We were asked to leave because of another reservation before we had finished. This is unacceptable at over 100 dollars per person and probably would have ended up spending double. Will never return.
We went for our 8 year anniversary dinner. We've never been to Bar Isabel before, but we spent 10 days in Barcelona in the summer of 2019. I would say the food is comparable to some of the best tapas bars that we visited while there. Other than the fact that there weren't as many seafood options, which you can expect because we're in Toronto. The wine selection was really great. They have orange skin contact wine from Georgia by the glass for a decent price, plus a bunch of other budget friendly options by the bottle. There are some great looking wines available too, if you want to break the bank!
Our severs were very freindly, even though though they were really busy, they were all very attentive.
All the staffs were very friendly, professional. We’ve never had a bad experience because they keep evolving on customer service, foods and ambience.
Great Spanish food. Bone marrow dish is not as good and valued since there's only two pieces of bone and 4 slices of breads.
I dragged my husband and adult daughter out to this Spanish restaurant that was outside of their usual repertoire. Their complaints turned to satisfaction early in the evening, especially with my daughter who does not drink in front of her parents. The tapas arrived quickly, and the main servings were interesting and satisfying, especially the greens and the octopus. The service was excellent, and I relished the quasi art nouveau interior. It was a bit too noisy, but we could hear each other with a few repetitions and without straining our voices. My chief complaint is the high price point on the wines. This was a very un-Spanish experience. There should be a very affordable house wine. I ordered the second least expensive item on the list, and sipped my one glass very slowly but it ran out before I had finished the meal. When I returned home, I went to the cupboard, uncorked a good tempranillo from the LCBO, and had the rest of a glass of wine. I am pretty sure I was still under the Ontario driving limit! The whole bottle cost the same as my thimble of wine at Bar Isabel.
Good spanish tapas. Very expensive though. I've been to other spanish restaurants and their food was exquisite for half the price. We had a very good and attentive waiter, sitting at the bar.
Fantastic food along with fast and friendly service made my evening thoroughly enjoyable. A must visit for anyone looking great food and a friendly atmosphere.
We arrived for our reserved table just in time for our waiter to abandon us for with glasses of water while he sucked up to a table of 8 for the next 15 minutes. After we threatened to leave he apologized but the damage was done. Food wasnt that great either.
It’s probably our fav date place in the city
Amazing food and great ambience, as always. We’ve tried this restaurant about 6 years ago and thought it was amazing. Finally had the chance to come back and it the food just as amazing as I have remembered it.
A touch of Spain in Toronto. If you can't book a flight to Barcelona, just get a table at Bar Isabel. You won't be disappointed.
Identical restaurant from bar marsella in barceloca
I have loved Bar Isabel for a long time but this time just did not measure up. The only dish I enjoyed was the foie and sobresata. Overall completely underwhelming and not worth the cost.
Bar Isabel is a lively restaurant with great food. We had the grilled octopus, oysters, snow pea leaves, the jambon tasting plate, sea bream ceviche. Everything was delicious, and the ceviche was probably my favourite - the octopus was likely my least favourite. Definitely go and enjoy the food and the crowd.
One of the best places to eat in Toronto! Love it!
Always a nice place to eat and spend time with friends.
The food was, and continues to be excellent in this place. Such a friendly atmosphere, and one that is cultivated so well by the people who work there.
Memorable as always!
Food quality: excellent. Noise level: extreme. I was completely hoarse the next day.
Lovely as usual but TOO Loud. We had to shout and went home with a sore throat. Please do something as it is dangerously loud.
Food and service excellent as always. Noise level too high!
Excellent service and very unique food. Good to mix it up with different dishes.
The food and service is excellent. It is costly to eat here.
A great experience....except for the 100 decibels! We keep returning for the food and service, but I think a large carpet on the floor would help mute the cacophony. Also, a little flashlight on each table would allow me to read the menus better. (I don’t have an iPhone).
Amazing food and service. Always love visiting. Have visited this located and Raval many times.
One of my favourite spots in the city.
Great food as always. We felt a little bit rushed out of the restaurant. As soon as we finished our food, we had to pay right away and the waitress brought our coats for us to leave.
We have gone there many times from the time it first opened. It was wonderful the first time and we find it gets better each time and continually exceeds our expectations. We also hear the same from patrons sitting next to us, each time we go. Certainly a special place.
We shared quite a few plates between the 2 of us, and each were complex and well balanced. Good portions too. Sharing between 3 or 4 people would be most ideal! Thanks for a great night! Service was excellent.
I have nothing bad to say. I wish I remembered our server’s name, she was so so great. The entire front of house team worked so fluidly together. The food was amazing and delicious and unique, foie grad was the favourite. Thank you for a lovely evening.
While the food was good, it was not worth the price.
Bar Isabel was a wonderful experience and we would certainly return next time we are in Toronto. Service was delightful, food excellent and the vibe in the bar was electric. The only criticism is that drinks (wine list) was very expensive and not indicative of the Spanish experience. A few lower cost items would be appreciated.
Good experience overall.
There is a great selection of food and especially wine.
The gem of the night was how well the server explained the dishes to us. Her knowledge and passion as she spoke was intoxicating.
The prices were fair for what we received.
The food was pretty good - but not amazing.
We would return to try other dishes.
Out favorite was the octopus! Obviously!
The ceviche was tasty - my personal preference is when ceviche is finely cut into small pieces.
The ambiance is nice - the lights are dimmed low, and not too much decoration on the walls.
Food was delicious; service was impeccable (friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, fast); ambiance is first-date great. Slight crimp in the evening: noise level went from fun-loud to yelling across the dinner table loud and still not being able to hear my dinner partner.
Absolutely amazing! Our server, Lou, explained everything on the menu. His suggestions were on point, and he makes the best drinks!😊
Bartender was very slow and not very friendly. . We knew in advance that we would have to vacate our seats at the bar at 9 pm. Although we were about to order another bottle of wine and more food, no attempt was made to accommodate us in a different part of the restaurant. Disappointing as previous visits overall service and hospitality was much better.
Jake was an amazing waiter, great suggestions and excellent service!
Very good food but service was spotty. The place itself had a very cool speak-easy vibe but everybody working seemed to act “too cool”. My friend and I came for the first time having had good experiences at their sister spot, Bar Raval, and were met with somewhat condescending help with the menu. Menu is not entirely intuitive so I suggest knowing what you want, and I mean literally googling every single dish if you’re not familiar with Spanish food, prior to going.
Delicious! Can’t find this food anywhere else!
Still one of the very best places for an evening in Toronto.
