Appalachian Brewing Company - Harrisburg
Nice place. The food was very good, and the service was great.
Nice dinner! Service excellent.
Food good, beer good, service was slow and it took half an hour to get my bill. That said, it was a Monday evening and the place was pretty packed so me sitting alone at a table in the corner was probably not their top priority. I’d give it another shot if I’m in town again maybe.
We eat at ABC periodically - we visit the Harrisburg location most often, but have also been to the one on the west shore, near Mechanicsburg, and the one in West Chester. We always get a good meal, good service and there is a nice selection of beers to choose from that never disappoint. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is family friendly, too, with lots of different options - appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, etc.
Fantastic food. Service was just slightly slow however this was a Friday night and right before a concert at the venue.
Friendly staff, great menu food and drinks. Nice atmosphere.
Both beer and food was underwhelming. We ordered the bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers, they were just, okay. The bacon was rather chewy, and as a whole, the poppers lacked flavor. Also ordered the brussel sprouts, which needed to be slightly more crispy. They were soft, which isn't bad if that's how you like them, but they also had way too much sauce, overly salty. I did however enjoy the chicken curry. It could have used a little more heat, however. The beer was disappointing, too. The broad street barleywine was by far the best beer that we sampled. Most of the beers were almost amazing, could have had so much potential, but they all rather flopped. The first sip, they'd take off like they were going to be awesome, then they just fizzled into flavorless nothing. I'm glad I went, but definitely left feeling rather disappointed.
My husband ordered gumbo. I thought the portion size looked rather small. He said it was ok. I ordered bourbon trail tips. These were beef tips marinated in ABC bourbon. My plate was lukewarm when served to me. I really hate being served cold food. I felt the beef had this taste to it, other than the bourbon marinade. I couldn't finish the meat. My mashed potatoes was a small pile, as if an ice cream scoop was used to plate them. No gravy. I somehow thought the beef tips would have more gravy or sauce on them, too. But no. So I asked for a side of gravy, which was pretty tasty. The veggies on the plate were a mix of zucchini and baby peeled carrots. All the large carrots were barely cooked and the smaller ones were overcooked. All in all, it was a strange meal, but it was a busy Friday night and we were hungry. No time to send food back. Thank God for their wonderful Jolly Scot beer. We love that beer. So, yes, we'll be back. But I feel that we shouldn't have to justify a 'just ok' meal because the restaurant is busy. And it seems like the whole restaurant industry should address food temperatures.
A very nice place to enjoy food paired with a great local beer.
We always have a good experience at ABC. It's our birthday dinner destination for every family member.
The service was good from the minute we walked through the door until we left, and our server was wonderful! And the food was delicious!
Food is phenomenal with something on the menu for everyone. Their handcrafted beer and soda is second to none. Don’t even step foot in the door if you don’t want to be hooked on a single restaurant because this place blows all other local restaurants out of the water. You have been warned
Sadly, I can't recommend ABC. My party of two sat with menus for 15 minutes before someone came to see us. And the manager and hostesses passed by our table countless times. No drink or food specials were offered. The food did arrive quickly though, and it was delicious! We probably will not be returning.
Awesome waiter. Great food. Chicken Caesar salad was delicious! Tater tot appetizer very yummy!
Restaurant was not busy, yet seated next to bathrooms and the staff table where they fold napkins and sort silverware. Service was extremely poor, could only obtain 1 beverage in a one hour meal at a brewery?!
Food and drink were delicious! Our server was very knowledgeable on the beers and gave us a lot of good tips and suggestions.
Issue with menu item being misrepresented. Waitress was knowledgeable and thorough with the beer selection.
Still dreaming about those housemade tater tots! Great menu with lots of variety make this place an easy choice for dinner out with a group. Jenna was a super server and Patrick made sure everyone enjoyed their experience. The only thing I didn’t give a perfect score was ambiance. That cinderblock wall needs some design help. I can certainly deal with it for creative comfort food, attentive service and a delicious cider ale!
We visited for dinner before a concert in the upstairs bar. Good food, attentive staff, and not expensive. I'd go there again if we're passing.
Always a fine time. Love the adaptive reuse of an abandoned factory into a cool place. Been there many times, and there are many more to come! Highly recommended!
Good food and beer. It was a little cold inside, so I had to buy the only small jacket they had left!
Great food and craft beer. Definitely something for everyone.
ABC is a little treasure hidden away in this up and coming area. I was pleasantly surprised by the fun deco and electric environment. The food was good, portion huge, and the craft drink... they just rocked. If your looking fir a fun spot with good food this is the place. Also, great for kids too.
This was our first time here. We were looking for a fun brewpub to try in Harrisburg and hit the jackpot! The food was wonderful and we loved the flight of beers. Also our server was prompt and friendly. We definitely will come back again!
We stopped here because we were visiting from out of town and wanted to try a new brewpub. Three of four of the party were vegetarians, and we liked the options we saw on the online menu. We were very pleased with the veggie burgers (great toppings) and fries. We also enjoyed the brussel sprouts (without bacon) and the non-vegetarian enjoyed the cheddar soup. Everything was great and our server, Ben, was very attentive. Oh, and the beer-lovers liked the beer. The prices were a little higher than Lancaster Brewing Company, but we felt the food we had was better than what we had at LBC. Plus, we could actually hold a conversation at ABC!
Great food & drink!
I do not think it was worth the hype. The special, a burger, cost more than the other sandwhiches and burgers on the menu which was dissapointing for a special. The beer was lack luster and not what I expected for a brewery. The burgers were not cooked as we had ordered and were dry, charred, and tasted like an old grill. Very dissapointed because of how much people talk about this place in our area.
Great experience- We were looking for a place to have dinner as friends and not be overwhelmed with noise. This place is worked very well.
We were in town for a weekend trip and ended up eating here twice because we enjoyed lunch so much the first time. All of the food was very good and my 12YO really enjoyed the root beer and birch beer that were made onsite. My only complaint is that the service was very slow both times., and they were not that busy either time.
Great craft beers and soda, good selection of bar/comfort foods. But for lunch very slow table service.
Fun place, was able to reconnect with friends I hadn’t seen for 37 years. Enjoyed the food.
We stumbled upon Appalacian while vacationing in Hershey. We went twice in 3 days! The food was really good (we got an appetizer, entree and dessert) and priced right. Our service was just right and the ambiance is nice too. I only tried one kind of beer but the waitress was knowledgeable about their varieties. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
