Young Bonnie Prince Charlie's Beef Wellington
You know Charlie, the rightful King of Scotland. When there was an allegiance with France and Scotland against the English, this was another of his favourite meals while in France. Tender Ream's filet steak cooked medium rare, with seasoned, sherry-soaked mushrooms encased with puff pastry. After baking, it is finished with a surrounding rich red wine sauce. Our Bonnie Prince loved this. Dine like our Scottish King. Served with our Chef's choice of two vegetables and two potatoes.
Gleneagles' Rack of Venison
Agghhh. Best of the best venison. You will not be disappointed. Tender, sweet and moist. Little hint of herbs in the roasting, with a light reduction sauce. Maybe the best you will ever taste. Tell me if it's not, honest truth. Just a fantastic dish. Served with our Chef's choice of two vegetables and two potatoes.
Musselburgh's Fish and Chips
Boneless filet of haddock. If you went to a 'Scottish chippy', this is what you would get: real chips and real fish, as it's cooked in Scotland. Succulent fish in our beer batter with mushy peas and our house-made tartar sauce. I eat this weekly, reminds me of home.
Excellent food st and ambiance
Great. So upscale, China, crystal, food, everything. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend it.
The elegant cut crystal glassware, the fine Royal Albert china and linen tablecloth and napkins all made for a most elegant dining experience. On to of that, the food was excellent! We spent the evening savoring sips of craft cocktails and fine wine, along with tasting food cooked to our specific order. It was definitely a lovely slow food experience! And it was wonderful.
Excellent food, terrific service! I love Balmoral!
Another awesome dinner at the bar with Earl! Great to see Colin too!!
This was our first trip to Balmoral and the first time I have ever eaten at a Scottish restaurant. The rooms, furnishings and dinnerware presented a very British Isles atmosphere and made us feel special. The service was outstanding and the food was awesome. I am 79% Scottish, so I couldn't help but order the Haggis appetizer. It was really good. The duck and braised leg of lamb entrees were scrumptious. The desserts were beautiful and more than enough. We will plan to return for another special occasion.
We like this nice and unique Scottish place. Food was very good, served on beautiful china, drinks delicious. It was little things that made this experience not quite perfect. They forgot to bring salad before dinner which one of our guests ordered. Then they asked us what occasion we're celebrating, it was double birthday- nobody said anything afterwards- no special little piece of cake (which usually restaurants serve for birthday person). So, to summarize we liked the place and we had a good time, but it wasn’t perfect.
We finally returned to Balmoral to celebrate a birthday!
We had drinks to start, followed by an assortment of delicious homemade bread and a mixed salad to start with their lovely Stilton dressing! For our main course we had the Beef Wellington, cooked perfectly, lovely pastry, and so hard to find at restaurants. We ended the meal with the sticky toffee pudding, so yummy! It’s a treat to eat here and we look forward to returning. Service was great as well. Looking forward to returning soon!
Very nice restaurant. Authentic and has a home-ish feel. This is a wonderful Scottish dining experience
Beef Wellington and fish and chips were very good.
Caesar salad was poor and leek soup was not hot.
Service was too slow was and it was very loud.
Still we love the place!
Great food and great service with an outstanding décor. My wife and been there multiple times and always enjoy going back!
It was wonderful. From the bag pipe player at the door and a very good staff. The food was excellent and the service was just as good. I will and have already recommended this restaurant to many of our friends.
The bagpipes were a treat to hear at the entrance
Food was unique and excellent
This place is a gem and one of the best restaurants I've ever been too. The decor, creative menu and extensive cocktail lists makes going there seem like the first time every time. And if you want to be attended to by the best bartender bar none, Earl is the man!
another great dinner! Our new favorite restaurant. Earl (working the bar) is the best!
First time here. Wait staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was excellent, as were the drinks from the bar. We even had a nice conversation with the owner, he made the rounds and had an earnest desire to make the conversation personal.
Awesome place, great food, highly recommend
Afternoon tea was fab -
My daughter and I were there for their Tea….an exceptional experience. I have been to many teas over the years and this was, by far, my favorite. We had a splendid time. Service and ambiance were great. I love this place and will return.
The best restaurant in the Tri-cities. This is the 2nd time going and everything is incredible. Will be back for sure to try more Scottish classics.
The four of us ladies had a wonderful time and Chauncey took great care of us. The food was beautifully presented and delicious! We really appreciate the fine attention to detail and the very elegant table and atmosphere.
We here very happy to learn that the afternoon teas will resume in the fall and look forward to visiting again.
Great effort has been put into the ambiance and you do feel like you are being transported. We went for the High Tea which was excellent . We look forward to trying the main menu on our next visit.
Wonderful meal on a quiet restaurant with great service and lovely ambiance!! It was such a fantastic evening, that I will be going back to the place often!!!
We can’t remember the last time we left a restaurant so completely thrilled over our “find!” Food was delicious. Loved the entire dining experience. We’ll definitely go back soon!
Food was wonderful with the exception of the venison, which was a bit dry and overcooked. Drinks were amazing. Service was very poor. Our server hardly paid attention to us and was very lackadaisical with our table. But we absolutely base our opinion of the restaurant off our first experience which was outstanding.
Truly remarkable. Excellent ambiance and a Scottish experience. Amazing food - I felt like I was being hosted by a Royal Scottish family for dinner.
Always consistently excellent. Service - food - drinks wine! Have been coming here since opening. So glad they survived 2020. Colin is an amazing owner who we supported with carry out. Can’t wait to go back.
Great food, wonderful service, super mixed drinks!
Everything was great the only thing that I thought was out of line was the cost of the liquor I don't believe I've ever seen a chocolate martini that cost $20 or the 1 or 2 oz pours that were very expensive otherwise I really liked it
Great restaurant, wonderful food, and attentive wait staff.
Food, service and ambiance were all great. Nice to be greeted with a bagpipe welcome too.
Great food and service as always.
My daughter, my mom and I went for high tea and there was so much food! The tea was delicious and served in beautiful patterned china. The food was exquisite and there were so many creative and original options. Our server was kind and accommodating. I can't wait to return!
Food is good but they do use a lot of salt in everything. We had a group and all agreed. The service was great and the bagpipe player was a nice touch.
The menu was vast with something for everyone in our group. Sarah was an excellent server. She was fun, helpful and cheery. Very good eating experience. Happy will definitely eat here again.
The crown jewel of the Western Suburbs. Just outstanding!
This was our first time eating at Balmoral and it was wonderful! My husband and I arrived just as a bagpiper was finishing a song. The ambiance and decor made us feel like we were in Scotland. The friendly and knowledgeable bartender spoke to us while we waited to be seated. The chairs are cushioned and extremely comfortable. The drinks menu is extensive with some interesting and tasty cocktails. And the food!!! Wow! We decided to be brave and try haggis...and we can now say we have tried it. We did not care for it and sent most of it back! But, the rest of the food was outstanding. I had the lamb shank which was very tender and had a delicious gravy while my husband had the Chili Honey Grilled Salmon which was also delicious. Don't leave without getting the Cranachan, a raspberry/whipped cream/toasted oats dessert!
We are food connoisseurs. The food prep was outstanding. It exceeded our expectations. The service was also excellent. We will definitely return— and don’t forget to pick up a loaf of the Irish soda bread on your way home.
I went there with a group of 7. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the chili salmon which was spectacular. A nice twist on typical salmon --very tasty. I also had the strawberry merange dessert which was flavorful and light. Even the coffee was exceptional! We will come back.
