Good bar food and very noise
My husband and I had dinner there on a Friday night. It was a little loud, but not too bad. My husband had the Rockfish and I had the Braised Short Ribs, both were fantastic. They only had cheesecake for their dessert selections so we did not partake in dessert. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. We will definitely return the next time we are in Easton.
We ate at Bannings Tavern while in town for the annual Waterfowl Festival. The chowder was, as the menu says, 'world famous' and the crabcake was one of the best I've had - which is saying a lot on the Eastern Shore. The crab cake was lumps of backfin with what seemed like shredded crabmeat 'filler' - cooked perfectly (soft on inside with slight crust on outside). The sound level was moderate since we were seated near the bar - and folks were celebrating the Waterfowl Festival - but all were cordial. The staff was very efficient and pleasant. All in all - a very nice experience that I'd recommend to anyone.
A fun corner tavern with above average food.
This was a quaint tavern. I had the prime rib and it was cooked perfect. The staff was very friendly
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent dinner in a very relaxed and cozy environment. Bannings is one of our favorite restaurants in town. Great food at a reasonable price
The beef short ribs had a marvelous sauce, but were very tough and dry. I ate only a couple of bites. I’m glad I had a large salad prior to the main course.
A terrific lunchtime treat
Had a birthday lunch with friends. The atmosphere is fun, the service friendly and the food is superb - especially the clam chowder and ribeye sandwich. The ribeye in baguette and au jus was one of the best ever. They also have a great Cobb Salad and lots of burgers available. This is the seond time we've been to Easton and this is our favorite pub.
We have dined here often and Saturday was the first time we had a poor meal and service. Not sure what happened but several of us had the Pork special and all of us thought the meat was tough and had hard spots that were not edible. One person had the beef special (short ribs) and thought the flavor was not as pleasant as it should have been.
The servers were well meaning but not as attentive as usual and required several reminders about simple requests.
We hope it will be better on our next visit.
We have been in a week long trip up the eastern shore . We stayed in Easton one night which is a beautiful little town . Our dinner that night was such a disappointment! We were sat a lovely table in this quaint establishment! That was the best part of the evening . Our server could not tell us the catch if the day . She had to go ask and then come back . Our drink order was messed up . Our meal was not good at all . The steak had no flavor and tough . The baked potato was minute . My salad and my husbands crab soup was average . Then our bill was messed up . We wished that we had chosen another rest! The night before we were in Cape Charles , Virginia and has one of our all time favorite meals .
We like Bannings Tavern b/c the food, drinks and service are consistently good!!!!
Bannings Tavern in Easton MD has the best food I have had in ages. It's an active bar with many great beers and also has a quieter dining room. I had some wonderful clam chowder and the most delicious chicken livers. Not something that you find on the menu very often. Also we had an attentive server. An excellent evening.
Love Bannings Tavern. Great atmosphere, great service
As good as bar food gets! Excellent burgers and sublime soft shell crabs. Ample drinks, generous pours. Dependable spot for pre-theater chow
We love the charm of Easton and Bannings just adds to it. The Rockfish was perfectly prepared. It was not just the usual broiled or fried but was seared and served with couscous and asparagus. The Shepherds Pie was absolutely wonderful. The lamb tender and very generous portions. We love this place and as always the clam chowder is one of a kind and spectacular. Service friendly and atmosphere fun.
Great place to meet. Perfect if you're going to the Avalon for a show. Wish I was hungry enough for the pork chop. It looked delicious.
we were seated next to the bar which was incredibly loud making it difficult to have a peaceful dining experience. Food was good but I wasn’t a fan of the ala cart menu.
My wife and I had dinner before attending show at the Avalon Theater and since it is connected it was very convenient. Great dinner and we arrived early which was no problem and had a great dinner with great view out of the window. Side note National Reserve was awesome in the Stoltz listening room.
From start to finish, our meal at Bannings was superb!!! It was further enhanced by the exceptional service we received from our server Kim who was not only knowledgeable regarding our food and wine pairings, but also her very personable nature. The portions of the meal were quite generous. Most restaurants usually offer only one soft-shelled crab with their dinner entrees...Bannings provided two!!!! If you are in the Easton area and looking for a place to dine, Bannings Tavern is a “must” stop...whether on a romantic date for two or taking the family out for a meal.
Great meal on our Anniversary
No special event. Live in Easton. Both my wife and I go to Bannings.
