It was a lovely time filled with fancy treats and dreamy teas.
We went for Afternoon Tea on Sunday. Everything was delicious. The service was terrific; all the staff were lovely. I'd definitely go back.
Would have liked some art work on the walls where we were seated.
Well kept and maintaining social distance from other tables. Street parking available directly in front. Food was mediocre. Delicious tea.
Fairly ordinary meal. However, it’s difficult with the Covid restrictions. We were in a back room that is not part of the main restaurant. The food is OK, but Not is good as it could be, we we’ve had in the past.
We had ordered tea for two, one vegetarian . The presentation of the savory and sweet and savory befitted an art gallery... even the cups and saucers are beautiful to look at. There is a wide choice of teas available and you can experience more than one! A really lovely way to spend an afternoon with a friend.
Exceptional food and service with personalized touches to boot! So glad the AGO has reopened. Will be back again soon!
It was unremarkable. Service was good. Your website is misleading. Food does not live up not does presentation which was poor.
Food was good, service fair, ambiance absolutely terrible for a
fancy Afternoon Tea.
I was expecting something like the Bistro restaurant as I remember it
previously, not a very poor 'cafe-type' setting.
Definitely not appropriate charge for the occasion.
The service was professional and excellent . The pre selected afternoon tea menu was exactly as expected . We started with a mamosa which was followed by on a three tier dish with varied food items starting with sandwiches with specially created fillings, delightful tea biscuits, scampi, duck and scones and finishing with macaroons and other desert items. Of course, there was a selection of teas to choose from which accompanied the main dish. Absolutely I would recommend the Afternoon Tea served at the Bistro attached to the Ontario Art Gallery.
This in the context of COVID, so all more subdued than it otherwise would be. Overall good food the second pot was lovely & hot, as it should be, 3) the room had windows on one side, paintings on another & 2 bare white walls. Given that this was at the AGO, it would have been nice to see paintings on the other 2 walls (one of the walls even had hooks on it).
We had a very good meal. The place was quiet because of the pandemics.
Plenty of room for physical distancing. The service was considerate but not overly intrusive as it could have been with the limited clientele. Menu was varied and our food (2 guests) was well presented and tasty. We were not hurried but neither were we ignored. It was my first venture to a restaurant and I was very comfortable. Would recommend.
This was our first dine in experience since COVID. Distancing was maintained and the servers masked and shielded. The choice of food was limited bur sufficient. My wife's trout was very good as was my Charcuterie plate.
Excellent in every respect.
It was cool because of the location being inside the gallery but the menu was incredibly limited. I thought it was really cheap how the menus were paper, being in an art gallery it could have been more thoughtful. The food was really good and the restaurant was quiet so that was nice.
Hi Naomii, thank you for visiting us! I just wanted to quickly address our menus right now. Before COVID we did opt for large reusable menus with beautiful works of art, however, for the safety of our diners, we have temporarily instituted a disposable menu. This is to ensure that no other guests touch your menu, and to limit the potential for contamination. We are also launching the use of QR codes today, if diners would like to see the menu on their phones instead. Thanks for dining with us!
Very attentive and accurate service. The food was fresh, and nicely presented.
We were there the last day before COVID shut everything down. We had a lovely time and our server, Kelly, was first class. Food wonderful, as always, lovely decor. My favourite Toronto spot.
Good food, great atmosphere and art. What more could you ask for?
The fried chicken dish was tasty by the chicken was overcooked and over fried.
We went for my partner's birthday and we were treated SO WELL, nice table, food was excellent, very tasty and perfectly prepared. Would recommend this for a special lunch out anytime.
Delicious food and very professional service. The room has interesting and fun coloured tables
Great Birthday lunch!
Food excellent and service over all was very good but it seemed that all the suggestions and recommendations from our server were for the most expensive items on the menu, whether it was food, or drinks.
Very nice dinner for 4 on a weekday night. Food and service were spot on with good vegetarian and meet choices.
Always a pleasant experience. The food is delicious. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and quiet. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is lovely.
As usual, the service was impeccable- friendly, capable plus a great wine suggestion. Food was terrific for 1 vegan and 2 normals.
We keep coming back because this is a great restaurant!
Very nice menu, food and excellent service. Great ambience.
Very welcoming maitre d'. Fast service. Good food but more choice would be nice. Excellent cappuccino. For an art gallery bistro it could be more nicely decorated.
The food is much better than I’d expected and the service was fantastic. The vibe is a little sterile which is strange considering it’s housed in a great art gallery. Where is the art? Where is the colour?
My waiter brought me a coffee cup with lukewarm coffee and a pre-used spoon still dripping in honey. I pointed out that I thought the cup may have been used and brought to me in error. The waiter vehemently denied that this could be the case. He offered to bring me a new cup to which I replied that I didn't want any more coffee. He ignored my response and brought me a new cup of coffee instead. While I was paying the bill he once again went on how there was no possible way I could have received a dirty cup. After all this fuss, to my surprise I was still charged the $4.85 for coffee. Don't mind paying for the coffee under normal circumstances but considering the fact the cup was dirty to the point I asked it to be taken away, I was dismayed to see I was still charged for it.
Outstanding experience right from being greeted at the front door upon our arrival, thru to the last bite of our dessert.
Looking forward to our next dining experience at Bistro!
AN ODD DINING EXPERIENCE: there were only one or two reservations available on OpenTable, which suggested that the restaurant was very busy. Instead, upon arriving at 7pm, we found a room that was 20% full. The food was very good, but the ambience was indifferent, at best. Staff overtly cleaning up around us (bar staff cleaning and closing and maitre'd left his post to do paperwork in the back). Finally, please do something about the music selection, which was some of the worst I have ever heard. Muzak (pseudo-jazz) slow, painful cover versions of pop songs. Not sure how to explain it -- some weird attempt to be ironic?
Great food at a reasonable price. Service is very good and the atmosphere is relaxed. Always a good experience.
I really enjoy the AGO bistro and would not hesitate to go back. The only constructive criticism that I would offer is that the prix fixe choices were a little limited. However, the food is really good and it is a nice atmosphere, with very pleasant service.
A nice place to eat and drink after a day of seeing great arts.
Excellent in every way. The mango sorbet was a burst of refreshing flavour. The pasta was outstanding! Prompt attentive service.
Greeting was excellent.Table was accessible as requested.Menu choices very limited.Disappointing. Price for bread excessive though it was good.Quality of food was good.Portions skimpy.
Servers pleasant but service was a bit slow.
As museum restaurants go this one is of a high quality. There is an interesting drinks menu and a lot of the food sounded delicious in a modern space. However, I found the food we ordered to be mediocre and I expected more for the price range. I also have a pepper allergy so there were many things I couldn’t eat and the options I were given were simply dishes with items taken out instead of substitutes, which I have become accustomed to for this type of restaurant (ex. roasted vegetable salad came without roasted vegetables and nothing to replace it). That being said the service was great and my fellow guests enjoyed their meals so if you don’t have an allergies it seems like a great post museum option.
