Axel's - Roseville
Nice lunch experience, pretty decor excellent lunch choices of soup and salad. Love the popovers. The burgundy spaghetti is weird though, stay away from that
Great food and service
Excellent food, location, and ambiance for lunch. Highly recommend.
The brunch was the only thing on the menu until 2:00 which I was not very happy about, but the brunch selections were fairly good, except that they could have had more egg selections. The service however, was minimal. The bottomless mimosas amounted to one glass and the waitress only asked if I wanted another glass when we were ready for the check. I have had good service in the past but it's been at a much earlier time. Plainly to get better service, one should probably go early or arrive for dinner if dining on a Sunday.
Horrible experience, staff was annoyed to serve never agajnn
Great Valentine's dinner with our favorite server Kathy! Some nice specials along with their standards which are great too.
The service was outstanding on Valentine's Day night! My ribs were good and more than I could eat.
Caesar salad was delicious. I will come back again.
As always, EXCELLENT!!!
We had a wonderful lunch. Waitress was very personable. Recommend for lunch date
They didn’t honor our reservations, super busy, slow service food was good.
The wait staff is fantastic. And the coconut shrimp divine! Impeccable food and service. I’ll be back soon. ❤️
Axel's is outstanding for a business lunch. It also is awesome for a date night, family event and just because you need one of their popovers!
There was no tap beer. Ran out of bottle beer after 1 round of drinks.
Had the shrimp it was cold & rubbery.
The baked potato was hard as a rock
Good food. Server was good, but then we sat for quite sometime before plates were cleared.
Tuesday night all you can eat crab legs, YUM!!!!
The food is good and attractively served, the waitperson was helpful and attentive. The matre de wasn't welcoming or confident on seating diners or making it an interesting interaction, needed a little flair. No one acknowledge our deaprture with appreciation.
It was good all around.
Axel’s is a great place to eat. The food was amazing and the bartender was so much fun. However, I don’t recommend trying to go on a busy night whether you have a reservation or not. We had to stand around and wait for a half hour past our reservation time trying to get a table. We finally gave up and snagged a couple of spots at the bar. Ordinarily, not a big deal, but for a nice date night, bellying up to the bar wasn’t our plan. I’ll definitely go back for the food and bartender, though!
We waited 40 minutes past our reservation because they took too many walk ins. I
Unfortunately I would not book another reservation at Axels again. The bartender and server were very good, which made up for some of our frustration. Several others at the bar waiting were just as upset as we were.
We were seated by the entry to restaurant. Every time the outside door was opened a cold blast of air came through.
Service was adequate. Our server was tending bar and waiting on tables. She did a good job considering, but you could tell they were understaffed. Steaks seemed to be completely void of any seasoning. Had to add salt for some flavor which I never do in a restaurant.
Was very surprised to be able to get a 7:15 reservation at 2:00 in the afternoon of New Years Eve.
I don't think I'll be back.
Food was good and table service was excellent however, had reservations at 7:00
Arrived at 6:50 and were seated at 8:05
First of all - do not seat people in the bar area without asking if they would like a bar table! The bar area is a total different atmosphere than the dining! We were seated in the bar area as that was "the only table available", even though we had a reservation. The night was busy due to it being New Year's Eve, especially the bar area. There were constantly people standing close to our table that were overflowing from the bar. Poor service. Waited over five minutes before someone finally came to our table. Took drink orders. Then waited to do our food order. As we were giving the food order, she never wrote anything down. Which created our order to be wrong. Write it down!! We received our salads before the appetizer! Received the appetizer as we were half way through the salads. Which was full of wilted lettuce! Food was awful. Steak was charred on the outside and raw on the inside. Lobster tasted like cold rubber. The steak also got cold as they did not bring a steak knife to the table. Trying to track down the waitress was impossible. The walleye was mushy as well as the wild rice served with it. No popovers were brought to our table. We had to ask for them. Received them cold and the butter frozen. Server did not come to see if our drinks wanted to be refilled until dinner was almost done. Bill was incorrect as well. Overall experience was awful, awful, awful.
