Very nice place. Food was very good. Highly recommend the cornbread, fried rice and the mango hibiscus margarita. A couple of hiccups with service, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. However, I was advised by a person in my party who arrived prior that the hostess was rude - that would keep me from coming back since they can set the tone for the evening. I can say that it was not all of the ladies, but there was one that was either the self appointed leader or the actual. She has no management skills, that was clear.
We were so impressed with our dinner we had and the service we received from the staff. It was a great meal and experience
We went for Happy Hour and enjoyed tasty cocktails and appetizers.
I was there for a meeting, great experience with the server! He knew when to ask questions and when to give us space. Food was great!
Great drinks, though no beer on tap if you’re in to that. Great good! Shrimp tacos were amazing! The noise level is loud but it adds to the ambiance.
The vibe (music & ambiance) was nice. The food was good except we could tell it had been sitting for a while because the plates were very hot and the food a little soggy. Some of the chicken was a little burnt in the enchilada. But overall it tasted really good.
Food was good but service was way too slow. Also we found it too loud
Food and service was excellent!!
What a fabulous restaurant. The food was fantastic. The drinks were spectacular and the service was friendly and professional. We had such an enjoyable dinner there. Tried 6 different cocktails and we enjoyed them all. Ordered a guacamole flight and the queso fundido apps which were so delicious. The tortilla chips were thick, tasty and hot when delivered to our table; so good! For dinner we got steak tacos - fabulous. Shrimp tacos - also fabulous. And 2 orders of adobo fried rice - fantastic. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. Wish we’d had room to try more things. Our server was friendly and attentive and food arrived at a good pace. Such a fun night; look forward to dinning there again when back in Chicago. 5 star restaurant!
We live in the hood and haven’t been over in awhile. Nice lunch, server was nice but slow to get drinks and food. We’ll be back!!

Overall good experience, food was good and bottomless mimosas were definitely worth but we didn’t have good service. Our waitress brought us the check without asking if we needed or wanted anything else in which case we did because we were celebrating a special occasion. Personally that was rude and she wasn’t very attentive with us.
Has a puppy menu!
Great food, great outdoor seating, good service!
Made reservation for a Saturday night. Seated promptly. Server was excellent and food was good. Also Mango marg was great.
The food was delicious. Recommend the steak tacos. Margaritas are good. Friendly server will be back.
Great food, fun ambiance. My only complaint was that our table was extremely unstable (booth in the back corner behind the bar) and everytime anyone touched the table everyone's drinks spilled. You could litterally spin the table...
This was a pleasant surprise, the food was good but the drinks and Sidney our server, were amazing. Definitely recommend!
The food is great and drinks are well made. It's just a little too expensive for what you are getting. The setting is uninspired and purely functional.
It was okay. Chicken was not cooked 100%. Drinks are delicious but food not that great .
Great staff, amazing music, good food!
Group dinner with friends got the marg tower!
Wow! Everything was delicious. Try the fried rice. It’s amazing. Our server was incredible too.
Had an outside table in the early evening (weeknight Happy Hour) with my husband and adult son, and they also welcomed our small dog. It's so rare to find a restaurant with this quality of menu and service that allows you to bring your dog. After a two week road trip with the pooch I can say this with authority. The place worked out perfectly for us - a delicious meal served quickly with friendly service, outside (Covid-approved) on the edge of a bustling city street. The whole experience was a great way to end our short visit in Chicago.
Barrio has the best drinks and the best ambiance, but the food here is just overall terrible. The chicken sandwich meat was undercooked, the fries were super salted, the tacos are miniature and they’re almost 20 bucks for 3 of them. The queso fundido was the only thing that was good. I don’t know if we caught it on a bad time or not but the food was seriously disappointing and I brought friends who were visiting from New York to this place specifically because the menu sounded so delish. If you’re looking for a place just for appetizers and drinks, here is your best bet since the restaurant is so beautiful inside and the drinks were good.
Food was amazing and I highly recommend the classic margarita tower! Martha was an amazing server!! I'll be back!
This is one of my favorite places in Chicago
Food was decent, not as good as last time. Service was really poor. One of the bartenders also had his mask down below his chin the whole time we were there.
A wonderful experience! My girlfriend is from Mexico and she was impressed with this restaurant. As we make more trips to Chicago, I know we’ll find our way back to Barrio the sample more of the menu.
Great food, great drinks! I’ll definitely be back!
Food is great, but drinks were not. They are small, pricey and didn’t taste that great
The food was delicious, but it was a pretty limited menu. Service was great. The atmosphere was very fun, The music was a little loud.
We loved that we were able to reserve outside. Food was great and service was excellent! Thanks for the anniversary ice cream!
Definitely worth the happy hour! Service was outstanding and made all the difference- food was just ok, although the guac and mushroom taco are phenomenal!
Food was excellent, once we received it. Ordered appetizers and entrees. Server indicated that the entrees would not be placed in until appetizers came out. Waited a long time >15 min and our entrees showed up. Appetizers hadn't shown up. Entrees went back to the kitchen and we were assured that the appetizers would be coming and new entrees prepared. Appetizers did come after considerable time. Manager indicated the appetizers would be comped. Two minutes after appetizers showed up, entrees showed up. Fine. Food was great. When we received our bill, had to get a correction as the appetizers were removed and then added again. Too much hassle to go back again.
Great tasting experience and energetic atmosphere.
Great space and service from Martha. The variety of food was also a pleasant surprise.
The truffle mushroom tacos and the lobster quesadilla are the best.
My server was very attentive and the food is always great. My only complaint would be the hostess stand. It might not be their fault, but each time I visit Barrio I constantly have to wait a while before being seated. My most recent visit was a 10 minute wait in the entry way along with 2 other couples with reservations. The previous time I was told they didn’t get my reservation at all. I waited about 15 minutes, grew tired of waiting, and had to return to the hostess stand after seeing 2 other parties seated before me. Again, this could very well not be their fault, but it seems to be a constant occurrence even if you have reservations.
The air conditioning wasn’t working so it was super hot. They wouldn’t let us sit outside without giving us the run around. They were short staffed and the food could’ve been better.
Portion sizes are generous and worth every penny. Would definitely recommend the lobster quesadilla, if you are a seafood lover! Great service and great location.