I was tired and wanted to “ get away” and have dinner. Bannings was very crowded and wait staff was overwhelmed.
Meal was good but they had run out of Fish of the day plus some condiments.
Nice restaurant w/ good food.
Food was delicious, service was warm and friendly.
Dine at Bannings almost everyone we time we are in Easton. Food is consistent and always great. Serving staff is great. Always good service and great personalities. Always have a good time.
Excited to bring our friends to Bannings after a previous good experience we were disappointed. We were told that they were out of several types of liquor including Titos. Why? We ordered wine from the wine list and they were also out of that! The sever handled it well, clearly not her fault. The food was mediocre. I ordered the short rib which was flavorless. It tasted as it it had been previously frozen and likely more than once.
From the outside to the inside of this restaurant, every square inch radiates refinery. The decor was simple and elegant. We started off with the crab dip appetizer. It was amazing, the only comment I have is that I would expected more for a $15 appetizer. Next I got the pan-seared rockfish with roasted tomatoes as basil and couscous. It was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of fish on my plate. For dessert I got the chocolate espresso cheesecake, it was AMAZING! If I go back for anything it will be that, it was perfectly flavored and nice and creamy. Our waitress Kim was extremely kind and had a genuine interest in us. The food is pricey but in the end it was all worth for the quality of food we were given. I would definitely dine here again.
Every time we have gone, something has been wrong-- out of the food selection we wanted, took too long for food to come or not fully cooked, grilling prime rib after roasting --ugh; not being seated/served because we arrived a few minutes (literally) before official start time yet not offered the option to have drinks at the bar until dinner service began.
Found this restaurant through Open Table as we were visiting the area with no prior knowledge. We both had the rock fish dinner and it was delicious. It had so much flavor. We sat outside and it was such a pleasant view, great people watching and quiet. Our meal was early so I can't say if it gets louder as the evening goes on.
It was a wonderful meal. The bread was warm and perfectly timed with our meals.
Food and service was very good. Went fir a special occasion and we were treated very well.
The front of house manager and one of the servers got into a very loud argument in the middle of the restaurant. It was very awkward
Easton is limited in choice for dinner on a Monday evening. I had not been to Banning’s Tavern since it was Legal Spirits. It is conveniently located in the center of town, across from the Tidewater Inn, in the Avalon Theater building. The menu features pub favorites, as well as dinner appetizers and entrees. The presentation could have been better. I had the impression that several dishes had been kept warm to be able to deliver them together. (We were a party of six.) The waiter thanked us repeatedly for being patient, which we were, although it seemed she had more tables than she (or any other server) could handle. The food was okay, but not memorable. There seemed to be a nice bar scene in the bar area—we were in a back dining room—and perhaps that would be a better place to be seated.
Great service! The food was good, especially the onion rings! We will definitely be back!
The scallops were wonderful, my daughters burger choice was cooked perfectly and my husband had shrimp with grits. All in all we had a great experience and our waitress was friendly and welcoming.
Thank you and we will be back.
Unfortunately, they were out of the Rockfish I was hoping for, substituted Red Snapper, was out of the Quinoa, and substituted Risotto. The charcuterie plate was mediocre, with what seemed like grocery sliced salami and pepperoni rather than hand sliced meats. Waitress was fantastic, but couldnt help a poor kitchen experience.
Always enjoy dining here. Had excellent wine also. Here before show at Avalon
Service was so terrible. My husband and father in law ordered the prime rib and did not get a steak knife. Took forever to get the waitress’ attention to ask for it. My mother in law’s food was undercooked. The waitress raved how good the food was but it was sub par and that along with the poor service- we won’t go again. It’s sad too as I heard good things about it and it was disappointing. The waitress did apologize and said she ‘prides herself in good service’ but it was really bad and that comment made me question if she even knows what good service is.
Food was okay. Not a lot of flavor in the pork loin sandwich. Specialty drinks were terrible!
Tough to beat a Bannings burger! Hand formed, an incredibly juicy, perfectly cooked delight. Fries crispy and hot, onion rings too good to share. Tables in the bar can be noisey, especially on a Friday nite when the locals gather for Happy Hour
Shrimp and grits was terrible, under cooked not good flavor. Extremely noisy, restroom was up three flights of stairs. Only good thing was the service!
Nice quaint restaurant with an attentive staff. Enjoyed the visit and will return.
