   The appetizers and entrees were good. Our main issue was the service. I do not necessarily blame the server- I don't think she was trained well. There is a timing in knowing when patrons are ready to order. We did indicate we would like to enjoy our cocktails/apps but she repeatedly returned and throughout meal we felt rushed. She forgot to leave the corks from wine, forgot the salad but returned with it served in a bowl that was HOT. When I mentioned the salad was served in a hot bowl , she just said "sorry". She started to take drinks away that weren't finished. We finally asked if they needed the table. The check was correctly divided and she was pleasant, just a little too much of a hurry. We tipped well (former servers usually do 😉) but expected a little less hurried experience with salad 🥗 in a cool bowl prior to entree.

   We arrived on time and were immediately seated. The Ceasar salad was served with a strong anchovy taste in the dressing and no mention of that in the menu description(The original receipe from Ceasar's in Tijuana where it was invented doesn't include that). The Lasgna was very good but the bar was out of any port at the end of the meal.

   Had a lovely dinner with family. Great staff, good food. The only negative thing was they were out of several menu items, disappointing, but what we had was delicious.

    Four of us had dinner at Bari Italian on 12/3/22. The table was pretty small for four of us with drinks, silverware, plates, almost no room for appetizers to be placed on the table. Otherwise the ambiance was very nice. Waitress seemed new, did not know how to pronounce many of the names of the dishes even as she was reading from notes. Service was timely, not rushed. The food was the start at Bari. We had four different entrees: gluten-free risotto dish, seafood bake special, Wild Boar Raghu and Chicken Marsala. Each meal was terrific. My wife thought eh chicken marsala was the best she ever had - I agreed! My wild boar meal was tender, flavorful and enjoyed every bite. Wine selection was good, but pricey. Total for 4 dinners, one appetizer and 8 drinks was $220 before tip. A little high, but feel the value was there. Will definitely go back, as I don't think we've had better Italian food in Cedar Rapids - ever.

    Always a great meal with excellent service, great food and outstanding cocktails. The short rib ravioli and risotto were delicious. The salted caramel creme brulee was a really nice way to end the meal.

    We recently met friends for an early dinner on a Wednesday night, looking forward to their typically great appetizers. When we tried to order the charcuterie board (one of the few gluten free options available for 2 of our party) we were told that they were out of it. When I asked if they could do an abbreviated version and leave off what they were out of the manager visited the table to tell us that they were short handed in the kitchen and didn't want to devote staff time to making the board. There were only 5 people in the restaurant at the time. We ordered other apps and found them to be less than expected with charred bread and overcooked cauliflower. I've dined here before and find that the service is usually great, the kitchen is inconsistent, and the current management less than graceful in handling problems.

I know that the sourdough is grilled, and I am sorry if the appetizers came out less than delicious. I hope that you give us a chance to rectify this in the future.     You can’t even order a salad or bread! The dish was good but needs sides.

    Beautiful restaurant! Our service was outstanding and the food was very good. Only complaint was that the lasagna noodles were over cooked. The Italian Rum Cheesecake was out of this world delicious.

    While the ambience is always wonderful , and the service was outstanding , there were some aspects that were very disappointing. At 7pm on a Friday night they were already out of 3 entrees on an already very limited menu. Then , when one member of our party wanted to substitute a side they were told by the chef , via our server that there were no substitutions allowed even though this is a scratch kitchen . Then he just asked if he could purchase a side , the chef again said this wasn’t available as a side - the side requested was mashed potatoes . This made for a less than desirable experience for our out of town guests .

We are so sorry that we were out of 3 items on the menu. Unfortunately we do not offer the mashed potatoes as a side or a sub for the entrees. With being a scratch kitchen we only prep enough for the entrée that it pairs with, the Filet. We are so happy that your server gave you such great service! I will be sure to let her know!

    Excellent service, interesting menu selections that are unique but full of familiar ingredients, clearly cooked in-house by a chef, great setting with just enough space between tables to provide privacy. I highly recommend it.

    Bari is my go to place for a quiet, relaxing dinner with my parents or my partner. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the last of the nice weather for the season. Food is always excellent, and the cocktails and wines by the glass are always great choices. Great staff, we enjoyed Tony and he made our night even better. Thank you for all your hard work!

    Excellent food. Duck ravioli with cherry and wine sauce was to die for. Sad that they are rotating that off the menu. Service was fast and attentive. They also brought out a nice fall bouquet center piece upon request for date night. Def would go back

    My duck confit raviolis were delicious! My husband ordered the lamb. Disappointing. Meat was tough. Both our wines were delicious. I ordered the Cabernet savignon & he ordered the Malbec. Very nice. The creme brulee was good too. The coffee was a nice finish to the meal & very good too.

    A friend and I shared the angolotti as an appetizer. I ordered the duck ravioli as my main course and my friend opted for the rack of lamb. Shared a salted caramel crème brûlée for dessert. Everything we had was absolutely fabulous! Ambience was lovely as well. Our server was experienced, friendly and attentive. Going back ASAP!

    We came to Bari with high expectations, based on previous reviews we’d read. Our experience was just average. Most likely it was due to a mismatch in our tastes versus those of their executive chef. Let’s start with the grilled sourdough and ricotta cheese appetizer. The bread was tough, extremely chewy, and even difficult to cut with a knife. The ricotta topping covered each piece entirely (would have been better in a ramekin for the diner to spread as desired). The ricotta was sweet, not savory, something we don’t like before dinner. Save the sweet for dessert. Let’s move on to the wedge salad. Overpowered with a sweet (again) tomato jam and under done on the Maytag blue cheese and pancetta. My wife ordered the Barramundi with crispy Brussels sprouts, Arborio rice, and a tapenade. Good, but the fish may have been slightly overcooked. We’re not sure, and didn’t say anything to the server, because we’ve never tried Barramundi before. Overall she enjoyed the dish. I ordered the Agnolotti and added Italian sausage. It was just an average pasta dish for me. Nothing remarkable. Parking was easy, decor is modern, clean, but a bit too we’ll lit. We would recommend a dimmer lighting at night. The restaurant was not busy at 7:00 pm on a Wednesday night, about 25% full. Management checked our table several times and she and our server were attentive.

    We were greeted pleasantly, seated (we had a reservation), and waited on promptly. We had our drinks quickly and then were given a leisurely time to see the menu. The food, everything we ordered, was fantastic! And, we ended with my favorite dessert, an excellent tiramisu, complimentary because it was my birthday! A wonderful evening.

    Loved the food and the service was so great! The one thing I would change is the one booth we sat in which is to the right of the bar against the same wall as the bar. Perhaps a rectangular or square table would've better suited that spot. However, it was a little more quiet than I would've liked. Maybe some more Italian music at one level louder would've been perfect. Loved that steam fireplace piece to the right of the bar. Also bummed out that the patio wasn't open. 60 degree weather was so perfect on Saturday, October 1st! Would've been perfect to sit out there!
