Axton's is always a great time. Service staff is friendly and the food is so delicious!
The prices are higher than other similar restaurants but in my opinion it was not worth it. Its not a bad place or experience but its also not an exceptional dining experience either.
Food was excellent everything from the appetizer to dinner to the desserts. We will definitely go back again.
The menu selection was a large array of many delicious choices in fish, chicken pasta etc!
This was our first visit but definitely won’t be our last!!!

Shrimp bisque is divine! As usual can depend on a meal that is delicious and satisfying.
Based on their website pictures, one would expect that you found a GEM in Pompton Lakes, featuring white table clothes and romantic setting, but as soon as you enter, you realize it’s nothing more than sit down pizzeria atmosphere. You are immediately greeted by the unfriendly /unprofessional hostess staff, who needs much training in restaurant services and personal attire. We arrived promptly on time for our reservation, only to realize that our table wasn’t ready and we had to wait awhile in the most awkward reception / kitchen area, where you virtually interfere with the serving of the food (very awkward and unsanitary). Finally, our table was ready, and we were led past many unoccupied tables, only to be seated at the worse table in the house, directly in front of the service area and bathrooms with a continuous cold draft from the service door. Despite the long wait, we realized our table was only half prepped, missing the same level of decor (red rose) that all other tables had and for unexplained reason we received odd size wine glasses, that nobody else had at the restaurant. Our meal was frequently interrupted by the harshly juggling of tables and chairs around us, making us feel that we were uncomfortably in their way.
Despite the lack of the romantic atmosphere, we were delighted with the menu choices. We selected several appetizers and entrees, and we were quite delighted and satisfied with the presentation and flavors of all our selections. Much credit to the Chef Anton for his culinary part in our dining experience.
In conclusion, Axton’s by Chef Anton Testino, isn’t the Gem yet..... much polishing still needs to be done before it can shine brightly in Pompton Lakes neighborhood.
There seemed to be too much pepper cooked into most of our dishes.
We had 7:00 reservations. They overbooked themselves so we did not get seated until 7:45. The service was so, so, so slow. She server and hostess miserable and had to be reminded twice to bring out the bread. I have been a server for 5+ years and I get things happen but this was the worst service we have had in years. Typically always tip 20%+ but we were generous enough to leave 10%. The food was not impressive. We also heard the chef yelling at his employees constantly. We would never go back.
We are return customers and have never been disappointed...The food was fabulous, dining room decorated for Valentines Day was lovely, music was very nice at a good level, our server Susan was on the ball! Very personable, attentive, no delays in service.

Service was very good and Francesca was very attentive. Four of us dined and every one enjoyed their dinner. Fried calamari special was excellent and portions were substantial. We knew Chef Anton from a prior restaurant and he has improved with age. We will definitely be returning.
Lobster bisque was excellent! Unusually busy, so noise level was much louder then usual. Service outstanding. My pork/ shrimp dish delicious. My husband was very happy with the cod/shrimp dish. Actin’s never disappoints
Service was a little discombobulated, but the food was DELICIOUS! We all enjoyed our meals and plan on returning soon.

Excellent meal!!! We are so glad we discovered this place. I am vegan and my friends are not and they were able to make ALL of us have a great meal experience. Absolutely delicious food!!
It was our first time but won’t be our last time! wait staff was excellent especially Francesca! We had an opportunity to meet the chef although he was busy he took the time to meet us!
Our waitress Francesca was exceptional and the food outstanding! Start to finish the experience as a whole was fabulous! Can’t wait to go back.
It was my second time there. Food was excellent and our waitress Fran and the other staff were wonderful.
The food was delicious and the server Susan was very nice. It was our first time eating at this restaurant. The reason I chose to dine there was due to the Vegan options. I was looking forward to trying the Vegan Ravioli but they were not available on this evening. Perhaps I'll have a chance to try them the next time.
The food is fantastic! We went on New Year's Eve and they had a regular menu which was surprising. Every thing that we ordered was delectable. Jekyll and Hyde Calamari is a must! Can't wait to return.

Our party of 4 was seated promptly upon arrival. The food is Amazing, albeit a slow process to order and be served, but well worth the wait.
For dinner we had a “ 7 fishes” hot appetizer and the roasted long hot peppers (seriously hot and seriously delicious) followed by a grouper and a beef filet special
and the Francesca’s Bronzino. Portions were generous and the food was delicious. Desserts were equally as tasty.
One of the best local restaurants for sure.
Third time dining. Have returned because the food is excellent, but will not return because the service has been terrible all 3 times! Very unfortunate.

Our Waitress was excellent and the service overall was great from all involved. Very attentive. The food was absolutely excellent, from the 7 fishes special appetizer, to the Pork Chop special, and the crepe filled cannoli.
I have been to Axton’s on numerous occasions and each time is better than the last! This restaurant is my absolute favorite.
The food and service was great. We had the calamari and soup of the day, and risotto for the main entree. All were tasty and portions were large. We actually ended up taking home most of the entrees as we were full from the previous courses.
The waitstaff made sure we were well taken care of throughout our dinner. There were friendly and courteous. The only thing as others have noted is the ceiling is tired and could use at least a coat of paint and the lighting is a little odd. We can overlook this given the rest of the experience.
Quality of food and service always high. The pork special was special!

Excellent meal. Shrimp bisque was outstanding. Mussels were prepared differently from other restaurants which was good. Sherry wine in a cream sauce. Wife had halibut with crab meat and I had the filet mignon with scallops. Excellent
This place is world class. The flavor balancing is complex and wonderfully thought out.
Second time there - same result. The chef tries to hard to to create with too much happening in the meal. A culinary cacophony. Flavors and mixes fight instead of complimenting each other.
Great food, great service, can’t beat it
Food was fabulous. Restaurant was filled to capacity. A bit noisier than I prefer but still ok. Service was good. A little pricy. Glad it is a BYOB.
Been there a few times and it is always excellent .
