Very pleasant local gem in Whitecross Centre. Very friendly and accommodating staff who have been serving clients with quality home made classic Italian cooking for 30yrs. My colleague and I having a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine did spend more than £50 a person so I would say, while not pricey, it is what to expect in London these days.
It is not easy to find a reasonably priced family-run Italian restaurant with charm and a great atmosphere in London but we were not disappointed. The service was great and the food was superlative - particularly the Calf’s Liver and Bacon which melted in your mouth. We will be returning!
It’s so lovely to eat in a restaurant which isn’t part of a chain. Owned and waited on by the family that run the restaurant. This place is great for solo diners, business lunches, an evening out with special friends, romantic meal, or a large group celebration. I love the consistency of the food and after chatting to the owners I realise this is because their chef has been with them for many years. Because of this it’s very easy to adapt your pasta ask for it spicy or ask for it with an extra something, never an issue. The menu is great and the changing daily specials make this one of my favourite places. My only criticism is that it isn’t open seven days a week. How dare they need to rest! Try it, you’ll love the warm welcome and the great food.
Great food and wonderful family atmosphere generated by the staff. Perfect for dinner if you are seeing an evening performance at the Barbican
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Baracca. All the food was beautifully cooked and delicious.... real homestyle Italian cooking. We sat in the main part of the restaurant and agreed that we wouldn't have wanted to be seated in the front extension area for an evening meal as it was a little soulless; I also felt that the choice of background music could have been better. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely return and would recommend the food wholeheartedly.
Lovely family restaurant with real Italian ambience
Eaten at Baracca many times over many years. It has always been a firm family favourite.
Hidden gem serving authentic and tasty italian food! The service was great and we will definitely come back soon
Family owned friendly Italian restaurant, top marks.
Great traditional family run restaurant, the service was friendly and the food was delicious - I recommend the avocado prawn cocktail and the spaghetti Bolognese. House red good value and very drinkable. Hope to visit again soon.
We arrived late for our booking because of Tube delays, allowing only half an hour for us to eat. The staff calmly and cheerfully served us a delicious meal with time to eat it!
This is a little gem hidden away near the Barbican. The husband and wife team (now joined by their son) are always so welcoming, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious, unpretentious and very good value. It fills up pre-theatre, but is not noisy and there is no intrusive music. We love it.
This place is amazing - always great food fab service - will be back
Nice restaurant. Great food. Very good service. Relaxed atmosphere.
Good food and service in a location convenient for the barbican and Guildhall.
Food was very good except the pana cotta which was more cream caramel. pasta was excellent. Service friendly and attentive, but not overly so. Good value for money.
The best restaurant with best Italian food, with intimate atmosphere and charming member of staff. I have been going there for more than 10 years - it never fails to impress! Delicious food and attentive care. Cozy and comfortable. Can’t recommend more!
Einfaches, solides Essen für jeden Tag ohne Schnörkeleien. Aufmerksame Ansprache, freundliche Bedienung mit persönlicher Note.
Always a good welcome, some nice options on the "Specials" chalkboard, food lovely, attentive and prompt service. Cannot recommend too highly .
Had a really good meal. Not the largest of menus. Traditional Italian food but no pizzas. Service was very prompt and friendly. Ideally situated for show at the Barbican.
Lovely family feel Italian restaurant in the heart of the Barbican. We selected it for its location but the food was lovely. Simple and fantastic value too. We would go again!
Very good Italian food and excellent service! Carbonara was exceptionally good, surprisingly enough, as many Italian restaurants in London don't actually achieve a simple good carbonara!
Family run bistro. Great food and friendly service. Excellent for pre-Barbican meal
We went for a pre-theatre meal and the service was prompt and friendly. Our food was lovely too.
Great meal and service but on a particularly quiet Tuesday just lacked ambience. I’m sure when busy this would be a great place
We enjoyed an excellent meal before a concert at the Barbican. Prompt service and attentive waiter.
Lovely meal for us and two granddaughters. Great service. We are lucky to have such a lovely place so near.
Excellent evening, as it is on all the occasions we have visited this restaurant.
Excellent family-run restaurant. Tasty, good quality food. Kind, accomodating, low key service in a calm, relaxing atmosphere. It was easy for them to cater for our party of seven.
Lovely place, amazing value for money, food was excellent. Family run, I read that it has been open for 45 years and it certainly feels like not much has changed in that time - Just simple and delicious Italian food. Great service all round and the food was out on the table extremely fast - ideal for a pre-theatre/show meal!
Small family restaurant, excellent staff and good food at a very reasonable price.
Handy for the Barbican. Looks a little basic but service friendly and food good. Good portion sizes. Desserts were unimpressive.
One of my favourite Italian restaurants in London. Fabulous chicken Kiev.
Very comfortable and warm restaurant with lovely service. Good value too. Only a couple of minutes walk from the Barbican, so very convenient. Thank you!
Really great food and great service in a family run Italian.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere - will be visiting again.
It is so lovely to have proper tasty food in a family run Italian restaurant interacting with both the mother, the father and the son. I can thoroughly recommend this place so much better than going to those large chain restaurants were the only value to the people serving is their hourly wage. Try it, you’ll love it. A small run independent restaurant offering daily specials.
Fabulous restaurant, no noisy background music so perfect for conversation. The food was delicious and excellent value.
Excellent service and tasty food!
Great night out. Very friendly staff, and very attentive. Food very good.
Very friendly service, good food and good value for money. Handily placed for the Barbican.
