Asheville Proper

First dinner date with my wife. We chose Asheville Proper and we were certainly not disappointed. We received exceptional service from the moment we walked in the door. From drinks, to our meal, and even dessert everything was outstanding. A+ and 100% recommend!

Everyone from hostess to wait staff very friendly and accommodating. As it was our first time there, our waiter went over recommendations. Will definitely return in the future.

We went for our anniversary and everything was perfect. Expect to spend some money here. All the food and drinks were great and the service was outstanding. Beautiful place.

AP is amazing!! Due to COVID, we don’t get out very much but decided to treat ourselves and this place did NOT disappoint!! Great food, great service-everything was on point. Will definitely be back!

Love the wood fired smell and taste on all the food, and the Ocotpus and oysters were very good on the Appetizers. Steaks are also very good with delicious sauce options. Sides were good, but a bit pricey for what you get, and mushrooms seemed under cooked. They have some delicicous cocktails as well and we had a great waiter that night who provided wonderful service. Overall great place to eat.... may be a bit pricey for some.

It was very cold outside that night so all seating was inside . All staff had masks on and seating was spaced out excellent. Service was excellent as was the food. Steaks were great Appetizers excellent. We had the meatballs and Brussel sprouts both were seasoned and prepared excellent.

I was tasked with finding a restaurant for myself and four work colleagues to have a working dinner. Of course I wanted it to be COVID safe and I always try to give out of town guests a true “Asheville” dining experience.

My team was so happy with this choice! Charcuterie, tartare, and octopus were outstanding starters. I enjoyed the tuna crudo and sweet potato side as my main. Both were excellent. My colleagues all had steak - strip I believe, and raved.

Served was wonderful and our server was knowledgeable and steered us to the perfect choices. This was my first visit and I look forward to returning with more friends!

Attention to guest by the staff was amazing. We dined with two younger children (not always easy if ever). The staff went above and beyond in accommodating them. Charcuterie pate and wreckfish salad were highlights on the board. Wife had skirt steak, and I had the ribeye. Mushrooms, beets, and brussel sprouts for sides. Skirt steak was tender and well prepared. Ribeye with horseradish sauce was excellent. All sides were delicious. It appears as though almost everything is cooked on an open wood grill/fire (can be seen in the kitchen). Almost everything had a medium to heavy char. Think Francis Mallmann. If you don’t like Smokey flavor, it could be a bit much. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service. Highly recommend.

Food and drinks were amazing! While waiting for our table reservation we got drinks at the bar. Once at our table our server saw our drinks and then did no formal greeting or explanation of menu or anything. As first time guests, that would have been nice. But overall, great time.

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. From dining at high end restaurants in and out of the country I can easily say this was in my top three. The food was impeccable. Will be coming back.

Best meal we have had in a LONG time. Would go back in a heartbeat. Tuna was amazing, octopus was outstanding and our steaks were cooked brilliantly. Would def recommend.

It was absolutely wonderful. Everything was great. I do not mean to sound harsh, but prices were too high for the food. Won’t be revisiting for that reason only. The food was fantastic, just not worth the price. Happy New Years!

Variety of cuts of meat were superb; variety not usually found in other steak houses. Service and ambiance was exceptional. Now the desserts —- not so good or tasty. Coming from an international city (Miami), for the price paid, the desserts were way too expensive for the size. Back home at all fine dining (Morton’s) the dessert size and the taste complements what you pay for. If I’m paying $12 for something sweet, give me a dessert list can share not three tiny squares of a tasteless morsel of cake.

On a Saturday night, the food here was fantastic. The server was very attentive also. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Asheville Proper may be pricey for the Asheville market, but it sure is worth every bite and sip. From amazing craft cocktails, to a warm modern environment with an open kitchen, everything is nearly perfect. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this experience. Reservations are a must.

My husband and I were so impressed with Asheville Proper, and would definitely go back if we come back in town again. The place is nice and cozy especially with the open wood fire grill aroma. Our server Nicholas was extremely helpful as well as knowledgeable. He walked our through the concept of the restaurant and the chefs vision with the menu layout. Wonderful spot in Asheville.
