August is a restaurant that sits in the old heritage church on Dornoch Terrace, West End. Our dining room is surrounded by objects, art, and the original pitched church ceiling and stained glass windows. Our menu is influenced by regional food from France, Italy and Spain.

August is open for dinner from 5pm on Thursday - Saturday, and from 11:30am for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. We also offer a range of private dining experiences, and can accommodate 60 seated guests, or up to 80 for reception-style events. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

    We are very excited to welcome Sian Redgrave into our kitchen in mid-November! On Sunday the 15th, join us for Sunday lunch, with a thoughtfully designed menu full of Sian’s beautiful seasonal cooking, rooted in Italian flavours. Expect fried zucchini flowers & Roman artichokes, stone fruit salads, handmade spaghetti & agnolotti & something sweet to finish. Bookings are now available from 11:30am - 2pm, and can be made via the link in our bio. Lunch is $130 per person. Unfortunately, dietary requirements cannot be accommodated for on this occasion. Please note, this Sunday will not be BYO. Our full wine list will be available.

    For Sunday lunch bookings, we offer an $90 set menu option only, which changes week to week and with the seasons. Please advise us the time of booking if there are any guests with dietary requirements. On Sundays only, we offer BYO wine, charged at $25 per bottle. A $35 kids' menu is available for 12 years and under. Please be aware that there is a 10% weekend surcharge on Sunday dining. A 12.5% service fee will apply to all groups of 9 or more guests.

    Superbly cooked and crafted French cuisine - just fine so well and presented nicely and not over fussy. The flavours were a new mix to my palette but went together incredibly well, popping in so many ways. Delicious

    Beautiful food with imaginative redefinition of classics. Loved the ambiance of the old church building. Excellent service. We enjoyed it very much.

    The stale baguette, obviously having been frozen, thawed and heated, was a poor start. The pickled fennel fritti was interesting, casarecce pasta with rabbit was overwhelmed by the spice (nutmeg?) in the sauce, and the stuffed duck was too complicated and the pommes anna was soggy. We had also ordered the fried brussels sprouts, but they failed to turn up. The sparkling burgundy chardonnay blanc de blanc was OK, but the pinot noir from Mornington Peninsula was low grade pinot. Altogether a disappointing dining experience.

    Reminded us of what dining used to be like in Brisbane when places like Pippin Took, Arts & Battledress, The Clansmen and Roseville were at their peak. Yes we’re that old! Must admit still getting used to what a good nights dining experience n Brisbane actually costs but once you get your head around that and start considering value for money and the quality of the food served August comes out on top. Servings were generous and the carefully curated wine list had an interesting mix of styles and locations from around the world. The fixed price menus looked like good value and we saw many tables sharing mains or having two smaller plates. Either would satisfy. No matter how you chose to dine August was a great experience and If the packed house on a Thursday was anything to go by plenty of people in Brisbane agreed!
