We went for breakfast and it was empty at the time. Can’t beat the views. Food is good. We would go back
Ashlyn, our server was very good at her job.
She made us feel welcome right from the start and attended to all of our requests with a positive, friendly, can- do attitude.
The breakfast menu was very limited for vegetarian and no vegan options (asked for a friend!!) but we were assured that we would be accommodated should we request it - perhaps some advance notice would work for both parties.
There is a dress code advisory on the booking form but I did notice that this does not seem to be strict (a rather revealing pair of shorts and vest top on a woman at the next table).
There was no one at the host stand when I arrived (early) but a server assiting another guest acknowledged me straight away.
All the staff greeted us warmly the setting is well......just stunning.
All in all a 5 * experience.
Dated, overpriced and very unprofessional establishment. Excuses instead of straight up apologies on a notably bad experience/service. Even the server knew it was rough. Everyone seated around us was also peeved at the experience they were having, and how long everything took- no one even bothered with dessert. The table we reserved wasn’t ready when we arrived, then It took 45 mins to get a basic salad, water and a horrid “cocktail” that tasted like a watery dive bar hi-ball, another 30-40 mins for dinner to arrive, and when it did it was not worth the wait.
Stunning vistas and delicious food, but oh so slow and inattentive service. Took forever for drinks, even longer for food, and very little checking in for new drinks or anything needed for our meal.
Our lunch felt like it crawled and that we were forgotten, despite being one of only a handful of tables. Disappointing as we had hoped we had found a great new dining spot for us and family.
Beautiful views! Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious. Would totally recommend this restaurant.
The venue and view great. We were disappointed in the food was expecting a higher standard.
My husband and I came to Villa Aerie for my Birthday as a surprise. Whilst the view was spectacular and our server Isabelle lovely - our food was extremely disappointing.
We had the bread to start and it tasted burnt. We then ordered the duck and flank steak (only real red meat option and no other choice in steaks).
My Pesto circle was burnt (I scraped off the top). My potato cake was burnt at the bottom (again scraped it off) which tainted the Jus. The steak at medium was chewy. My husbands Duck was chewy - so much so we noticed each other chewing!
I didn’t complain on the night as our server was already dealing with another table complaint about the steak. It wasn’t her fault. I could not get rid of the taste of burnt. This was a real shame as I was super excited to eat at Villa Aerie. The beer was also not chilled.
Maybe the grill was set too high! But surely someone is checking food that comes out - it wasn’t overly busy 😞
A beautiful restaurant in a stunning location. Only complaint is that the portions were very small while the food is quite expensive. Don't mind so much if there is plenty of it, but based on how little was served, it does not feel like good value.
Everything was excellent, food service, view and the overall atmosphere.
Food was delicious, service was delightful, and the view from the restaurant was awesome!
The receptionist was just pitiful. Attitude when we walked in was condescending and she sat us beside a noisy table when many others tables were open. I suggest she work in another part of the complex.
The waitress was excellent and saved the day.
Our breakfast experienced was wonderful. We love the food especially the coffee and cookie.
Amazing meal with a stunning view! The deck is amazing.
Phenomenal food and drinks!!! Will be back for sure.
We decided to try this restaurant again after a bad experience last week. Booked a reservation a week out for 4 people as a celebration, Arrived on time and was given a table for 8. less than intimate. asked for a different table. drinks were slow, appetizers were slow. ordered main dinner in a rush when the server advised us at 8 pm that the kitchen was now closed as they were short staffed. dinner was cold. 830 pm, we were the only guests left, all the lights were turned off in the restaurant. not a great experience. we will not be going back there. sad, such a lovely place but not worth the $400 dinner bill.
Amazing atmosphere, views and food! We will be back for sure.
The food and location were fantastic. However the service was poor. Our server did not seem to be happy to be at her job and her care factor was seriously lacking. It also seemed very inconvenient that we asked to be seated outside on the patio.
We ordered our meals and the wrong meal came for my sister in law. We immediately told the server that it was the wrong meal and her response was " oh sorry, I'm sure you will really like this one" She said if we wanted to order the other (correct one!) it would be 15-20 minutes.
Since we were tight for time my sister in law ate this meal instead and was later charged full price for the item!
