Easily can say one of the best dining experiences of my life.
Recommended by a friend. The first three courses were excellent then it all started to feel a bit lazy, which was a real shame. Quite pricey for the overall experience, and I’m sure it could be made better without much more effort from chef.
Dan made us feel that we where just in his kitchen having some dribks with him and his wife. Perfect experience!

Although the food was creative, innovative and delicious, it felt as if we were not expected and there was little attention given to us as customers.
It felt like we were eating in someone’s kitchen, not the intimate experience other reviews led us to believe we would be having.
It felt like we were intruding on Chef Dan’s time. We were greeted not by name or with a warm hello, rather we were told he was running late due to a party which had just finished. The other couple plus newborn were the only other customers. We were not given a choice of dinner or chef’s dinner, nor were our questions about the food and preparation warmly received. Over the course of two plus hours, we tried to engage in conversation, with little success.
This was the most expensive dinner we had in our two weeks in Japan, and not the highlight we had hoped.

Visited this restaurant during a vacation from the US with my wife. It’s a very intimate dining experience as you engage with the chef as he prepares each of your courses.
It was a very memorable and positive experience; I’d recommend this place to any visitor looking for a nice and approachable dinner out. Costs about $250 USD total for 2 (including drinks). Thanks Chef Dan!
One of the best meals I have ever experienced. We treated ourselves to this special meal on our last day of travel in Japan. We were served course after course of melt in your mouth fish and meat, carefully prepared with amazing flavors and sauces. The chef was engaging and fun. Overall, a must do experience!
The food was amazing, cooked to perfection and very tasty. The wild unagi was exceptional. Another must have is the red snapper risotto. We loved the sauces too - reduction of red wine and seaweed or reduction of red wine and ponzu. very elegant strawberries cooked in champagne with delicious cheesecake.
We highly recommend the place for a delicious kaiseki fusion meal. Perfect English is spoken.
Truly an incredible experience and fairly priced. The Chef is amazing. Cooks great food and is very fun. Only 8 seats which is great as it makes it intimate and everyone gets talking. My favourite meal in Japan. Amazing!

Our dinner in Another C was delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. The restaurant is small as is typical in Kyoto. It has contemporary design and very pleaset and quite atmosphere. The dinner had many small courses (eight?) that were selected and prepared by the chef in front of us. By the time I'm writing this review it's been a few days since we dined there but I can still feel the taste of the grilled Kobe beef melting in my mouth and other dishes as well. My wife and I both thorpughly enjoyed our evening.
It was our last night in Kyoto - and what a memorable goodbye was it!
Chef Dan brings a touch of NYC to Kyoto with his superb and innovative Kaiseki. He was happy to choose a wine pairing for us. The dishes were uniformly excellent. Since he is perfectly bilingual, he was happy to explain everything in detail in English, while his helper was kind and charming enough to speak simple Japanese and to chat and practice with me. Only ten seats in the restaurant, so it’s a personal, intimate experience. Top quality food, flawless service. A real highlight for our last night in Kyoto!
It was really a nice and special moment to be here. The food is great the atmosphere unique and the Chef makes it special. I was here the third time in two years and for sure next time I’ll be in Kyoto I would like to eat here again.

Starting with the beef was genius...and each course surpassed the previous! The quality of the product was fantastic...and we loved the more relaxed atmosphere! Probably our favorite overall meal from the two weeks we spent in japan!

The food is absolutely fantastic. They were so fresh and good taste. The desert “New York cheese cake” is a must try!
I don’t know if there is a problem with the ventilator, the smoke was quite heavy and my wife almost cried when we were eating.
Service is ok, but next time please ask the allergy food of customers.

We had a wonderful experience at Another C. This has probably been our favorite dinner on our recent trip to Japan. The food was truly a reflection of modern Japanese food, with interesting combinations of textures and flavors. Dan is a great host and made us feel welcome and looked after as well.
One of the Best Dining Experiences I had. Absolutely to recommend if you visit Kyōto and want to have a great tasting flavor and in the same time getting in touch with the chef.
Another C was a highly enjoyable experience. In an intimate setting, you are most likely going to be sat the counter, and have an up close and personal experience with the Chef, Owner, and sole proprietor. Chef Dan literally does the whole operation himself. It was nice chatting with him, but he was careful not to intrude on date night at the same time. I am a pescatarian and don't eat meat, he easily accommodated my needs when we got there. The food is a combination of modern and traditional Japanese, the flavors were explosive and seasonal. I would highly recommend making a reservation for Another C if you are planning to be in Kyoto for a dinner.
We had read rave reviews about the food and ambiance at Another C and felt that it would be the perfect venue at which to celebrate our last evening in Japan. We are no strangers to fine dining having enjoyed meals at a number of Michelin-stared restaurants around the world.
The food at Another, while not spectacular, was very good as we expected it to be. However, we had booked the Chef's Special Dinner at 15,000 yen (+ tax) and our booking of this had been acknowledged in advance by e-mail from Another C. Our bill for the evening was for less than this amount. It appears that we were not served the menu we had desired and anticipated and that this was done without any explanation.
What really caused our evening to be less than the magical and memorable one that we anticipated was the inattentive service that we received. Our party of four was seated, not at the counter, but at a separate table. Thus, the hoped-for observation of and interaction about the food with the chef wasn't possible. It seemed to us that those seated at the counter were holding engaging conversations with the chef. On arrival we were not shown to our table but verbally directed there by the chef as he worked behind the counter. After about 10 minutes he presented to our table, not to welcome us or tell us about the evening and the food he would be preparing, but simply to ask what we wanted to drink without suggesting what the drink options might be. Our only other interaction with him was when he personally delivered one of our courses to the table and when we paid our bill at the end of the meal. Other service was provided by an assistant who was unable to answer many of our questions about the food and whom we had to flag down whenever we wished water and additional servings of wine.
We left saddened that our experience at Another C fell short of our expectations.

Ottimi spiedini di Kobe, zuppa di coda, e altre delizie preparate e servite di fronte ai vostri occhi. Selezione vini limitata ma di qualità, prezzi fissi molto ragionevoli per la qualità del cibo servito. Locale incantevole al quarto piano, arredato con gusto e discrezione.Questo giovane chef merita fama e fortuna per la passione con cui si dedica a regalarvi delizia e grazia.
Excellent experience. 6 seats at the counter and one chef. There is no fixed menu and Dan creates wonderful food in front of your eyes. The cuisine is a fusion of locally sourced food with the chef’s experience in NYC.
