Bar 1 - Ascot Berkshire

They need to hire new bouncers that ignore table reservations and shout in every young adults face when entering for no reason. Bad mouthed pricks. Make the atmosphere terrible for everyone who visits. Shocking, they hire Charlie the main bouncer to shout at lairs gypsies not at random people who have food on their table inside. This bouncer screamed in my face I went inside for half an hour. Went out for a cig. As I’m going back in he’s trying to tell me it is fully booked wouldn’t even listen to me whilst my food had arrived at my table and was going cold. They made the best set up on the high street gaining all the customers of the young adults in the area from the Stag and will ultimately lose them to the head bouncer who is realistically just a nonce who will let any girl in

My granddaughter and I enjoyed our meal and we were spoilt for choice with the menu. We will need to come again and try some more interesting dishes.

Another great visit to Bar 1. The food is always wonderful and tasty, the atmosphere, considering current conditions, was not too bad once there were a few tables occupied and music was on. The staff are always so helpful and friendly. Love this place!

Sadly booked a meal for a date night and they showed the boxing. Not really a good night full of lads out for a good night.
Had we been told they were going to show the boxing I wouldn’t have booked

Such a lovely relaxing lunch with friends. Had a tapas dish such good value and very tasty. Great service and atmosphere.

Good food and good value as we took advantage of the 50% off offer, if it wasn't for the offer then the food is overpriced.
Excellent service at just the right pace.

I have seen scampî s on another table and there were big so I ordered the same. The guy came with small ones. I told him why small when I have seen big on another table. The guy said we put more when they are small. I told him I want big because they taste better and than he started to argue. My friend had spare ribs that were full of ketchup. Really nothing special there and no wonder the place was empty with 5 clients where it was a 40 people place...

Mon-Friday early birds get a 50% discount and I can see why.... restaurant was virtually empty, food very expensive for what is was so 50% discount actually brought it down to the value it probably should have been.... not very tasty meal. Not much choice for wine by the glass.

Last time I came I had tapas, now that was nice !.

I booked a table with you a few weeks back for 3 people on 22/06/2019 it was for my friends birthday. Our Plan was to come to Bar 1 for a meal and then venture onto Club 1 for more drinks and dancing. At The time of the booking I was unaware that it was Ascot Races. On route to the restaurant there was heavy traffic so I rang the restaurant to explain our booking was at 8:00 but we would be delayed by 30 mins. I was told it was fine get here when you can.

We arrived at Bar1 and we were greeted by a waitress who questioned me several times about my booking and when I booked which unnerved me slightly and I actually found very unprofessional as she was extremely negative. I could see a table laid up for 3 I pointed out the table she then asked me again about my booking.

I explained that I emailed ages ago didn't hear so I went to bar 1 website and it tells you to book through Open Table which I did I had a confirmation email so was happy that my reservation was confirmed. She then told me you had lots of problems with open table. I politely pointed out that really wasn't my concern. She eventually sat down and gave us a set menu .....This confused me as I had viewed the menu online and it stated nothing about a set menu or in fact about early closure due to Ascot races. The waitress then came back and declared that everything would be shutting down at 10pm by this point it was now 9:00pm. It became very clear we could not stay I was not prepared to pay £30 for a meal that I would have to eat within the hour and leave. I was so disappointed I had planned the whole evening for my friend so she could relax and enjoy her birthday.

It also proved to be a very costly evening as we had paid £38.00 to get a Taxi there to have to abandon our night with no food and left stranded in Ascot. By this point it ws too late to get food and we ended up having to return home. We should of been contacted in advance to be told about ascot and the changes that would affect us.

Thought I’d give this place a go.... been a few times when the races are on and it does get busy

If planing a meal here, worth checking if the footies on cause it gets a bit loud

Lovely surroundings, courteous staff and good choices on the menu. food well cooked, compliments to the chef. Have visited before and will definitely be back

They had a group of 30 people arrive. Once the group arrived the staff forgot about us. The manager did come and ask after 20 mins if we are being looked after but by this time we just wanted the bill.

