The food is very close to authentic Mexican cuisine. The manager was superb in maintaining a perfect flow of ordering, serving and clearing of tables. We were there Friday (March 13, 2020) in the midst of the corona virus and the restaurant was run and maintained meticulously.
Great food, great service
Good place for quick, convenient Saturday night dinner.
To be fair, it was Margarita night, or something, so they were very busy. Waitress was apologetic. Not awful, but not great either. Food was good - different, imaginative, but again, not spectacular. Good value.
Everything was excellent.
We’ve been to Al Pastor many times, and the food is always phenomenal. Saturday night’s meal was no exception. The cauliflower tacos are my favorite, and I tried the brussel sprout fajitas, and they were delicious too. As always, we got the guac flight as an appetizer, and the whole family enjoyed that. The service on Saturday was not great, though. Our waitress was not attentive at all. We asked her for the menu again so we could order another round of drinks, but it took her so long to come back to us that we decided we would just leave for the night. Hopefully, the service will return to normal when we visit again, but Saturday’s service was disappointing.
Amazing tacos and margs!
Great food and service. Noise level is loud so works for groups, not necessarily for a date.
Atmosphere was Cozy. Service was Quick and Friendly. Food was Delicious.
Not really a Mexican restaurant. Food tastes more like Asian fusion. No Mexican spices at all.
Amazing margaritas!! Our server was fantastic, gave us great suggestions for our meals.
Best margaritas in exton by far
Menu is limited. We thought the cost was way too much for the margaritas.
The kitchen need to figure out a way to serve their soups hot. It’s the third time my husband order the chicken tortilla soup and it’s barely at room temperature. I am not sure a food inspector would like that either!
First time here the server was excellent; the drinks were good and very reasonably priced at happy hour we both had different versions of fajitas which were very good
I had the chicken fajitas and they were bland, very disappointing. The room was very noisy. Service was good.
Excellent food and service
Always great. Perfect for family outings. Service was excellent and the new chicken soup was fabulous, as was the Korean Beef Taco and everything else.
Awesome food! Love the cauliflower tacos and tried the seasonal turkey taco. Delicious! Always excellent and friendly service
We received a note that stated we didn’t make our reservation. We were most definitely there. By the hostess not checking we arrived and were seated affects my rating and I don’t get the points. The restaurant needs to correct this and train their staff.
Such fresh food for a great price.
We are regulars and we brought friends with us last night. We were all pretty disappointed with your service. The receptionists were very accommodating, The bar service was okay but the table service was poor. We had to find our waitress after a good while waiting at our table to get drinks. Then we were rushed. Later she flipped chairs onto tables around us I guess to push us out. We will likely be back but last night was disappointing.
Two groups in the room we were in, very very loud
The food is good, margaritas and guacamole are great. Ambiance is fun. Poor service this time though. At the bar, waited at least 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Sat at the table and did not have napkins and silverware until after our meals came so ate the guacamole and chips with paper cocktail napkins. When the check came we waited so long for our waiter to come back we had to grab another waitress to take it.
Had a variety of Tacos which were quite good especially the Cauliflower and Octopus ones. Drinks needed alcohol. Very loud place, difficult to have a conversation without shouting. I like energetic but maybe some acoustic correction plans should be in order.
Love the food - it is always good.
They were very busy - which is wonderful to see - and as a result services wasn't as attentive as it sometimes is - but fully understandable.
However the noise in was horrible - there was no music or anything - but the overall noise was so bad - we couldn't talk (none of us have hearing issues). It is suggested that they do something (wall hangings or something to help absorb the noise)
Having lived in Texas for the past 20 years, we have been looking for an authentic Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. Well, after dining at Al Pastor, we are still looking. The food was ok, and my wife really liked her tacos.
However it was disappointing - having to pay $4 for chips and salsa (always free in texas restaurants), then having rice and refried beans being an add-on side (my enchiladas came with no sides)... At the end is was overpriced for a ok dinner.
The final negative was that we were seated at the table next to the only other patrons in the restaurant - who were talking so loud we could not talk to each other.
Will not be coming back.
Food was reasonably good. Menu somewhat difficult to understand as to what accompanied items listed. It was also a bit difficult to read the menu given the rather low lighting and font size and colors used. Most Mexican restaurants offer chips and salsa gratis but this was a menu item for $4. In addition, a plain glass of club soda which many restaurants also offer free of charge or for a nominal fee was $3.50, rather outrageous and not a whole lot less expensive than a beer. First time, last time!
A great birthday date night restaurant!
We had a great experience. We couldn’t wait all week to go here. We had the nachos, cheesesteak burritos, octopus tacos, cauliflower tacos, grilled chicken tacos and Mexican fried ice cream. All of it was awesome. The chef Sarah was very friendly and amazing! Can’t wait to come back soon!
We tried the guacamole flight and it was SO GOOD. 3 different distinct flavors that I could have totally just made a meal out of. Also really enjoyed a cauliflower taco, which I’ve never had anyone before. Great drinks and awesome service.
Nice place, decent food, somewhat slow service. Overall pretty good. I would go back
Excellent food happy hour specials ! Cauliflower tacos are so good !!!
Friendly, inviting place. We are outside which was pleasant. Food was good; tamales were dry, tacos were tasty, shrimp salad was very good but simple.
We will return.
Very nice experience
Great prices for happy hour.
The food was amazing! Kudos to the chef! My favorite was the cauliflower taco and my husband had the special that night- an alligator taco, which he loved! The nachos were delicious and the flan was so amazing!
Our family of 6 went to Al Pastor to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we needed to change the reservation time; the staff at Al Pastor was so accommodating and friendly about the change and they even waited patiently for all of our party to arrive! The food was delicious; we all got something different from each other so that we could sample different dishes and we found that everyone's dish was so yummy. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The ambience at Al Pastor is great - fun and cool, but not too loud. Finally, the Al Pastor margaritas are the BEST!!! Great time and great food!
The best margaritas ever!
With the change in the weather, it was a little cool inside the restaurant. They weren't super busy for a Friday night and I thought the service a little slow. Their food is good, drinks a little pricey.
