   Afternoon tea at the MerrionHotel was a lovely experience. Staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive. I particularly enjoyed the time taken to explain the link between the art and the little desserts. I will be back.

   Really lovely afternoon tea at the Merrion. They catered for the two of us who between us had vegan and coeliac dietary requirements and such effort was put into making afternoon tea amazing.

    Stunning pastries, delicious sandwiches and outstanding service in the very relaxing drawing room Complimentary Merrion Art book an excellent touch and being able to then view the art in person afterwards is a true USP, a decadent afternoon tea experience that was also uniquely cultural.

    Lovely atmosphere and amazing service. Found the vegetarian food options a little bland. Not much flavour to the sandwiches. Very disappointing as I had high expectations.

    Wonderful way to spend a lazy afternoon. The atmosphere is sophisticated but relaxed, with the joy of a wonderful art collection to peruse. Food is good. I only say not great because there is a limit on what is achievable with afternoon tea! There are two courses - tiered sandwich and scone platter, followed by beautifully designed and flavoured pastries, inspired by the art collection.

    Lovely experience, the staff, particularly Grace, Marta, Pattie and Elise (sp?) were fantastic! Very warm and personable, food was great, setting was stunning, we particularly loved the art! Could not fault and would highly recommend, a little oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Gorgeous experience, as always, but the bread on all our sandwiches was a bit stale like they had been sitting out for more than a few hours.Also the scones were not fresh, disappointing for the price. But the ambience, staff, service, everything else was just gorgeous!

    Me and my partner decided to have a belated anniversary celebration. I’m a big enthusiast of all things Georgian and fine dining! We decided upon the Merrion as it ticked those boxes for me and has a great reputation! It did not disappoint, genuine hospitality of the highest calibre! Great setting, fine food and beautiful things to look at everywhere! We had two very attentive servers who couldn’t do enough! One girl is an up and coming actress so watch this space! We will be back!

    I felt the scones were a little bit plain - they need a bit more butter in the mix. Also in the middle creation in the Art Trio - the brown sponge was somewhat stale, otherwise everything was good.

    The Merrion Hotel reflects everything that is good about Dublin, and in particular it’s people. We have been fortunate to stay in the Merrion before as guests, so our expectations based on that previous experience were high. It did not disappoint. The welcome from the steps of this fine hotel, to the warm farewell could not have been friendlier or more sincere. The service was excellent, the food and creativity of the food was superb, and the comfort of the dining room a delight. Sometimes you have to view these experiences as a possible one off , and l can certainly say that my wife and myself can look back on this treat as one we will never forget, but would have no issue repeating.Brilliant.

    Lovely afternoon tea! Really glad that we could have a vegan version of the tea, but it’d have been nice if the second course was also art-themed. For instance, the macaron could have been blue and painted with brushstrokes in the same palate as the Yates painting. The tart could have been more deconstructed, reminiscent of the sculpture in the garden. I’m very happy already about the availability of vegan options, but that extra step would have made such a difference, as the second course was a bit anticlimactic after we saw other tables’ presentations and ended up getting something a bit more ordinary. With that said, we’d definitely be back!

    Service and atmosphere are absolutely lovely. Wonderful server, lovely fire in the fireplace, excellent tea to drink. I ordered the vegan tea. I’m guessing their vegan tea items don’t get ordered as much, sit longer, and are less fresh. This can be an issue with vegan and or allergy friendly foods at many restaurants and bakeries. It’s *not* unique to this hotel. The sandwiches were delicious, but the thinner ones were starting to get soggy. The tea cakes in the first course and the desserts in the second course were all a bit dried out and getting close to being called stale. It was still good and this is a common enough issue that I’m hesitating to write about. However, for a tea service like this at the Merrion, I wish they rotated in fresher vegan items more frequently. I loved the beet and “egg” salad roll. The asparagus and cucumber sandwiches were also delicious. The smokey black tea is wonderful with the savory items in the first course.

    We went for the vegan option but it looked like a huge downgrade from their regular food menu. The vegan platters were very ordinary, considering there are so many brilliant options for vegan food/snacks elsewhere in Dublin. It seemed they haven't put much thought behind the vegan menu. Otherwise, service was great and ambience was pleasant.

    The seating was astonishingly uncomfortable. The sandwiches and breads were okay, but certainly not worth going for. The scones with jam, cream, etc were good, but good scones are readily available in most places. The art desserts - the main reason I and most people come here - were beautiful but the taste didn’t live up to the appearance. For example, the caramel apple eclair thing had good caramel frosting, but the pastry itself was dry. Overall, the experience was more “uncomfortable” than “luxurious relaxing afternoon.” At the very least, they should offer a “dessert only” tea with a sampling of most (if not all) of the desserts - after all, that’s why people go there; skipping the disappointing sandwiches and focusing on the main feature would likely improve the overall experience. But, yes, the desserts are very pretty to look at.

    Art afternoon tea is a real treat especially after a visit to the National Gallery across the road. The level of service is second to none. Staff are friendly and knowledgable about the many voices of teas including iced teas! They are attentive but not intrusive. The patisserie chef does an excellent job in styling the sweet treats on paintings chosen from the Merrions personal collection. Best afternoon tea in Dublin by far!

    The room was beautiful, but there was lots of staff and guest passing through the pass, that took away from the relaxing atmosphere. Food was the star of the tea! Service was lacking, so our experience with the tea was limited, since there were long delays in service. We also had to ask twice and wait 20 min for the ice tea were weee told would be perfect with the second course!
