewhat slow service. When we (a party of two) arrived, there was only one other party there, with only two people. A couple more parties arrived later during our time there. However, there was one server for everyone, and she seemed incredibly busy and took awhile to take our order (actually, someone else came out of the kitchen to finally take our order after we’d been there for ~15 min), then our server only checked on us once before we asked for the check. We had to get her attention to ask for the check, and that took awhile to come back to us too. I will say that the time between our order and the food coming out was pretty short, so not much of a wait there. If the server is going to be that busy, I think having another server would help. This is a pretty minor complaint overall. The food was great and we’d come back!

    Our server recommended the lamb shank so two of us ordered it. We both devoured it - and one of us is an extremely picky eater. The flavor was rich and the meat was so tender you could cut it with your fork - but not mushy in the slightest. The chicken kebabs were tender, too, and moist. The eggplant side dish was perfectly tangy, rich, and satisfying. The manti - we ordered the leek and scallion version - were the perfect mix of delicate, chewy, and crispy. The fries were under-cooked, however, and the kidney beans and rice was nothing special. Spacious modern decor and outstanding service from a caring, competent server made our visit quite pleasant. Prices were very reasonable.

    Food is always fabulous. Generous portions and everything is so flavors. Plenty to choose from for any palette! We always leave stuffed and with a to-go box. Always get the Sabzi Challow. We have never been disappointed and order something new each time.

    We had a wonderful lunch with friends. The food is wonderful and the service is great. We live about 30 miles away, but it was well worth the trip! It was our second time to experience the fantastic dishes at Afghan Kitchen.

    This restaurant is so delicious; all of the foods and condiments are packed with flavor! The quality of our dining experiences are always consistently excellent. The food is fresh & healthy, and easily accommodates vegan, vegetarian & gluten free diets. And they’re open on Sundays- always a plus in SLC. I highly recommend!
