   We've often watched Cherish judging on Bake Off - The Professionals so were interested to see what she had to offer for Afternoon Tea. Great Staff. Fantastic Pastries - full of flavour without feeling overpowered but sugar. Convenient location very close to Liverpool St station. Interesting choice of teas. At the top end of the price scale for London Afternoon Teas but even my husband (who isn't a great fan of Afternoon Tea) thought it was a great two hour experience. Lovely surroundings. The only two small negatives were one of the Chinese Savouries we both felt was bland and the seating - The Orchid Lounge is just that, a lounge and as such the chairs are quiet low, you're not sat up at a table as in a restaurant. It also meant we were a distance apart from making it not always easy to converse with each other. Neither of these detracted from what was a lovely Afternoon Tea (and I've had a few over the years).

   Lunar New Year afternoon tea at the Orchid Lounge was fantastic. Cherish has made sure they can cater for all dietary requirements and allergies, so everyone gets the same experience.

   Beautiful pastries and a lovely themed afternoon tea - food to be recommended but service could have been better. Sat for 10 mins without being greeted or given a menu. Some of the descriptions of the food from the waiters was lacking. Would expect more from service for this price point.

   Amazing cakes and great service!!!!! Cherish can be a biggest critic in the desert industry if she can make the level of cakes… the combinations of the flavour and designs are perfect and we are so impressed! On top of it, the staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. One little criticism is an ambience…the setting can be more luxurious. We felt that we were in the extended lobby.

   Celebrated my mum’s birthday with my girlfriend. We had a wonderful time. Vibe and ambience was incredible. The food was great, very friendly service. Would definitely recommend or go again!

    Beautiful food but the tea was quite weak and some of the service wasn’t as amazing as it could have been when you’re spending £20 on the service charge. We ordered tea and it took a very long time to come. The main server was very pleasant and made up for it. Would absolutely return to have the cakes again, they were amazing!

    They did not refill our tea , no asking if we need something elese . They just grab us to finish quiq so they can clean the table . I even not finish my scones and they clean .

    I went here with my partner for afternoon tea on Christmas day (1 traditional, 1 Kopi Tiam - both vegetarian). Friendly staff and great presentation of food. But all of the items lacked flavour. From the savoury sandwiches to the bao buns - it all left a lot to be desired. There were also large time gaps between servings and we had to get attention of the staff multiple times to be served. At £85 per person (excluding service charge) and on Christmas day, the experience should've been better. I wish the kitchen staff all the best and I recommend they sample the tea and meal selection of some competitors in London, then revisit their menu.

    This review is for a £78 afternoon Tea in The Orchid room at Pan Pacific. For that price I expected Dorchester, Rosewood, Lanesborough, Savoy compatable food and service- its the lobby restaurant, modern, open and noisy. An option for Baos instead of sandwiches. I chose baos, very doughy not enough filling. Shocked at the skimpy portions of sauces for savories and jams, not enough for one spring roll. Jam not enough for 1 scone. Scones small and cold, signature tea delicious. The desserts were the best part of the tea, very beautiful and delicious, a nut cracker, tiny pink macarons, chocolate spiced plum mascarpone, clementine mouse, Victoria sponge cinnamon. Nothing spectacular enough to justify £78 (no alcohol) not even offered seconds. Will not go back. There are far superior teas in London at that price.

    The Orchid Lounge was nicely decorated for Christmas, had beautiful china and everything was clean and well presented. It took 30 mins to be seated though and the dining table was uncomfortably low. The tea was either weak or over stewed and we didn’t have very attentive service so had to guess which tea belonged to each of us and pour it ourselves. The bao could have been delicious but were woefully under filled. The Kaya toast was tasty but the summer roll was truly terrible. 90% tasteless bean sprouts and half a small prawn in the entire roll. We asked for extra sauce to try to give it flavour which was brought but without a spoon… Staff were mostly very pleasant and the manager was charming. The cakes were all tasty and fresh and the stollen scones were a revelation - extremely tasty. Having been to Shiok I was expecting similarly complex cakes but they were much more simple yet tasty. I wouldn’t return as it wasn’t the level of attention I expect at a luxury hotel but it was a nice afternoon and we didn’t feel rushed at all which was appreciated. They also remembered to bring a delicious dessert plate for my guest’s birthday which was wonderful. It was extremely distracting and annoying to have non-diners posing with the Christmas tree next to my table and incessantly clicking professional cameras. We complained to the manager and he asked them to finish up their bizarre photo shoot which was much appreciated. In summary it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours but not in the league of other luxury hotels in central London.

    We celebrated our daughter’s 20th b’day at the Orchid Lounge. Had a great experience. We tried the Kopi Tiam version of the High Tea which was excellent. Mathew, our server, was very attentive and did a nice job.

