Food is okay but felt completely bloated after which is not a good sign for cleanliness.

Great experience! But no social distancing between tables.

Great vegan place!!!
1.whether you vegan or not would recommend this place
2. Good amount of heaters for outdoor eating - just wish the tables were a bit bigger
2.Drinks - spicy margarita and red sangria (a bit on sweeter end for my taste)
3.food - nachos, cauliflower enchiladas and croquettes
Nachos is definitely a sharer (we have an ok appetite and had to take more than half the enchiladas to go) -good portion sizes
4. $$ - definitely value for money based on portion and taste
5. Would recommend reservation as they only have 5 outdoor tables

my favorite spot for southwestern vegan cuisine; it's usually next to impossible to find delicious options that are both gluten free and dairy free but Bar Verde does this impeccably!

Sever didn’t bring my drink after taking my order for over 15 minutes and proceeded to serve a table that had been seated long after me. I left after realizing he had no intention of serving me.

The food here was absolutely fantastic. Went with 2 people and everyone was in love with their dish. Prices are fair for the quality and quantity. A perfect place to go for a celebratory meal, or to snack with friends over drinks.

Service seemed a little overwhelmed. Our drinks arrived late. Covid-eating on a Saturday night is probably chaotic anywhere in NYC so I can cut them some slack.

My only complaint is that the customer base was kind of douchey. Lots of uppity wealthy recent East Village implants. Waited what seemed like forever for the bathroom. When it finally opened, two girls stepped out of it in a way that seemed they had been using the single stall restroom to powder their noses and gossip. No regard to the long line waiting on them.

This place was cute and great for vegan diners but the service was sub par. Our food arrived before our drinks and we had to wait 15 minutes after getting our food for our drinks to finally arrive. The servers seemed under staffed and we had to wait a while for our server to take our order. I would only recommend this place if you are looking for vegan options.

Most delicious food and good amount of outdoor seating

From a quick glance at the menu you would have no idea that this restaurant is VEGAN aka no meat... totally my fault for not reading the menu more closely before booking. But it was very delicious. I wouldn’t go back but it was really good.

The food is delicious. I wish that there was more food. It can be quiet pricey for small portions but the food is so tasty. The jackfruit pibil tacos are amazing.

It was great. Service was amazing as always! They were busy but still did not rush anyone and made sure everyone was attended. The food was delicious and fresh.

Sooo delicious!!!!! For those looking for an extensive and nuanced Mexican menu that is completely plant-based, this is your go-to. Great drinks, as well.

We showed up and were seated. We waited 30 minutes at our table before deciding to leave since no one showed up to take our order or check on us. We weren’t given water or anything. Servers were busy tending to the section immediately adjacent to the restaurant and our area was ignored. Given that it was around 10pm and no order was taken, we decided to leave. Very disappointing since we waiting till we could get a 9:00/9:30 late dinner reservation. Being busy or overwhelmed is understandable. But in a span of 30 mins, they should’ve checked on us at least once to take the order. Unacceptable, poor poor service.

Finding good vegan food is a challenge and Bar Verde exceeded expectations. The servers were all friendly and attentive (shoutout to Luis and Miguel). The ambiance was cute and the food was absolutely delicious.

Personally recommend the Paloma, nachos, fajita bowl (not pictured), and flan.

Can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu!

Bar Verde is beyond fabulous!!! The drinks and the food are delicious!!! The server was very personable & helpful & available! It’s one of the best! Matthew Kenney is a food magician! The sauce that looks like queso made out of butternut squash is even better than anything I’ve had at any Mexican restaurant. This place is an absolute neighborhood must!! And if you don’t live in the neighborhood, you’ll wish you did!!! The service was outstanding as well!

The food here was insanely good. So beautifully curated and the flavors were great. None of the servers knew where each plate for the tables were going and our drinks took 30 minutes to come, but besides that definitely worth coming here for the food!

Great food - you’d never miss the meat - a bit pricey and service was just ok - but we’ll go back !

Too many tables in the tiny space — very crowded and constantly getting bumped into. Food was delicious.

Been a few times now and the food is always fantastic! Great service too. Very consistent. It can get quite loud, so be prepared to speak up!

Even though it was a small space, they graciously accommodated our party of 11. The food came out quickly and was delicious!

Amazing, delicious Vegan food. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Clean bathroom, beautiful bar and just lovely place. Can’t wait to go back and also try the other Matthew Kenney restaurants. This was a first time vegan experience for some family of mine and they were so pleasantly surprised which made me so happy. Thank you for sharing this beautiful food ☮️

The food was excellent but it was so cramped. We went on Valentine's Day and were packed like sardines. The servers could hardly pay any attention to us. Many mistakes were made with our orders and the parties to our left and right. I would guess that it is probably not like this on regular days, but I will probably not be going back to find out.

The food is very good. We have eaten here multiple times. This review is mostly for the Valentine’s Day special menu which was very good. It was unfortunate that the service was incredibly slow and inattentive. The kitchen seemed particularly behind even though there was a fixed menu. At $65 per person with no drinks, one would have expected a little more food as the appetizer- nachos or guacamole - was one serving to share. Dinner was almost two hours by the time we had the full menu due to the long wait time between dishes. Overall, a bit of a disappointment and not typical of our experience on previous visits.

We went during Valentine’s Day... the food was great and the waiter was accommodating but, the food took too long to come out!! Other patrons were getting their food before us even though we had been there longer with an earlier reservation. We were there for two hours and most of the of time was spent waiting for the food!! I’m not sure if it was because of Valentines Day or high volume but the fact that they also added gratuity on top of requesting tip with the long wait was unacceptable. Give us the choice to choose!

Delicious food! A little pricey but good portions & perfect for a special occassion!

From beginning, attentiveness was give. Food was excellent that night. The guacamole was impeccable. Because it got busy a little later, I had to do two or three reminders for another round after my third drink 😝. Overall good and I would go again!

MKC never disappoints and the fact that 3 of his restaurants are right next to each other is even better. The cauliflower enchiladas were amazing and so were the nachos and my beverage as well. The Paloma.

Great experience. Couldn't hear the waitress name as it was a little loud but she had a nice tattoo on her arm and was very attentive. Food was excellent and so was the passion fruit margarita.

food was delicious! authentic Mexican indeed - which is hard truly hard to come by (and vegan to boot!!).

Everything from the food to the service was amazing. We were a rather large party, and we had an extra guest show up, the staff was incredibly accommodating . Everyone including those who weren't vegan/ were skeptic to try vegan food loved everything from our meals to the desert option, the drinks were amazing as well. We will definitely be coming back here soon.
