Slow service and expensive
This meal was one of the best I have had in a long time!
Great menu and specials!. Was hard to decide what to order! Started with a salad special that was Butter lettuce with strawberries, pears ,pistachio, goat cheese with a strawberry vinaigrette! It was delicious. I Had the Parmesan Risotto with wild boar and it was
Absolutely marvelous. Really flavorful but not too heavy. My husband had rack of wild boar special and that too was wonderful. I also had a signature cocktail and it was delicious flavor combo but the only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 on value is I thought the signature drink was overpriced. I rarely have “specialty” drinks or hard liquor so may very well have been priced fairly but personally was more than I would usually spend for a drink.( my fault, i should have asked). Out server Erica Lynn was also delightful. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back!
Great service, great food.
We had been looking forward to dining here but this first impression was terrible. The calamari was flavorless and lacked seasoning. The staff admitted they forgot and didn’t charge us for it. The brussel sprouts were greasy and also lacked flavor. The bruschetta campana was very good. The special risotto with fillet Mignon was delicious and my wife enjoyed the while sea bass she ordered. My kids liked the pizza but couldn’t finish their pasta because it was so bad. Service was slow and lackluster. They had paper napkins that you would find at a fast food joint rather than the cloth napkins that you expect at a nice restaurant. I enjoyed my entree but overall, a disappointing dining experience. Not sure we’ll be going back
I had the eggplant and my wife had the ravioli dinner. Both were delicious.
Our Irish waitress was attentive and fun.
Service is more than outstanding, without hovering. Alberto is a gem of a server. And the food is some of the best in the Conejo Valley. A great time with friends. We will be back!
We love this restaurant. The food and service is always excellent and they have a great selection on the menu with wonderful daily specials. The gelato is some of the best we have ever had!
Best cioppino I’ve ever had with natural tomatoes low sodium flavor and variety of seafood. The naan bread was toasty warm delicious with natural tomatoe sauce for dipping. For appetizer, we had the tagliatelle Bolognese entree with authentic ragu meat sauce —it was amazing !
My husband ordered the lasagna which tasted similar to the bolognese dish with cheese and tomato sauce.
Great romantic ambience as we sat in back near fireplace.
Great food, great drinks, the owners are fabulous!! Check the daily specials, the food is reasonability priced the drinks are a little pricey!! My wife and I found this place last month and have already been back three time. Highly Recommend!!
We ate at Al Mulinos for the first time this evening! Alberto, our server, was beyond exceptional. He recommended the meatballs, lasagna, and sponge cake. The food was amazing along with the ambiance. If you enjoy real authentic Italian, I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back. Couldn't have had a more pleasant date night!
Good food and drink. We got to taste the "recommended" wine, and it wasn't to our liking. Otherwise, we'd have bought a bottle and not been pleased. What we ended up selecting was very good, if a bit overpriced. The food special was spot on (quail ragu over pasta was particularly good) as was the butternut squash risotto with scallops and grilled shrimp. The whole chicken dish was also quite nice. The pear salad is always a winner, as is the wide selection of gelato. We'd wanted to try another dessert this time, but they'd already run out... at 7:30 PM! Service was spotty; server often disappeared for quite awhile; she might have had too many tables. But, she was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive when at our table We've also carried out; the food was always tasty and hot, but rarely ready when promised.
Food was superb! It was Valentine’s Day, they did not have enough staff, we were in a corner, with apparently no waiter or waitress. The owner kept stopping by at in frequent intervals. Other than that, we would definitely go back! Staff is super friendly.
Terrific service and delicious food! House made pasta dishes are outstanding.
Wonderful food! Friendly, quick service. Very nice ambiance despite being in a strip mall
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Wines are enjoyable as was the special martini. Always friendly and great food. The pear salad is fresh and delicious. The spaghetti was perfect. The branzino was even better with roasted califlower and an broccoli.
Great service and food. All around great experience. Will return frequently.
Loved it can’t wait to go again every dish was like a trip to Italy!
Excelllent service and food. Great find in Westlake Village. Loved the ambiance
Food was authentic and delicious. Our servers were very attentive and informative about specials and dietary restrictions. Will definitely come here again!
We showed up a half hour early to our reservation, a little miscalculation of time on my end but they sat us right away. The server which I suspect was the owner was so nice and took time to answer questions about the menu and specials. All the food was absolutely amazing, definitely had that homemade Italian taste. We will definitely be back!
Decent food with a really long wait to be seated and equally long wait to be served. We made a 7:45 reservation, arrived on time and didn’t get seated until 8:30. Once we order it was another 45 minutes for food to come. We received no apologies or excuses.
Food was incredible and some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. That being said our server was amazing and did the absolute best she could but food came out slowly as they were backed up. It seem like she didn’t have much backup but I can’t hold it against them because these things happen. Would 100% go again.
Portion size on eggplant parm very small for the price. It sat alone in a small square on the place with no sides.
Excellent food, friendly wait staff, and prompt service.
WHILE MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE PRAISED AL MULINOS, I WOULD NOT RETURN. THE SERVER CAME OVER TO TAKE A DRINK ORDER WE ASKED FOR A MINUTE AND SHE DIDNT RETURN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. SHE SAID WE WOULD GE T BREAD, WE DIDN'T. THE VIBE DIDNT MAKE YOU FEEL WELCOME. DISHES WERE NOT TYPICAL ITALIAN FOOD, I AM SURE THEY WERE REGIONAL. FOOD WAS GOOD. TOO MANY RULES ON THEIR MENU.
