Ballast Point Brewing Company
Our waiter was great but the food was lackluster. Our buffalo chicken sandwich was plain.
You don’t need to reserve a table at this place. It was useless
Our favorite place to go! Good food, plenty of beer choices and never had bad service. Perfect place to go out on a date or to just hang with friends at the bar.
My wife and I went last Friday night for the first time. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We sampled several beers that we hadn’t tried before and finished up with our favorite, Sculpin. While sampling, we had an order of the Corn and Poblano Pepper Hummus, which comes with tortilla chips and veggies... it was delicious, especially with the beer. Our server was very attentive and was very knowledgeable in the different brews! She was happy to make recommendations to us and seemed genuinely happy to be working at Ballast Point.
We have been here several times before. This time I made reservations and when we arrived, I asked for a booth since there were so many available. The hostess said that they were all reserved, so we took a table. When we left, only two booths were occupied. The waitress said that when a party reserves a booth, it is reserved for the whole evening. I didn't notice on OpenTable any place where one could reserve a booth. Maybe all these groups called the restaurant for reservations of a booth. Who knows. Wine was very expensive for what little we got in the glass, but it is a beer joint. Food was okay, I loved the steak burrito, but others in our group were not as happy with the short rib/potatoes and pretzel. The menu is different online, and I was hoping to try the peaches and cream dessert, only to hear it was no longer available. Last time, we were there, I wanted the berry tartlet, only to find that it was no longer available. Disappointed, again! Our waitress was very apologetic about the seating arrangements and she provided good service. I forgot her name, but she was a tall blond young lady. As we were leaving, my husband went to the bar to see if his Ballast Point card could be used since the one in Temecula closed. He had only one more hole punch to get a discount on a beer purchase. The bartender said no. We will not be back.
For what we needed, great venue, causal and a decent food menu for all
Great service and drinks!
The food and service was excellent.
open table was fast and easy, will definitely use it again for Ballast Point
Thank you for taking the time to write this review!
Love ballast point! The beer is always fantastic you need to try some of the R&D beers and exclusive brews. Great stuff you can’t find anywhere else.
A must visit for any local or tourist
Great food selection and everything was tasty from the pizza, impossible burger and shrimp tacos.
The beer was very good and the server was attentive and helpful.
Love this spot.... Great food and beer. Enjoy the vibe....
The front was not manned and we waited quite a while. It was not busy. The receptionist was not welcoming and needs some training. The servers were however very professional knowledgeable and friendly. Food is better than average and selection of beers quite good.
Reminds me of Stone Brewing in Escondido. Very nice outdoor seating!
Ballast Point has long been one of my go to places. Great beer (among my favorites), great service, great food and consistent!
You can’t beat Burger Monday! You get a excellent cheeseburger and fries, along with a pint of your choice of any of Ballast Point’s very find beers on tap!
We wanted a restaurant for a Surf Cup team dinner and Ballast Point Miramar was perfect for a Sunday night. Everyone was really accommodating with our large group. We all agreed that we should come back again next year!
We had to flag down our waitress everytime we needed something. We were there for 2 hours and 45 minutes of it was us waiting to get our bill and pay!
We had a wonderful time at Ballast Point. Out server Sho was knowledgeable and friendly, and he made some great suggestions. The food and beer were great!
