My husband and I enjoyed our evening at The American Bounty restaurant. The students were especially attentive, and the food was superb. We ordered Fennel Soup, Beet and Citrus Salad, Seafood Pie and Chicken Dinner with Roasted Carrots. Would definitely go back.
Wonderful meal. Wait staff was very helpful and prompt when I asked about food allergens. Can't wait to bring the whole family!
We try to stop in Poughkeepsie on our way to our son’s in Boston from Virginia just to eat at the CIA. It is a real gem and the work of the students and their instructors is just wonderful.
American Bounty is part of the Culinary Institute of America. It's a lovely restaurant with good food and service. Students at CIA are doing it all with the guidance of their instructors. Very well done.

My wife and I along with two friends went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The service and overall dining experience was delightful. Someone in the kitchen remembered her birthday and brought out a beautiful dessert.
Highly recommend going for any occasion!

Party of 6. Not our first visit. Knowing that the waitstaff are budding chefs, it is expected that service is a learning experience. However, when wine was offered to be poured from a carafe left on table so waitperson could deliver beverages to another table...he never came back. Extra bread was offered...never brought. A soup was delivered AFTER all 6 entrees. Plates for a shared side were placed on table but no side was ever delivered. We told waitperson after entrees were consumed that we no longer wanted the side. There was no other opportunity as there was no quality check. The portions were embarrassingly small. It was almost a joke. Really! Quality of food was good. Extra dessert sample was well received by all. Finally, when 3 credit cards were presented requesting that the bill be divided equally, here’s what happened. One was for $160. One was for $115. And one for $80. REALLY? We realize they are not math majors but we didn’t feel this was an unreasonable request. Oversight by supervisory staff was visible but non-participatory. Having been here on prior occasions and enjoying wonderful meals, we hope this is just an anomaly.

Students are so sweet but could use more help learning what it means to wait on customers. Our food was brought and placed and not a word was spoken. It’s an added touch to have a small presentation about the dish. The pork belly app was delicious but could have been heightened with a crispy skin. The Napoleon dessert was two crispy layers of Phyllo dough. It could have been elevated with two more layers and a tart fruit accompaniment. Or even redone with a flakey pastry instead of a crispy one. Delicious, good value, will be back for sure!
Wonderful experience. The food was fabulous. The wait staff were very well informed and help - we were also offered a tour of the kitchen.
The service and food was excellent, and I can't Thank the Restuarant enough for getting all 10 of us at the same table and in a private space! Such a great experience and would absolutely reccommend the American Bounty at the Culinary Institute of America.

Fantastic food and service.
The food was excellent! I expected a little more for the price, especially with the charcuterie board, but that quality of everything was great. The restaurant was quiet as well, which we enjoyed. Overall, I did enjoy my visit and would recommend it to a friend.

We had a great time as always dining at the CIA.
We had a disappointing experience. We completely understand that the restaurant is a classroom an that the staff is students but basic standards of dinning were missed. Our server had a hard time providing information regarding the sourcing of product, bread service was missed until our entrees were half-eaten, An the back sever filled our glass with still water when we were drinking sparkling. When we told him it was correct he still continued to pour the incorrect water. Although our server was friendly the attentiveness was lacking and the details just missed the mark.
We were hoping that the food would save the day but again lackluster. The mushroom broth had sand granules in it as the mushrooms were obviously not cleaned correctly, The wagyu was very chewy and thought it was odd to be told to order it medium as it tends to be tough. Which we should have avoided as it was not tender. The rest of the components were under seasoned and lacking. While my vegetarian grit and mushroom dish was good but nothing special or innovative. We also got the radish side which was underseasoned and bland.
We choose to skip dessert as felt it would be another disappointment. We do not blame the students in any form. But the obvious lack of attention from the instructors was very clear. We get it's a classroom and there will be mistakes but, when you're a paying guest there are just details that need to be met.
It is always a pleasure to dine at the CIA and American Bounty. Delicious food, beautifully and graciously presented in a lovely setting.

I realize that students serve, so can forgive having the wrong dish brought out. However , all coffee and tea were cold for all the diners , six of us. Should not happen at the CIA.
We had the pick two savory and one sweet for $19. The food was delicious and looked beautiful.

The meal, beginning to end, was unbelievable. Started with the board, seafood and steak for dinner and mousse and apple dessert and ALL of it was amazing. The sangria was the best I’ve ever had. All of that with a reasonable price tag made the evening perfect.
Had an absolutely lovely lunch at the CIA's American Bounty. Food was excellent and a terrific bargain @ $19 for a three-course lunch! Maybe would shave a point or two off for service. The young staff does a very commendable job, with just a couple of glitches (forgot the wine I ordered, for example). Overall, terrific experience; looking forward to trying CIA's other restaurants.
The campus and views are beautiful. We really enjoyed walking around inside Roth hall and outside around the campus. The decor inside the restaurant was equally as beautiful. The food and service was perfect. The only negative comment I have is the food should have been served hotter.
We had a really nice experience. Our server was excellent. We were able to learn that he is close to graduation.
The $19 prix fixe was an amazing value. They do add a 20% service charge to all orders, and to tipping is allowed. We had three courses, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted amazing.
The only thing that I would say wasn’t perfect was one drink we ordered. I think the specialty cocktails are on point, however we ordered an old fashioned and I don’t think they know how to correctly make one. There were no bitters, no cherry, a massive piece of orange rind, and the type of ice cubes that they put in your soda at McDonalds. It was also the most expensive thing at $22 which made it a bit more disappointing.
Either way, eating at the CIA is always an experience we would recommend.
Delightful lunch at a table by the windows overlooking the cloister garden. Our student server helped me order a vegan meal, much appreciated.
We started out at The Tavern which was nice and had a few drinks there. The kitchen had closed but the bartender was nice enough to ask about a cheese plate which came out promptly. Unfortunately for dinner the service was very slow. We waited almost a hour and a half for our entrees. Everyone was very nice and clearly trying their best but we were informed the delay was due to the kitchen staff being only on day two. Desserts came out promptly and were magnificent.
Been wanting to experience a meal at the CIA for awhile and we could not have been more disappointed. Waiter was pleasant and earnest but didn’t know the menu and lacked basic service skills. Entree delivered ice cold. I could go on with more faux pas. As it’s a teaching environment, there also appeared to be no one providing oversight. Hope it was just an “off” night.
Food excellent. Server great. Only negative was time between courses.
My wife and I have been coming to the Culinary for over 30 years. This was by far the most disappointing service we ever experienced. We also had first time guests with us. If my opinion matters, things were much better when new students started at the St. Andrew restaurant and the senior students finished at the American Bounty.
No students no matter how new, should be put on the floor without knowing the menu and without having tasted the food!
The restaurant is beautiful with widely spaced tables so it is very quiet. All three courses, for both of us, was fabulous. It was a great way to celebrate Valentines Day. The three course winter special of $19 is amazing. Everyone should try the American Bounty.
Location/Setting - gorgeous!
Restaurant - elegant, but sitting by windows in winter can be cold (radiation through glass).
Staff - very good, with some very minor mistakes, but very personable.
Food & Presentation - very good, but not haute cuisine preparation or taste.
Pricing - fair, however, 20% built in gratuity is a bit much for students who are learning and still making errors.
Delicious innovative food. Great value with winter prix fixe menu. Service was a bit slow this time. We waited about 40 minutes for our food, including the rolls which are usually served with drinks.
Everything was just perfect, except the "energetic" noise level. The four ladies at the next table were chatting incessantly.