Waitress was very very good. seating was a bit cramped, but not uncomfortable. Noise level was rather loud although tolerable it was not very comfortable. People were not real considerate as far as conversation was concerned, t hey tended to talk very loudly even though they were seated very close to each other. Manners were not something they were too concerned with. I overheard several people complaining about how they disliked their seating accomidations.
Disappointed there were no tap beers and poor selection of bottled beer. Waitress indicated they were having a beer crisis. Don't know how long this had been going on. Generally it was a good place to eat for a week night visit. Most special were the always wonderful popovers.
Ambiance great! Food excellent! Service outstanding
The food was delicious. Best salmon I have ever had. It was my first time. Kathy told us about happy hour. We will definitely be back
Been going here for many years, always good food. The service is always very good.
Great food and service
When the wait staff knows you are there for happy hour, you are forgotten. This is the second time within a month I have been for happy hour and ignored. It is too bad, the food is decent and good atmosphere.
We had their walleye for our Christmas lunch, and it was excellent as always. It was very busy and full the day we came, but our food came quickly.
Christmas dinner out with college friends of 40 years. Everything was wonderful and we had a great time.
Love the environment. The staff all there was really nice, sweet and helpful.
I’ve always had good experience with
Excellent service and food quality. Very nice environment. Wait staff remained attentive and accommodating. Axel's has become my go to chop house for special occasions.
Our table was ready as booked and I was greeted warmly. The food was good and we were pleased with our selections. Our waitress was attentive and brought our orders in good time. The room was quiet enough for us to converse and take care of our business meeting.
My father said it was the best prime rib he had in a long time. He is difficult to impress with food.
A bit more wait staff would have been good for the holiday. But, that is my only negative. I also understand that help is usually short on holidays.
We do the Thanksgiving buffet every year and always love it! The food is wonderful and there is a lot of variety. We have gone at many different times and the wIt is always short and the service friendly. Great job!
This review is for Axel's Thanksgiving Buffet...the variety of food was amazing (crepes, omeletes, Belgian waffles, desserts galore, and this is all in addition to regular Thanksgiving food), but a few dishes didn't deliver. Do NOT put cranberries in the stuffing! (In case you didn't notice, people rarely took it, and that is usually an extremely popular Thanksgiving dish.) Turkey legs were super dried out (don't bother with them...the carved turkey was fantastic), and my kids were hoping for Chocolate Chips for the crepes. Otherwise, the food was really, really great.
The biggest issue is that this buffet is WAY OVERCROWDED! I'm guessing in order to make money on this gig ($38/head!), you HAVE to serve lots of people, but I wasn't expecting a 500+ guest wedding in a hotel ballroom! So-so-so many elderly people with walkers & wheelchairs, and it was just a NIGHTMARE for them to get around! Tables are set up like a wedding (sharing tables with multiple groups), very little room to walk in between tables, and WAY OVERWORKED wait staff! All they had to do was bring you beverages - it's a buffet - and we had to find a way to get our beverages refilled twice because our waitress never checked back on us! She was nice, but just had way too many tables.
The demand vs. supply of restaurants serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal is just too high. I appreciate the attempt to meet this demand, but given it is a FAMILY Holiday, it just isn't set up well for elderly & handicapped folks. It was also SUPER loud, so my elderly Mom with her hearing aids couldn't hear any of us talking to her. Like I said, it was like having Thanksgiving meal at your cousin's HUGE wedding at a hotel ballroom.
Axel's made celebrating Thanksgiving easy and everyone got what they wanted!
We went for dinner for the Tuesday crab legs all you can eat and it was amazing, great crab legs and other items as well, our service was spectacular!! We will definitely be back. It did seem to be rather noisy in there though however it was very busy so that probably added to the extra noise.
