The panna cotta was so yummy! Would come back here for the pasta too. So good.
Amazing food and service!
This was our second visit to Ardo. The impressions from the first visit - of a simple but stylish decor, a 'buzz' from obviously contented diners, friendly and knowledgeable personnel and simple but well prepared predominently Italian food with top-flight ingredients - were reinforced on this second visit. This time we opted to eat at the bar where we were served and kept entertained by the deft and friendly bartender. For me, the outstanding dishes were the daily special 'crudo' featuring large, velvety scallops with wild fennel and the salsiccie of orrichietti (sp?). An added bonus: for central Toronto restaurant, Ardo's prices are quite reasonable.
The food was amazing. Pasta tasted like Italy.
Great vibe at chefs table, seeing first hand the magic come together. The sous chefs and master chef Roberto created a very engaging and accessible experience. Food as always was amazing. I’m so looking forward to our trip to Sicily.
Impeccable service, extensive wine selection, all appetizers and dinners for 6 people were excellent, unique and authentic Italian menu. It was lively and we had a great time on a Friday evening.
Food is authentic Italian. Servers are knowledgeable. Owner is ALWAYS there keeping an eye on things.
I took a leap and booked Ardo for my husband and me, to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. The food was delicious, the service friendly and attentive, and the bustling candlelit atmosphere perfect. The gnochi was exquisite.
Excellent Sicilian food. Pizze are excellent. Only minor complaint is they could have more gluten free options (one of our party was celiac).
The wait staff was slow in providing the check but all in all a great experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I am obsessed with the orrechiette and will come back just to have a bowl of it.
I love Ardo - it’s my favourite restaurant in Toronto.
Great food, Roberto did not disappoint. Gnocchi are so delicious.
Lovely meal, though ten days later I can't really remember what we ate, barring a lovely seafood couscous and perhaps the best Panna cotta I've ever tasted. The meal was marred however when we went to pay : I had two $50 gift cards which I had received a year earlier. No time limit was mentioned on the cards, but we were told the computer only holds onto a record of payment for one year, and the owner told us they were therefore valueless. I protested. He then offered to accept the cards at half value which again I refused. Why should a computer algorithm hold sway over the stated value of the gift cards? And why try to "shortchange" a client in a restaurant of that status? The owner finally accepted to honour the cards - undoubtedly fearing negative comments online - but most reluctantly and ungraciously. Sadly both my partner and I left with a sour taste in our mouths and shall not be returning.
We totally enjoyed Ardo, the food was excellent, staff friendly! We will be back
Amazing service and food.
Definitely a great and authentic italian place. Loved the pasta alla norma, amazing. Very good the appetizers: arancine and panelle were great, the burrata was good but not amazing. For dessert we took cassata and cannoli. We had great expectations for the cannoli but at the end the cassata was much better, it was a non conventional cassata compared to what you get in Italy but it was absolutely outstanding. Definitely recommend this place!
there are no better restaurants than those in which the owner is fully engaged and Roberto exemplifies that model perfectly
A dear friend was visiting from BC.
We wanted to take her to our favourite restaurant, Ardo.
As usual, it was a wonderful evening.
We are always well taken care of by Roberto and his team.
Thank you all.
Although most costumers where 50 and up, they put on the music so loud that we could not hear our selves talking . Our waiter was impatient and not very knowledgeable . We had to wait too long for the food. Cheese pizza was good, rest of our food was just ok- mediocre. Cod was over salted .The chocolate dessert was a joke, 11$ for 4 cubes that tasted like dust, accompanied by 4 "Sicilian" almonds (weird taste) and 4 small sour raspberries . The chef and his brother where busy waking around talking to gussets. I think they should have gone back in to the kitchen and make sure food is better and timely served.
All of it was great. We’ve been fans of Terroni, but this is now our new pasta place. Going back in 2 weeks.
This was my second visit to Ardo and it was outstanding once again. Taylor, our server, was terrific. We tried a new Sicilian white wine and it was wonderful and the food, well it's out of this world. One of our group of three was new the Ardo and he had pasta and said it was the best ever. And he eats out all the time and frequents a lot of high end establishments. He loved it.
I can't say enough about Ardo. I would recommend it to one and all.
Impeccable, authentic Sicilian dishes. The sophisticated execution on items like simple scallop crudo, grilled octopus and perfectly-seared 35oz ribeye were definitely memorable. Good wine pairings. Highly recommended Italian cuisine, and a true King East gem.
Amazing food and really nice staff. Too bad people and music were really loud.
Great food. Drinks a little pricey, but the wine was good.
As a curtesy I e-mailed the owner my feedback along with my real name, 4 days ago. With no response, I thought it best to post my 2nd review below.
Attention Roberto Marotta,
Our first visit for dinner was so wonderful that I wrote a review nothing short of superb.
Our second visit for lunch was also very good. It was then that I mentioned to the waitress that we were reserved for dinner July 15th because we were excited to try the suckling pig. I wanted to make sure that we could really order such a treat & she told us that it was always available.
When we arrived last night, instead of being seated, we were left standing without any explanation ( for what seemed like a long time )when finally another waiter came over to briskly bring us to a table.
We ordered suckling pig which, as you know, is listed as an offering inside your menu. A few minutes later we were told there was no more suckling pig.
We were not waiting around for strike 3, so we walked out & secured a taxi to Joso’s, which incidentally is the place that referred you to us.
For your information, my on-line review was under the name Bernie. My reservations were made on line under my name which is —————. We arrived on time, in fact about 6:50pm to be exact.
As an owner I thought you should know the facts. My husband & I eat out almost every day & were hoping to add you to one of our favourite dozen places to enjoy.
From where we live to Ardo is a $15 taxi fare each way.
The food was excellent, and so was the service. Prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of food you get.
Ardo showcases an intimate feel with attentive dining service. With an expansive dinner menu, Ardo caters to a variety of traditional and nontraditional palates. Notwithstanding Ardo's many strengths, our dinner reservation was abruptly cut short to accommodate a larger incoming party. One strategy to avoid this type of disruption would be to institute bounded reservation bookings (e.g., 6:00pm-8:00pm). Alternatively, and perhaps of greater interest to Ardo's clientele, the dining time could be determined by the diners themselves...
Amazing food. Great service. A place we keep coming back to.
Great experience but oddly there were a lot of fruit flies on the wall adjacent to the bar (where wine glasses are on display)
I have been to Ardo several times, and it never disappoints. The food is slightly different from standard Italian, in a good way. Our server was fabulous.
Amazing food, impeccable cocktail selection, and my new favourite Italian restaurant in the city. I tried the carpaccio, fresh raw scallops(daily special), the panelle, the ragu pasta, and the ARDO salsiccia pasta. All of which were outstanding, but the carpaccio and both pastas stood out the most. If you’re looking for the best Italian food in Toronto, look no further.
It was so good we immediately made 2 more reservations within that same week. So glad someone referred us because we would not have found you on our own. You are a rare gem amongst so many restaurants serving factory food these days.
Delicious food and great service. This was our second time and really enjoyed it.
Not willing to adapt menu to those with food allergies.
I don't know whyyyy I only go here once a year. I haven't had something I didn't love!
Food was excellent. Friendly greeting at door. Efficient and friendly service. A little expensive for lunch but worth it.
Ardo never disappoints. The food, the service, the ambience, just the best! Thanks again for a great experience!
Delicious authentic Italian food and very attentive service. I have been here many times and it is consistently excellent. This time had a group of 7 so had two white snappers and the suckling pig special with a variety of pasta dishes. Fish cooked to perfection and I highly recommend the pig if your group is hungry. Will be back soon.