    Have to comment on the excellent service we received from the staff. We were a group of 5 adults, a toddler and a baby for afternoon tea. They were attentive the whole time we were there, refilling our tea (I was never with an empty cup), free snack for our toddler despite we did not order the kids afternoon tea for her, no fuss cleaning when our toddler made a mess, immediate reaction when we needed anything. Food was beautifully presented and quite good, free refills for both food and tea. Overall would highly recommend.

    Probably the best afternoon tea experience we have had in London at least on par with Claridges. The staff are very welcoming and more than helpful. The dessert was phenomenal and the Christmas spiced scones beautiful. If you are stuck for choice this should be top of your list.

    Experience was ruined by a front of house staff member who was rushing us as soon as we arrived and delivered the bill 30 minutes before the end of our reservation. We had the festive tea. The stollen scones were brilliant, but apart from that much better teas can be found elsewhere in London. It’s at the higher price point for teas and sadly it did not live up to it.

    Overall an enjoyable occasion. The major issue is the quality and level of service which is poor. At £100 per head (even for London) one expects not to have chase staff to be served. I appreciate that all hospitality is struggling for staff, however, the lounge was not busy. Quality and quantity of food was excellent. The sofa’s are way too low to be comfortable to sit on. Enjoyable yet disappointing.

    We had a lovely afternoon tea set in a lovely hotel with Christmas decs galore and cosy seats , we were not rushed and the staff were so friendly , however , we ordered a cocktail which never turned up , we did ask and they said they forgot to put the order through by then the tea arrived so we said we’d leave the cocktail , tbe sandwiches were nice but we got 4 finger sandwiches each , 2 mini scones and 4 petite very lovely cakes , I’m Not a big eater but the portion size was very small for the cost , we could ask for more tea and coffee and it was brought but things took time , it was not overly busy . Would we go back I’d say yes for a special occasion but almost £200 with service charge for 2 for afternoon tea is a real treat The staff were very sweet and never rushed us , lovely hotel close uk Liverpool Street station vey Cosy too

    Things seems to have sadly slipped since we visited exactly a year ago. We were looking forward to experiencing the festive afternoon tea once again as a special treat, having visited last year relatively soon after its opening and absolutely loving the experience. Unfortunately this years visit saw a less inspired menu (specifically Kopi Tiam) overly slow and haphazard service and a generally poorer experience. Let’s not beat around the bush, at £180+ for two this is not cheap, at that price I expect a seamless and fun experience. It took a while to get a menu, then it took 45 minutes roughly from being seated for the first course to arrive. The dumplings we enjoyed last year being replaced by relatively ‘samey’ bao variations. There was one dish less than last year and they dropped the small palate cleanser / interim dish between sweet and savoury as well. I was also surprised by how similar in shape all the desserts were to last year. I’d like to say our main server and tea sommelier (Matthew I think?) was very polite and kind, but other staff members let him down. For instance being offered the amuse bouche twice (the waitress didn’t even look at our table before offering where she would have seen them already infront of us). Not being offered other teas to try without asking (last year we tried 3 I don’t think I’d have gotten two if I hadn’t of asked). Generally it felt cumbersome, lots of staff wafting about, very little actual service. They did apologise for the wait and offered complimentary additional savoury dishes but to be honest we didn’t want to spoil the flow (or wait even longer). I know I probably sound overly picky but let’s remember the price point and location… I don’t think it’s outrageous to expect things to run smoothly. The food was very nice (except the kaya toast which was cold and stale). I guess comparing it to last years options, it just seemed less impressive. I do think we will be back, hopefully to a better experience.

    Great service from the team. Vegetarian menu available for one of the party which we were grateful. The party was able to have one from kopi tiam and one traditional afternoon tea. The vegetarian kopi tiam could have been better, the buns were nice and soft but the salad leaves filling could be improved. Sandwiches for the traditional tea was nice in taste but the bread was a little dry. Shame the scones did not include the traditional plain scone but the themed ones cane nicely warmed. The ambience was lovely and deco was very christmassy. However it would have been nicer to be seated at a dining table rather than a coffee table.

    Very comfortable atmosphere, the sandwiches were very tasty, especially the pastrami and horseradish one. There is quite a selection of tea which they give you a huge pot of, it lasted the whole 2 hours and there was still some left The scones were Christmas themed with cranberry bits inside which made them better than a normal scones in my opinion. The cakes at the end were definitely the best bit though, very well decorated and they all tasted amazing. Service was also excellent, the staff did everything they could to ensure we were happy. Daniel was particularly very helpful, polite and went above and beyond to fix a minor issue we had with on of the sandwiches. We will definitely visit again.

    Beautiful venue & decor. Excellent service from start to finish. My only criticism is that the amount of food served was somewhat lacking. The 'main course was 3 small dumplings decorated with some cress and flowers followed by one fried gyoza with a small bao. Fortunately, the dessert plate was a bit more substantial with 4 beautiful Cherish Finden signature cakes. We chose the Kopi Thiam afternoon tea at £72 pp and a glass of wine @ £15pp. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon in London however it was felt more like style over substance in terms of a foodie experience.
