We had an wonderful experience at Alley & Vine! Food was unique and delicious. Service was perfect. A little expensive and we found the menu a little limited (particularly the mains) — but we all really enjoyed every bite of every course. We loved that our server encouraged us to share — we shared all courses including desert and every single dish was wonderful.
Excellent food and even better, an excellent staff! Thank You!
Some of the dishes were absolutely spectacular. Some of them were pretty good but overpriced. None were bad. The ambiance was pretty mediocre. There was actually creativity and care put into the dishes, which is saying more than many expensive restaurants.
We sat upstairs where it was quite nice. The service was wonderful. Very attentive. Food was delicious. I would definitely go back.
Very interesting and creative menu. Excellent service. We particularly enjoyed a lovely polenta and black truffle appetizer, the pumpkin and brown butter soup and the duck confit.
Amazing food quality and presentation in a bistro/wine bar atmosphere
Great food, nice atmosphere and stellar service. The cocktails were also creative and delicious.
Delicious. Fantastic dinner and great service. The cocktails are outstanding too. Beautiful design, wonderful ambience and the front patio is lovely. This place is a gem, not to be missed!
Delicious, Quality food, Great service, will recommend to friends and definitely I’ll come back for more.
Delicious meal and service all around. Highly recommend for a date, special event, girls night or dinner for one.
Food and cocktails were amazing! Especially enjoyed the truffle polenta. The server was knowledgeable and accommodated our fidgety 4 year old very well.
We’ll be back as soon as possible!
I absolutely adore Alley & Vine for so many reasons--the service is impeccable, the cocktails are intriguing and the food is phenomenal. It seems like each time I've been there (always for brunch), the menu is different and has more than a few options of things I really, really want to try.
Good food. Small portions. Not good for large groups.
Everything was great. First visit, and now we have a new go-to place!
We had a scallop tartare with apple, passion fruit, ginger, shiso and toasted cashews … and a butter poached sturgeon with potatoes, chard and caviar champagne fondue that were both simply sensational. So was our server Greta.
Love Alley and Vine! Food is delicious and the staff is the friendliest.
I would highly recommend Alley and Vine. The food was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was excellent and service was superb. The food was absolutely delicious. Dessert was fantastic as well. Looking forward to going back.
Old friend visiting
Ingredient quality, and local sourcing of ingredients is why you come here. Preparation is excellent across the board. Flavors for the the squash soup, truffle polenta w/ egg, and pumpkin dessert were A+. Coctails were expertly made and the wines by the glass were nicely chosen for the pino and cab sauv that I had. Only culinary negatives were flavors on the mains (steak / duck) weren't that impressive and seemed a bit too experimental.
Portion sizes / value is this restaurants biggest weakness. You will not leave this restaurant satisfied even with a "bite", starter, main dish, and dessert per person. You will also pay $100/person plus for the privilege of eating here.
I'd highly recommend this place for date night to experiment with the variety of flavors and ingredients they have. Take the kids somewhere else.
Always amazing food and friendly service!
Great food. Service was ok. Waiter seemed like we were a bit of an inconvenience, and it wasn't that busy, but it wasn't that much of an issue.
The food was good but the service was slow. It may have been an off night for them or perhaps it's just Saturday night service. Also, we felt that the price was a bit high for what we received. We've been to other restaurants of the same caliber where we've spent less money and gotten more for it. Would recommend with caution.
Great starters menu and wonderful cocktails!
We've dined at Alley & Vine on multiple occasions and have enjoyed it every time. The staff is so friendly and everything we've tried has been delicious. We really appreciate how often the menu changes too. We'll definitely go back.
Service was phenomenal. All the food was delicious. Will be coming again.
I love the location and the alley that leads you to this place. Food was great and portions are on the smaller side so order a few starter before your main dish.
Friends and I have been to Alley and Vine many times, and the food is wonderful and the service is excellent. Before Alley & Vine opened, this level of cuisine could only be found in San Francisco. Now we can have it any time in downtown Alameda.
Plus, the staff is friendly and customer focused. The chef came to our table to tell us about the appetizers we ordered. It is the best restaurant in the Bay Area.
Attentive service and delicious food with unique flavor and texture combinations.
We chose to go tapas style and ordered 4 appetizers/bites. Duck liver, pork cheeks, scallop tartare and wild mushroom.
It was quite superb.
We had a wonderful time trying a number of seafood dishes and cocktails! Clearly the team here is well experienced with beautiful presentation and the use of inspiring local ingredients. Our service was warm and considerate, Jorson was fun to talk to and everyone we interacted with from the kind host to the other servers was a good balance of professional as well as warm.
We can’t wait to come back to try out more of the wine list next time and more small bites and entrees that caught our eye. We really enjoyed the mussel escabeche and the lobster Tom Kha soup in particular!
Regular date night. Only prob w for my partner. We both ordered the steak , he envisioned a seared steak , the presentation was more like a prime rib. I had same but also really enjoyed mine.
They replaced it w a Cauliflower steak ?
But he said it was delicious and a worthy replacement
All the rest was the usual hood and delicious
Our 5th time there
The restaurant has a section of sad seating on a mezzanine level. It was hot. The duck liver was served drowned in maple syrup sauce. The surgeon was good. Mussels too. Needed a bit of salt. For $100 / person, it was a fair experience. Nothing to go back to.
Delicious meal. Don’t miss the biscuit and caviar appetizer.
We really enjoyed Alley & Vine! Creative and satisfying food kept us full, and the service was excellent!
Staff was amazing with suggestions delivery of food, presentation and wonderful personality.
A great amount of time in between orders was taken; the bread ($7.00) ordered served 1rst was hard on molars to chew on, difficult to cut through with a knife after pulling apart rubber; thumbs up on utensils being meticulously clean- portions on bites & appetizers definitely reminded us they were not dinner. Wish background jazz music piped in existed - Chet Baker. . a trumpet in the background. . . then it would have been painless during those in between servings.
The steak took a very long time and then it came out VERY rare. Service was nice, ambience was nice, and the apps and cocktails were pretty good.
All around fantastic find. Judging by the availability of last minute reservations this place hasn’t been fully discovered and that’s a blessing for folks like me! Food was delicious. Service excellent. Ambience of the vine covered large outdoor area that gives this restaurant its name is lovely. Worth a trip to Alameda for sure.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The price was high, but it was worth the splurge.
This place was way over priced for not only the quantity of food but also the quality. We ordered about 6 different items and none were very tasty at all , very disappointed after reading so many good reviews
