I’d say, stick to the hot and cold appetizers and the pides. They make the best babaganoush I’ve ever had and their eggplant appetizer is also wonderful. Any of their pides are tasty and delicious.
Great food and great service!
Wonderful dining and culinary experience. Highly recommend.
The service was mediocre, beginning with my being ignored twice by the same person when I checked in with my reservation. It took my party 15 minutes to get seated even though there were many tables free in the section where I wanted to sit. The waiter was just OK, and his colleagues who brought the food were alright. It's unfortunate that the overzealous water server somehow managed to drop a knife into one of my friend's glass. Very strange. The food was standard Turkish and Mediterranean fare, but was not particularly good. We only finished one of the five dishes we ordered, mostly because there was no compelling reason to eat more. I definitely won't return, nor will I recommend it to others.
Great interaction with owner/manager about food philosophy. The food is fresh and well prepared. Reasonably priced.
Ankara is a great spot and their happy hour is definitely worth it. The hummus was a tad dry (very minor) but all other vegetarian apps were delicious! The service was friendly, informative, and overall wonderful. Great recommendations on wines, as well.
Great service, great food, and great value for their bottomless brunch. I'll be coming back
Hostess, waitress and entire staff provided outstanding service with friendly demeanor. Food was timely and tasted fresh. Will be returning!
The staff were extraordinary; even the managers were attentive and very friendly. The food was amazing and the ambiance was relaxed, luxurious, and so clean. Ankara is great for a date, girls night out, or just to treat yourself!!
Great first experience - the food, service and ambiance were all wonderful. Our server, Bora, was so attentive and really helped us with recommendations for our first time visit.
The food and atmosphere is excellent. The price is a bit high, but it does make sense for the quality of the food (which is very high quality). The food portions are slightly small, however, but again delicious. There is a lot of flavor in the food that makes it worthwhile. I would definitely come back again.
Great place! Food was really good and reasonably priced. Service was excellent, wines matched really well with the menu and the old fashioned cocktail was fantastic. Great place for a group.
Day was great, sat outside and enjoyed brunch with friends. Our waiter, Hamoon, was amazing he made sure our orders came out on time and always made sure are flutes weren’t empty. Will definitely come again!
Service was excellent, food was well-prepared and timely. We love this restaurant.
Excellent service and delicious food. Not one dish was disappointing.
Wonderful Turkish food and great service! We'll be back!
First time at Ankara for a birthday occasion, and we had a wonderful time. The menu offered enough gluten-free options for one member of our party, and the food was delicious overall. They also gifted us a birthday dessert, beautifully presented.
The bottomless brunch menu is a treat and a steal! The service was impeccable and personable. Great place to celebrate or catch up with friends!
The food was delicious. We were ready for the check and the waiter said “oh you’re not done” and brought us out something delicious. Totally worth the food coma.
We went for the bottomless brunch during restaurant week and really enjoyed the food and the great service. Outside of what we ordered, the servers also brought around fresh baked cookies, muffins and sausage (it was brunch!) this was in addition to receiving a selection of dips (hummus, eggplant, red pepper, etc....) as the intro to the meal. The only downside was the noise, which increased in such volume halfway through our meal that we had to lean across our 4 person table and almost yell to be heard.
Such an amazing time! Will certainly be going back!
Ankara provides a casual any day experience for diners. You don’t need to dress up, just come as your are for good-sized portions of their small plates.
We were seated about 20 minutes earlier than our reservation, and it was restaurant week in DC, so we thought this was a good thing. The staff was kind and courteous. But the tables around us had people sat at them, fed, cleared and new people sat literally up to four times while we were there. It took a really long time for us to get our food, literally an hour and a half from when we sat to getting our entree.
Not sure why our table took so long to be taken care of, and the food was absolutely delicious, but it just took a super long time. We literally caught the second to last train back to Reston and that made for a very long night.
I would recommend to someone if you have time to wait for the food.
It was the absolute best dining experience
Slow service during lunch.
I decided to book a reservation at ANKARA based on nothing other than I like Mediterranean food and the restaurant week deal. While being new to DC, I had also never heard of ANKARA, but could see why t would garner excellent reviews. It did start to rain, so thankfully they pulled the awning over my guest and I. It was a LOT of food, so come hungry or bring friends. The wine pairing for each course were great. I took my dessert home because I was stuffed. Worth it!!
Food was excellent. Great place for causal dining.
Authentic Turkish cuisine and quality service in a great atmosphere! We will definitely return.
We greatly enjoyed our lunch at Ankara and will definitely be back for more.
Everything was great-- the food was delicious, the portions were generous and the ambiance was fantastic. The only thing that really brought down the experience for me was getting eaten alive by mosquitos despite sitting indoors-- 13 mosquito bites in less than one hour kind of overshadowed any other impression I had, and it wasn't great having them hovering around during the meal. I liked ANKARA enough that I fully intend to go back regardless, but maybe in winter months or armed with repellent.
Mousaka was amazing, keftes amazing, bread was OK, service was very good-very friendly and efficient, ambiance was very nice, borek was rich, but it's freshness was OK.
Excelent service, great food, mimosas were legitimately some of the best in dc.
Order the pide and humus. Cannot recommend Ankara more
Food was delicious! Had a great dinner catching up with old friends. We were able to sit back, relax, have a delicious meal without feeling rushed. Service was friendly and efficient! Will come back :)
Fantastic service and amazing food prepared with love and presented with attention to detail. An amazing meal.
Superb service - friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. We never wanted for anything and it was a very relaxed and enjoyable meal. Chicken skewers were moist and delicious. Baba ganus had a nice smoky taste. Grape leaf tart was a standout - beef, rice and walnuts with a yoghurt topping. Nice and spicy and delicious. Pistachio cake was excellent and different than the usual dessert choices. First time here but we will be back.
The seafood was bad. Both the Seafood Orzo and Shrimp were un-edible.
The staff was very pleasant, I was the first to arrive from my group for brunch but they did not hesitate to seat me; which I appreciated. They were also very accommodating when a member of our party chose not to indulge in brunch and allowed the remaining parties to partake in the full bottomless brunch. The bottomless drinks were great, loved the pomegranate mimosa and the grapefruit mimosa, they were the best part of the brunch though the bloody mary was too spicy for my taste. Surprisingly, I did not fancy their hummus nor falafel (they were overfried and bit harder on the outside than it was supposed to be) and the hummus was bland, and granted that this is a Mediterranean restaurant it was slightly disappointing because I love both hummus and falafel very much. I also tried the calamari which needed a lot of salt, pepper and spices as they were extremely bland. Their suckulu pide - flatbread dish with the turkish sausage and mozzarella was nice as well as the grilled sucuk - turkish sausage starter. I tasted the beef bacon omelettes from my friend and it was falvourful. The meatballs in the creamy mushroom sauce was the best dish I had at Ankara. Finished off my meal with the baklava which was not as crisp as I anticipated ( a bit too much honey maybe which made it a bit soggy) and a latte. Overall great value for money, and wonderful customer service.
I had a great time with my girls. The staff is always friendly and the food was great!
