Amuse on Broadway
Excellent restaurant with creative and delicious food! Wonderful options for both a vegetarian and a meat lover! Don't miss out on the amazing hummus and crispy artichokes!
Thank you, it seems that the artichokes can never come off the menu.
If you are new to Amuse, I need you to make a reservation right now, and thank me later.
Amuse served the best Mediterranean cuisine that I have had the pleasure of enjoying, which is meaningful to me, as I have eaten Mediterranean-inspired food at well-reviewed restaurants in several big cities (NYC, London, Paris, and Sydney). Compared locally, the food that I had at Amuse (specifics about each dish that I had are below) was equal or better than food that I have eaten at 15 Church and Mouzon House, a personal favorite of mine in the area.
In terms of ambiance/vibe, Amuse has an eclectic feeling, which I describe as a blend of secret restaurant, deli-by-day, open-kitchen, and chef’s table (with the chef wishing everyone goodnight as each table finished).
What I Ordered... the Merguez and Potato Hash, Octopus and Chorizo Stew, Lamb and Eggplant Tagine (as a small plate), and the Venison and Pumpkin Tagine (as a small plate), and an Orange Olive Oil Cake for dessert.
My Thoughts on Each Dish... the Merguez and Potato Hash was a deliciously salty dish, balanced well with the inclusion of a fried egg. The Octopus and Chorizo Stew was a warm and spicy way to counter the evening chill. The Lamb and Eggplant Tagine was outstanding: melt-in-your-mouth meat, superbly cooked eggplant, and spiced robustly. The Venison and Pumpkin Tagine was a delicious, unique, and interesting twist that incorporated seasonal, pumpkin flavors. The Orange Olive Oil Cake was a appealingly plated and sweet/tangy palate cleanser to end a meal packed with bold flavors.
Thank you, Michael. It was a pleasure cooking for you last night, and I appreciate the kind words. We look forward to having you again.
A hidden gem! We loved the flavorful Mediterranean menu loaded with seasonal vegetables. The carrot soup and venison pumpkin tagine were both fantastic. The “pop-up” feel of having the restaurant take over a deli space by night was a surprise but made it feel that much more special, like we stumbled on a secret location. Wonderful food by a chef who really loves what he does and cares about what goes on the plate more than the trappings around the table.
We appreciate the kind words and will continue to keep working hard to be a great choice for dining in Saratoga.
Food and service were exceptional! We’ll be back!
Owner didn’t notify open table that the restaurant was closed the day of our reservation. (Friday 9/18 in the evening)
I sincerely apologize for the mix up. I did block out that weekend, but upon changing our business hours I inadvertently reopened that night. I would like to invite you back to Amuse to enjoy a meal on me. Again, I'm sorry I inconvenienced you that night and would love the opportunity to make it up to you. Dominic Colose.
delicious food, located in a back alley so it’s quiet. the service was great however we were the only ones there. Good mediterranean food which is hard to find in this area. the grape leaves are amazing!
Adorable restaurant. Europe casual feel. Server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was DELICIOUS! Desserts, especially the chocolate cake, were also fantastic. Will definitely be back! New fave.
Every single thing we put in our mouths was delectable. I've never had better hummus in my life. That being said, I feel their menu, though diverse, could've been a little more extensive and I wish it had more everyday offerings that would keep more people happy.
Fabulous Mediterranean food, mostly small plates, but with a few larger tagines and other dishes. Great place for dinner and also for happy hour, when excellent wines are very inexpensive, and a group of friends can share hummus, stuffed grape leaves, babaganoush (this is exceptional), roasted artichokes (to die for), anchovies, beautifully thin serrano ham with truffle butter, merguez sausage with red lentils, you get the idea. All comes with yummy bread and pita. Each dish is beautifully presented and enhanced by a perfectly seasoned shmear. Larger dishes include tagines with couscous and a cazuela of butternut squash, chickpeas, tomatoes, and eggplant well complimented with bulgur salad. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Casual dining but elevated tasty food. Some of the prices are on par for the area but not aligned to relaxed atmosphere. Best deals are during Happy Hour.
My son and his wife had eaten here and had a great experience so we decided to try Amuse as well. We also managed to go at the end of happy hour where appetizers were 1/2 price and wine $6 a glass for a healthy pour. We tried 4 different apps all very good : stuffed grape leaves, roasted artichoke hearts, babaganoush with pita which was wonderful and a salmon ceviche . For entrees my wife had the whole roasted trout which she raved about bones and all actually not that hard to eat properly and I had the pork belly with gigante beans and little potatoes. Although not a huge portion of pork belly it was filling and very tasty with a chorizo spiced sauce that was very good. All in all a wonderful meal great service from Tara Penge and warm welcome by Chef Colose. We will definitely return. Oh and it was probably the only resturant in Saratoga where you can talk to each other without yelling!
Amuse offers a refreshing change to the standard full menus found in Saratoga. The menu runs the gamut of Mediterranean foods with both small and large plates, all reasonably priced. The chef is on hand to greet you and more than willing to discuss the food and accommodate the guests.
A wonderful dinner with friends. All enjoyed their meals. The server was very attentive but not intrusive. Menu was somewhat small, but very interesting. Our server explained a few items that we were not familiar with. We arrived during the happy hour and small plate appetizers and wines were wonderful. Entrees were wonderfully spiced and very fresh. My trout was cooked perfectly.
We will definitely return.
A wonderful evening with Dominic Colose and his team. Everyone was friendly and helpful as they guided us through the menu. We tried many different items and we were very pleased. Delicious! We look forward to returning soon. Highly recommended.
Beautifully presented and delicious small plates and entrees! Most were presented in tagines which made for a lovely Middle Eastern vibe. I can’t say enough about the mélange of scents that rose from the food in layers of olfactory pleasure!
The wines were delicious as well from the small but excellent list.
The individual French press coffees were a fine finish to a wonderful meal!
Everything about Amuse is perfect! Interesting food, small plates for sharing, larger ones as well. The service is excellent and welcoming. I will visit often
Special dinner experience was beyond our expectations. Delicious food and excellent wine selection.
The restaurant was charming and comfortable, and the food was fabulous and unique...you'll want to try one of everything. Service was great as well. Can't say enough good things and can't wait to go back!
We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed talking with the chef about what we were eating. We will be back!
I've now been here twice and I highly recommend it. The food is outstanding. Yoy can tell it's made with love and experience. Try as many things as possible. The Wednesday night tapas and drinks happy hour allowed us to sample lots different dishes. All excellent. The restarant is small, intimate, and, cozy. Service is outstanding. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The art on the walls is beautiful and much of it is available for purchase. Will be back again and again!
So happy to have Mediterranean cuisine in Saratoga! Not only is it here, it's actually delicious. My friend and I sampled many of the tapas and loved them all. There is a small but nice wine list and the owner recommended a nice Pinot Noir. He was also incredibly attentive and informative during our meal. We sat at the bar which made the meal feel interactive. I have traveled to many of the places where many of the menu items originated and Amuse holds up. Ignore the fact that it's a deli by day, and enjoy some great Med eats!