This was our 3rd time to the restaurant. While we enjoy the beer, the food has been a let down all 3 times. It seems to take forever to get the food each time (no matter how busy the restaurant is) and it’s usually bland and flavorless. My kids got the pork pie and loved it, but my husband and I split the braised short ribs and seasonal veggies. The ribs and veggies were so bland (and carrots practically raw) that we had to ask for salt and pepper to douse them with. We’ve made amazing beer braised short ribs at home - these weren’t them, and for $24, we expected much more. The only food item we really loved at a different time was the duck nachos. The bar food seems pretty safe, but even the burgers and salads are just bland. We would love to see some rotation in the menu - salads without grains/carbs would be good (potatoes and granola on salad are strange and defeat the purpose of a healthy salad). A few options that are keto and paleo would be nice - your menu has next to nothing like this. And it was frustrating to have to park in the valet for $5 (plus tip) because there wasn’t a spot to be had at 5:45 p.m. We wouldn’t have minded so much except the valet guy couldn’t remember which car was ours (after we handed him the ticket) and fumbled around for a while before asking us what type of vehicle we had. The servers were good and the beer was tasty - but after a 3rd unsatisfying food experience, we won’t be back. Which is a shame because we live around the corner. We have to drive to liberty station for Stone when we want craft beer with flavorful food. We hope this review helps improve Ballast Point in the future as we’d like to see them get back to more craft beer and food and less big business.
Good staff and foods
The burger bun was extremely crumbly and we had to finish 50% of the burger with a fork and knife. Other than the burger bun, it was perfect.
One of the best brewery experiences I’ve ever had! Highly recommend this pace.
Food was great! Not enough beer cheese dip with the pretzel. The duck nachos are phenomenal! House made pretzel was spot on. Bacon jam Mac n cheese completely on point. Make a reservation and come pretty much as you are!
Our waiter was awesome! We enjoyed wonderful service and great burgers, and of course you can't say enough about that Grapefruit Sculpin. However, .... we got an order of Mac and Cheese to go since it is sooo good and wanted to enjoy it later. It was missing the "jam" that really makes this dish. :( It wasn't busy on this Sunday early evening so the kitchen really was at a loss for quality control.
When my truffle mushroom pizza came out very soggy, our waitress immediately rectified the issue by offering a different entree, that is great service!
Been here many times, and the service this time was excellent (better than previous trips). But the food quality seems to hav fallen off (while prices have gone up). The now $9 pretzel is at most unremarkable and no where near the quality for half the price. Kids meals have gone up and options down, especially for vegetarian kids. The beer remains good, but not as remarkable as before. Likely will not return, at least not as often as I have in the past.
Our anniversary. Only thing is that nobody mentioned our anniversary or had anything for us since we were celebrating there. I indicated it on open table but it was not acknowledged at the restaurant.
A fun time for a birthday brunch. Food was good, portions good. Nice large facility.
Holiday weekend in San Diego. The lighting was s but too bright inside, but otherwise a fabulous night of tasty brews and food.
Big, open, industrial space. Happy, energized, fun vibe. Good bar area playing sport games. Great beer and food. Will be back!
Had made reservations to sit outside. When we arrived we were told that they had no servers for outside so we would have to sit inside. As the dinner went on we kept seeing people outside and not just having beer, but receiving dinner, just like us - so that did not make me happy. When we went to leave I wanted to comment to the front but no one was there for several minutes, so we left. The waiter was good, but not too attentive. My husband asked for a beer second beer and it never came, so we saved money there! Had to ask for another ice tea, but he never came back. Too many good places to go in San Diego to be lacking the "details".
I am grateful to Ballast Point! From the very beginning,of our visit, we were met by friendly staff, they kindly helped us in any questions! Thank you very much! Food and beer were on top, original and tasty!
Put vegan options back on the menu.
Best costumer service and the food was great. Our server was really nice checking with us to make sure everything was good.
Once again a great experience. Food is great. Beer is excellent.
Great food! Great beer!
Great server - Sho
Truly enjoyable!! Always a great meal
Love their beers
Made reservations during our stay in San Diego, amazing food and drinks. If you love Ballast Point and great food definitely recommend giving it a try
Usually a favorite place but the appetizers chip and guac (chips too salty) and mac and cheese (too spicy). What happened to the calamari??? no longer on the menu (too bad that was really good). No after dinner coffee??? What restaurant doesn't have coffee??? My out of town guests were not impressed sadly. I have previously rated Ballast Point 5 stars, this time just 3 and probably could have been a 2.
