Great spot. Unique food that is so delicious. We can’t wait to go back
Always excellent. Great food, creative menu that regularly changes, good drinks, great service. Far and away the best restaurant in the South Bay.
Great and innovative food. Very, very crowded and noisy.
I keep returning to Baran’s because the service is always friendly and attentive; the food is consistently delicious and changes enough over time to make every visit somewhat different. It’s my go to place to meet up with friends in the South Bay.
It was wonderful! The food was exquisite and the service was very good! We will be going back for sure!
I eat out almost every day and Baran’s is the best restaurant around here.
This was our first visit to Baran's 2239 and overall, it was very good. Like many restaurants these days, it was a "shared plates" meal. The wine list offered selections for just about anyone. The tables are tight, but not uncomfortably so. While the menu changes frequently, we started with the shaved Brussels sprout salad which was a nice. We followed it with with a Potato Masala which begged for their House Focaccia. Unfortunately, they had run out of bread (disappointing). We also had the Gnocchi Nero and Indian Egg. They were good... but not great as we had hoped. Again, a very good experience... not outstanding. But certainly worth another visit.
Barans has great food in a great small noisy atmosphere. Very innovated menu.
Great food and service!
A not so hidden gem. Everyone should support this place. If you don’t live in the neighborhood...move there.
Chef Andrew was amazing!!!
This is a great, unassuming spot with great food. My wife and I enjoyed everything that we ordered and will be back. Our waiter said that the menu is constantly changing so we are excited to try new dishes.
The crab gnocchi was savory and richly delicious. We also had the brussel sprouts with dates and the iconic smoked fried chicken. I’ve never been disappointed here!
Amazing, amazing, amazing! Our first visit and one of our best meals in years. – – – Started with the House Focaccia—hot from the oven—that comes with a wonderful butter of perfectly blended Parmesan, herbs, and umami. We only ate half of it to save room for what was to come. – – – Shortly after, our Tomato & Cucumber salad arrived. This "little ol' salad" may have been the best dish of the night. We devoured it, but it was well worth taking the time to amass a balanced fork-full of cucumbers, cherry and sun dried tomatoes, yogurt and green harissa (olive) sauces, and hold it in place with a crispy hot bite of falafel. The result: a magical over-the-moon mix of fresh and savory flavors—all in one bite. – – – Next came our Bistro Filet, perfectly prepared medium rare through and through, sliced to share, accompanied with a lip-smacking savory sauce: one of our most enjoyable steaks in years. Along side were spicy finger potatoes topped with a soothing "63 degree" egg (think soft poached) to mix in. – – – We ended the night with their Butter Cake, another wonderful collection of tastes: buttery cake, blueberry sauce, fresh whipped cream, capped with a small ball of pear sorbet. I'm not a fan of pears but was in this dessert! – – – We enjoyed all this with a bottle of 2017 Daou Bodyguard, an unplausibly oh-so-wonderfully-dry blend of Pitet Verdot and Petite Sirah. – – – The service was friendly, genuine, and caring, and the ambiance warm and welcoming, but...for two folks in their 50's...a little too loud. So there were a lot of, "What did you say?" :-) Nevertheless, we're excited about returning to try out their 2lb Dry-Aged Bone In Rib Eye. – – – The bill for our amazing night of food (sans wine and taxes) was less than $80. I can see why Michelin gave Baran's 2239 a Bib Gourmand pick (inspectors’ favorite for good value). Baran's 2239 is an exciting new favorite for us, unassumingly tucked away in a little corner mini-mall at 5th and PCH in Hermosa Beach.
Great neighborhood spot. Everything on the menu is excellent. Been there many times and it’s always consistent. Great service and run by a great family.
Amazing food and ambience. Baran's 2239 never disappoints!
Very interesting (and well prepared) dishes. I marveled at the combination of textures in the dishes.
Every time I return to Hermosa Beach CA, be it a week or a month, I have to visit Baran's. Seasonal and creative small assemblages made to share with those you dine with. Perfectly seasoned. Menu changes frequently but I always manage to get the shaved Brussel sprouts. Nothing pretentious. (Hell, its located in a strip mall on PCH!) Lovely selection of cheeses. Great desserts. Nice, simple wine list. Wait staff is fun and knowledgeable.
We have been frequent guests since Baran’s opened. Overall best cuisine in the South Bay. Incredibly friendly and engaging staff and continuously changing menu. Never disappoints.
Best food in the South Bay. Baran’s offers unique, thoughtful dishes. It is worth the prices as the food is exceptional. We dined on a tuesday night and every seat was full- tables, bar seats and communal table.
Wonderful original inventive flavors, great fresh ingredients, fabulous!!
Quite possibly my favorite restaurant. Everything was amazing, but you must try the crab gnocchi nero, brussel sprout salad, lamb meatball with the egg inside (I don't even like lamb and this was amazing). Their butter cake had such a creative combination of flavors and was so memorable and delicious. Love love love the staff, food, and ambiance. They have a few staple dishes and a few items they change up frequently, so you can constantly go back and try new things. And EVERYTHING we've had the few times we've been there have been unique and delicious. Ask Jason about why it's called Baran's 2239 - so sweet.
This was my first time there. I’d tried to go once before on my bday but the restaurant called and canceled due to another large party taking over the space. I’m glad I tried again. The fried chicken was fantastic as was the Brussels salad. The service was spectacular. All of the food was terrific.
Our first time at Baran’s did not disappoint! Great ambience, and we were greeted warmly. The food is unique, creative and delicious! Fabulous wine selection ! This is truly a special place! We will definitely return!
Best restaurant in the South Bay!
Potato Tikka Masala and Steamed and Fried Chicken were amazing, out of this world. Then came the bread pudding for dessert... next level. To die for. So, so good. Friendly servers and warm ambiance make it a knock-out home run.
Food and services were good. A bit pricey for what you get.
My husband and I Went for birthday dinner and had wonderful meal. Tomato cucumber falafel salad, Indian egg , gnocchi Nero and house focaccia.. oh yes the coffee toffee pudding. Great service from Christopher, early so quiet for conversation and parking spot. The dishes were so flavorful, I loved the gnocchi Nero with crabmeat, so rich that I sopped up the sauce with my focaccia .
I thought the chef played with contrasts in taste and textures, crispy falafel and cucumber with rich creamy Greek yogurt, coffee toffee was crunchy and creamy and sweet and salty. Definitely will go back to try the eclectic menu with fresh farm to table ingredients.
We have been regular loyal customers since Baran's opened. The chef, social, humble and friendly does an excellent job with the seasonings, sauces he uses on the dishes he prepares. About every month the menu changes. The owners and their staff (family the first corkage is $25, the second is $35.
I wish Baran's a very successful, fruitful and prosperous future, they have earned it!
Wonderful experience! We'll be back that's for sure!!
Love this place, alway a great meal and menu changes all the time.
Great food creations, exceptionally prepared!
I’ve visited Baran’s every few months for the last year and always had a great meal.
Excellent food and a casual, understated atmosphere, with a nice energy level. Have been hearing for years about Baran's and have walked by a million times, but finally made it for an anniversary eve. Fantastic!
Good friendly service, eclectic always changing delicious menu. I brought friends from NYC and W LA . Absolutely loved the dining
Baran’s 2239 is a rare find. Excellent and unique dishes that are prepared to perfection. You might pay a bit more for a meal at Baran’s but it is well worth it. I would recommend this fine restaurant to everyone that appreciated excellent food!
Baran's always has fantastic food and we eat family style so we get to try all the amazing and creative dishes they offer. Funny location but worth the drive and the service is always fantastic!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time
Amazing food, good atmosphere and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