We were the only diners are lunch. It was horrid weather outside which may have had a bearing.

Fabulous food and service as always. Food is always great and the menu is constantly changing with some great vegetarian options available too.

Went for Royal ascot, everything was amazing, food, service and a great table for people watching . Would highly recommend.

Most people go for the bar, but the dining experience was excellent. Even right after the Royal Ascot day of races, there were plenty of available tables. We had made a reservation, but there was room at 6:15pm.

Food was superb, the servers were all very personable, and the location was less than 1/4 mile from Ascot’s main gate. A wonderful end to a great day.

Awful food, sea bass was totally overcooked and my ultimate chicken cesear salad had to be brought out 3 times as ther forgot items. 3rd time was inedible......

We were an office team of 12 who had come to have lunch prior to visiting Ascot Racecourse. We had limited time and so sent through the menu beforehand. All of our food was served on the dot and was hot and delicious and plenty of it - certainly no scrimping on portions here! Everyeone in the group commented on how lovely their meal was and felt it was a shame that it wasn't closer to our home town. I had mushrooms in a garlic sauce to start followed by chef's special pasta with chicken and bacon. Both were delicious. My colleague who had the steak was raving about it hours later and those that had salads were almost unable to get through them - so generous. The service from Mary Kay and her colleagues was first class. We were made to feel very special and if the boss takes us all to the races again we will be back to Bar One without a second thought. Thank you.

The service was good but sometimes hard to get waitresses attention. My wife ordered fish and chips and left half her meal as it was full of bones.

Fabulous meal as always, I am never disappointed with the level of service, the quality of food or the amnbience. Truly great find.

They had lost or cancelled our reservation. Clearly written in their book but someone had drawn a line through it. No table available and so we left and went elsewhere

We booked a table at bar one ascot but when we arrived the restaurant told us they had no booking for us. It was ridiculously busy anyway and we didn't fancy eating there within the crowds anyway. We could have argued the toss but there was a group of 9 of us so we would have struggled to get a table there anyway, but we did struggle to find dinner anywhere else. It was a disappointment as this was an occasion to celebrate my 30th birthday. I'm not sure what happened to our booking as I had email confirmation to say we had a table.

Best meal we've had in the 7 days we have been in England.

Faultless as usual. Great and extensive menu, I never find a problem finding something fabulous to eat. Service was great, not too much, not too litle.

Lunch for four on the second day of Royal Ascot week. The staff and kitchen did an excellent job on the day, everything arrived hot to the table. The staff were very pleasant in spite of the number of diners they had to serve in a very short space of time.

Good for Lunch just prior to Racing. Waitress worked very hard in a busy restaurant. Pricey for what we ate but food good and plentiful.

we celebrated my husband bday n the food wss very good. We had early dinning n we got 25% off the bill. However, the service n ambiebce was average.

Great food, great ambience, service is excellant. I have never been disappointed in Bar One and would recommend for any kind of meal.

Booked a table for a Saturday evening birthday celebration with another couple. Restaurant area was at one end of a crowded pub which was playing extremely loud music, which made conversation difficult.

Food was very good as was wine selection. However overall I feel this venue is let down given the distracting nature of the venue.

We normally enjoy Bar One hugely, but for some reason on this date, the service was not quite the same. The service was a bit slow and the new guy was a bit grumpy!

Food as always was excellent. Although I do need to say as is the time of year. the desserts were hugely limiting and quite expensive (£6.95).

Still enjoy going there overall.

accommodated a large group with short notice. food and service were very good. would definitely go there again when visiting for work or holiday.

I had the seabass and my friend the lamd stew and we both enjoyed it. It was tasty and good portions. The desserts: apple crumble and lemon pie were delicious .
The service was very good and the gils were very friendly.
I hihgly recomment it.