THEY DONT SEEM LIKE THEY WANT TO PLEASE PEPOPLE.
THE MENU SAYS IF YOU ORDER YOU FOOD AND DONT LIKE IT YOU HAVE TO PAY. THEY CHARGE FOR SPLITTING DISHES TOO. THAT IS NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. SORRY AL MULINO!
This restaurant had some very good reviews so we decided to check it out for our anniversary. Our server, Lynda was terrific and an obvious favorite of the regular local crowd. We started out with some bread, which almost became the highlight of the evening. A light pizza dough texture with olive oil and garlic spread over it. Next up was a fresh salad, a generous portion able to be shared by two. My wife ordered a lamb chop over a bed of risotto, which she found to be cooked perfectly and a very tasty dish. I ordered a linguine and seafood dish which was to be made up of clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp and scallops. Actually, it turned out to be scallop, as in one. The most tasty of the seafood inclusions and there was only one piece. The dish (a $26 entree) was primarily a calamari dish at best. Tasty, but not worth the price tag in my opinion. All in all, a decent but not an off-the-charts great meal. The shocking surprise turned out to be the $9 per bottle for sparkling water (we had two). Had I known this I would have ordered a couple of beers instead. Lynda saved the day with a celebratory desert in recognition of our anniversary. Bottom line, I won't be rushing back but expect I will return another day.
My favorite Italian restaurant. Calamari and salads were delicious. Papardelle with Ragu was great and the Filets were unreal and tender as could be. Only downside was I was too full this time to order my favorite tiramisu. Always the most friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended!
Everything was great! Great food, great service, and everyone who worked there was so nice to us. We will be visiting again.
its the Italian Restaurant we go to the most out of the five in our town
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Food is always so delicious and authentic. Their pizza is amazing!
We've been visiting Al Mulino multiple time since the restaurant was open. Their food and service are consistently enjoyable. Tonight we were celebrating our daughter's birthday and loved every minute of it. Everything we ordered was great - pizza was perfect and porcini risotto was out of this world. In addition to that, service was great, as always. Lynda was friendly and very helpful. Five stars!
Al Mulino serve wonderful pastas, risotto, and pizza. Check out the specials too.
This was our second visit, and it did not disappoint. Several in our party noted that the brussel sprouts were the BEST they've ever had, and they could have made a meal on them - and that's saying something about brussel sprouts! Service was excellent and the food was fantastic. One request though - please put calzone on the menu - yum!!!
As always - I recommend their specials.
The one I had Saturday night was an exceptional one - grilled octopus over crab & corn risotto. Magnifico !
Not for everyone but it was like eating in Italy.
Thank you Jean Luca, Marta and Linda.
We were greeted cordially by a hostess who promptly brought us to the table requested on the reservation. Our waitress Ellen explained the specials. She was very attentive the whole time we were there. The food was well prepared except that the clams and mussels could have had more meat to them. Otherwise it was a good dining experience.
I knew nothing about this restaurant while making the reservation and I could not be more pleased with my experience. The drinks were made with fresh herbs and fruit, the food was outstanding- all handmade pastas, authentic Italian food! It’s family owned, and they are a lovely family with a lovely wait staff. I lived in Italy so I’m particular about Italian restaurants. This one exceeded all my expectations.
Came here based on recommendations from several friends. Service was good/attentive at first, then restaurant got more crowded. Bread was good. We asked for more and never got any. Asked waiter twice, busboys 3 times. This was disappointing b/c bread was best part of meal.
Appetizers: burrata salad very good. Brussel sprouts terrible. Soft/mushy/flavorless.
Entrees: cold! I hate cold entrees. Gorgonzola filet was good but overcooked. Spinach and potatoes were ok. Carrots good. Chicken lasagna was good, but too much fennel. Mahi-mahi was terrible. Just terrible.
Dessert: chocolate mousse was meh.
Well, the "fresh" pasta was dried out in places; it was not silky, like fresh pasta is supposed to be. The pesto was very good though. The branzino I ordered had a terrible mussel sauce, which tasted a day or two past its prime. The mussels completely overwhelmed the delicate fish and the grilled veggies accompanying it, were lackluster. It was completely disappointing, I should have sent it back, along with the pasta, and not doing so was my second mistake.
The bread they brought out, fresh from the pizza oven, with a delicious tomato dipping sauce, made me think, in hindsight, I should have ordered a pizza.
Our server was delightful, but she was overly busy handling most, if not all, the tables, so good attention to detail lacked, like bringing pasta spoons to myself and my dining companion (who said her dish was very good). I won't go back to be honest. It was way overpriced for what I got. I expected so much more, my first mistake.
Number one gripe: totally disappointed in their pasta, which I went out of my way to order (and pay for) as a side dish because I desperately wanted to have delicious, handmade fresh pasta, which you should get from an Italian restaurant that features it.
$4.50 foe iced tea is crazy for a restaurant like this.
We love this neighborhood restaurant! Food is always consistent and service attentive. Enjoy sitting on the patio.
