Almond Bar & Eatery

Was the last night prior to going to Teir 3 and we wanted to visit a local independent restaurant. The restaurant was overbooked with too many customers for the size and this impacted the service levels. It took far too long to take our order and drinks we received our main meal prior to receiving starters, then waited another 5 min for our cutlery. Whilst finishing our meal the hostess visited our table to apologise and asked if we wanted the dessert menu while we were still eating we asked for another drink. The beverages arrived 15 min later so we asked for the bill due to feeling uncomfortable with the amount of people in the restaurant and the poor quality of service. On receiving the bill the starters were still on the bill and had to be removed.
I can understand the restaurant trying to gain as much revenue prior to going to another tier and wanted to support the restaurant but to impact the service and quality made the visit not worth the effort.

Mums birthday and it was good, slightly pricey for the food itself but it was good nevertheless.

From arriving to the restaurant to leaving I can’t say our experience got any better. Sitting there for over 20+ minutes without being offered a drink whiles the restaurant itself wasn’t busy seemed odd. To then having our ticket lost with our starters on. To be honest I wish the bread and oil dip hadn’t of come as it was like dishwater. We had to ask for our second starter we ordered to be shouted at from the chef in the kitchen saying we wasn’t getting it due to him running out, even though three other tables after us had order and got there’s. I was shocked as I would never expect to be shouted at as a paying customer. Our mains come and again I think I would of go a better dinner from across the road . I asked for some Mayo and again had to wait . I watched the waiter I asked eat his desert and have a laugh and a joke in the kitchen whiles my dinner went cold. I had to ask another waiter at this point because the wait itself was unbelievable. We where then offered free cocktails to find them and the other started on the bill at the end, the cocktails itself I’d give a miss too. The restaurant was by no means understaffed I would just say undertrained. I wouldn’t recommend.

First time here and we will be back. Food and service were great.

Been to almond a few times now and meals are always lovely. This time round I had duck spring rolls which were nice and then steak. Steak was rib eye apparently but I’m not convinced. Priced at just over £22 was so disappointing. I ate half of it and the rest was fatty. It was more like a rump steak (medium in size). Chips were delish , chunky and tasty. Peppercorn sauce was tasteless. There was just 2 of us and we both had a cocktail each, bottle rose between us, glass of lemonade, 2 starters (duck spring rolls) and both had steak and chips and the bill was £93. Steak was definitely not rib eye and not great quality and over priced. Staff were lovely though and service was good. It’s important to support local businesses especially now but this experience left me disappointed which was a first for the almond.

We’ve become regulars at this local restaurant. The food was delicious as always and the service and atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming.

We enjoyed our time at your eatery - the food, drinks, service, environment/setting was vintage but modern and beautiful - overall I would totally and highly recommend your hospitality/venue to anyone. We made an excellent choice.

At the Almond you are guaranteed a good standard of food and service. Due to Covid restrictions the menu is currently a little bit limited but this is not the restaurant's fault.

second time in few months weve dined here, and was just as good an experience as the first time. Very safe surrounding given the climate, and will look forward to visiting again when the times right

The food was really tasty and the staff are really nice and friendly.
The only thing I could pick up on was the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The oil and vinegar came in a small metal "pot", instead of a shallow dish. This meant that in order to reach the balsamic vinegar, the bread was drenched in oil, which was very unappetising:(

Place was fairly busy at the time, but then quietened down. But food and drink excellent as was the service.

Visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and once again was 5 star , the food was delicious, the guy who was working alone was brilliant , nothing was to much trouble , quality food , very covid safe ,

Overpriced. Food tasted nice but small portions 6 chunky chips, no salad burger looked lost on the plate, I would recommend you consider using smaller plates if you are going to continue to serve these portion sizes. Service was slow. Waited 10 minutes for drinks, and again waited to pay. As I say food was good but overall I left feeling disappointed.

Food was excellent and large portions

The food was as good as it always is but the lack of social distancing was appalling. We were lucky enough to be given a table on the side but the main eating area was as lacking in space as it generally is- to the extent that had we not been seated where we were, we would have left. We had to ask for the QR Covid code which is supposed to be on display and when eventually it was brought to our table it would not work (although I appreciate this may not be down to the restaurant, the main concern was that it was not displayed).

I would recommend Almond for the food but not for the safety aspect, which is priority, so at present I would not recommend Almond to a friend. This is the first restaurant I have been to in Liverpool which has not complied with social distancing measures.

Regularly dine at Almond food and wine spot on and the staff are always so friendly and attentive