Food is always good, view is spectacular. Unfortunately we had made a birthday reservation for a particular area of the restaurant as one of our party had mobility issues and this information was not conveyed to the host who seated us. It seemed we were a little neglected as the food seemed to take an unusually long time to arrive and our server didn’t really check with us or stop to explain why. Hoping this was just a one off as we are usually very satisfied with the service here.
Outstanding, delicious food and spectacular setting. My Arctic cod was much more than just a superbly prepared fish dish, but included mussels, shrimp and calamari and with the wonderful sauce it presented many layers of flavour.
Recommendations for enhancement : 1) a few slices of simple bread should really be included, to complement the main ingredients and soak up the wonderful sauce, 2) the patio (first lower patio) was too warm, since the west wind meant that there was basically no breeze; perhaps a simple fan would have helped.
The setting and view is amazing atop the Malaga. The tables on the highest level of the restaurant provide the most expansive view. The staff are very professional and attentive to your needs. The food was very good. The chef knows how to cook sophisticated dishes with great flavours.
A hair in my friends salad ( we were not charged for her salad on the bill), The drinks from the bar was very slow, service was slow. Dinner was not hot ( had scallops and they were somewhat warm), Surprisingly not what we expected.
We can't say enough about the food, amazing and the view, also amazing. However, we found service very slow and the ambiance of the hotel lacking for what is supposed to be a very high end restaurant in a 5 star hotel. Work needs to be done to repair cracking and peeling decks in the outdoor dining areas and indoor needs to be decorated in an appealing fashion. Wine list is limited if you are not willing to pay top dollar for everyday wines.
Food and drinks were amazing, service was awesome, and, manager Jack, made it an even better evening with his wine knowledge and recommendations!!!
Bella, Jack and team are the best!! Food is outstanding , facility top notch !!!
Stunning view. Exceptional food. Lovely and engaging service. Even very clean bathrooms ! A true delight, and an exceptional experience that we can highly recommend.
Gnocchi was not good and was returned for an alternate pasta.
Noise from the highway below was significant.
Service and final food was very good.
Loved the food ( You must try the ravioli! WOWZA!) THe view is sensational, staff were friendly and great service! Coming back soon again!
A beautiful resort. Great food and presentation Service is number one
Our evening of dining at the Alpina restaurant lived up to our expectations based on previous experience. The setting is superb, the ambience awesome, the service excellent and the food incredible. It is very good value for an evening of dining pleasure.
For a high end experience and an awesome view this is the place. The food is delicious and well presented
This is an outstanding restaurant with wonderful service and a spectacular view.
A great place to eat with a fantastic view and good service. Breakfast prices are reasonable and the food is well presented.
We had lovely time celebrating our 10th year anniversary there yesterday evening. We are very pleased with the food, the service and the views! It was a special time for us, and we would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat! 10/10!
A Beautiful Brunch!
What a lovely and delicious way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I took my husband here for brunch and he was very impressed! We had the perfect view table on the patio. What a spectacular view! We both ordered a version of the eggs Benedict, his with mushroom and mine with spinach. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the potatoes were delicious, and the mixed greens were the right accompaniment with just a hint of dressing. Our
mimosas were also scrumptious with fresh squeezed orange juice!
I Love Love Love Alpina Restaurant. Bar none, it is the Best restaurant on Southern Vancouver Island. The view takes your breath away, you feel transported to the fiords of Norway. The food is delicious, every meal I've had, Wow. The service is also outstanding, you are treated like a movie star. We go for special occasions, but the pricing is reasonable for dining there regularly, too.
Tried all the salads, seafood pasta, short ribs, gnocchi, ravioli, burger. All outstanding. View of course amazing, service excellent. Highly recommend.
My table would have been great if only I had been able to sit. I arrived at 10:15 and there was a huge lineup. It became evident that the restaurant manager was not there otherwise this would have been handled different. Several of your staff would come around to the first people in line and say “we will be with you shortly” but then make them wait up to 20 minutes before sitting them. Eventually, my party and I left to eat elsewhere. Horrible experience and it will make me think twice before coming again. Lack of communication was appalling. Alone of your staff should have come out to let the guests know why there is a lineup and how long we can expect to be standing outside. Or at least sit people and give them drinks or something. Makes your restaurant and the hotel look very bad.
