Impeccable service and elegant decor. Food was done by Michelin star guest chef Hirohisa Hayashi. Outstanding experience in a small town - rivals, if not better than equivalently priced or more expensive Michelin star meals in major metropolitan cities.
Great experience with Chef Hirohisa Hayashi. Every course was a treat with some very unique twists with the japanese flair. The service also did not disappoint and was a 10/10. Thank you to Chef and the team at Bas Rouge.

The chicken mousse "cigar" appetizer and the Ahi tuna were divine. Go for lunch to make it wallet-friendly. And be sure to end the meal with a cappuccino. The best I have ever. Plus the beautiful, intimate setting and attentive but no overbearing wait staff make it a meal to remember. So wonderful our small town has an A+ restaurant!

Overall excellent with one exception: I am a retired Executive Chef with decades of international experience. I have dined in many excellent restaurants and have never experienced being told that the chef doesn’t allow me to order my dessert after I have finished my entree. I understand when it is a dessert that requires a lengthy preparation time such as a soufflé but I did not perceive any of the desserts on offer required a lengthy preparation time! After enjoying two appetizers and an entree, I wanted to wait a while before dessert anyway.
Aside from this, it was simply outstanding. It was my friend’s birthday and the service staff could not have been more accommodating. My friend was thrilled.....Thank you!

Lunch on a rainy day in Easton. Bas Rouge is part of a street of upscale dining options. Stepping inside was like entering a French Bistro. Fun, colorful floor tiles set the scene for a lovely escape from the dreary weather. Menu had a lovely cauliflower soup that was a perfect antidote to the cold day. Delicious bread was served with individual butters sprinkled with sea salt. An extra offering of bread would have been nice. I was surprised the sea salt flakes weren't offered instead of the salt shaker on the table for the rest of the meal. Excellent burger, perfectly prepared was a great lunch option. Hand cut fries were served with it. Ketchup and burger sauce were both provided. Service was top notch.
Valentines lunch was superb. Great starters, main courses, assistance in selecting a wine all made for a wonderful experience. Chance is a highly professional and friendly server. Five stars!
Has the charm, service and quality of a hidden gem somewhere in Europe. The level of professional service is so very high and the kitchen so very good.
Lovely lunch at Bas Rouge. I'd been there previously, but the others in our party had not and they gave it high marks. Service and food were impeccable. Wonderful place.
It pains me to write this review. As usual the food was sublime. Wait staff impeccable. And then modern humanity intruded and the situation was poorly handled.
Parking is very tight on Federal St. In front of the restaurant is a medium sized parking space. Along comes an XL size SUV that after hitting the pick up behind it at least 8 times while trying to wedge itself into the space comes to rest ON THE BUMPER of the pick up. Front of the house staff watched the spectacle and then greeted the guests warmly
Time passes, pickup truck owner returns and sees his situation. Into the restaurant he comes looking for the responsible party. Staff did nothing to diffuse the situation. Nor did they act when the SUV passenger yelled obscenities at another dinner who was simply bemused by the drama.
Very disappointing experience.
Quite honestly, among the best restaurants in the world. Paolo and I have dined at top restaurants in many countries. I have not had better food, presentation, service...anywhere: NYC, Milan, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Venice, San Francisco, DC etc

Excellent service with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Had higher expectations of the food. While my Dover sole was delicious, the heavy/buttery cream that surrounded it on the plate was too much. Turnips as the side dish were impossible to maneuver to cut without flying off the plate.
A simple garnish and/or simple veggie would have been better. We will try again.

Amazing meal. We didn’t know it was formal and were underdressed, but we were shown gracious and warm hospitality all the same. The food was exquisite, the service flawless, and the dining room gorgeous. Great wine list, too. What a find!
We continue to love Bas Rouge. On this day, the starters were the show. The oyster vol au vent and the agnolotti were absolutely fantastic. The coq au vin was very good, especially with the table side service by the chef. My scallops were slightly underdone and I was disappointed. All in all, a very good experience. Thank you.

A fantastic dining experience. Just like dining at the best restaurant in Vienna, Austria, and worth the comparatively high price. Go and celebrate.
Overall, we enjoyed the experience. Our main complaint was the coffee.
It was definitely not to our liking, and was not very warm when served.
To us the food ranged from excellent to good depending on the course.
We were not at all impressed with the food that was given to the ladies as
a parting gift. It might have been better to omit this gift, although
we appreciate the thought.
The staff were extremely hospitable. We liked the room.
Overall, we could think of other local restaurants where the food is, at times, just as good, and the
prices somewhat lower, but the real bummer was the coffee! Does anyone on the staff
drink coffee? Cost is not a big deal to us, but it did make us think that everything would
have been to our liking, and this was not the case.
We will return sometime to see how things are progressing. We do think that Bas Rouge is
a positive addition to Easton.

Beautifully designed restaurant where you can sit and hear one another. Great for conversation and dining. Food was good not great. We had higher expectations.
The wine list was extensive but really very overpriced. No real selection for a reasonable bottle of wine for lunch. 80 dollars was the cheapest bottle we could find. I’m originally from NYC and am a foodie so I know good restaurants and even in NYC I can find bottles with wider range from 50-70 dollars. There were only 3 tables occupied in the 2 + hours we were there.
"Bas Rouge" had old world service, an extensive wine cellar, and excellent cuisine. We were greeted with a glass of champagne to celebrate our Anniversary, then we both had oysters roasted in a brioche shell for our appetizer; it practically melted. I had Dover Sole with warm radishes, parsnips and meniere sauce; Rob had Prime Rib with whipped potatoes, and we had several glasses of a Red Bordeaux blend. They had the best bread basket and it's a good thing the pieces were small, because I sampled 3 kinds.
We lingered over coffee and dessert (warm truffle cake) with no pressure to leave. As we left, they gave us a pretty embossed bag with a menu of our dinner and a small bag of warm madeleines. It was a very special evening and a real treat.
NOTE: our server was a young, beautiful woman, whose very charming accent we could not place; we thought it might be French. The Sommelier was attentive without being overwhelming, and seemed to appear at just the right time. It has been a long while since anyone other than my husband or son held a chair for me, but every time I got up, I came back to find someone waiting to extend me that courtesy. Everything is done right.
What an outstanding dinner. We went for our anniversary- and were enjoyably surprised from amuse bouche through dessert. We will definitely return!
The door was opened for us and we were greeted warmly. There were only two or three other tables occupied when we arrived. But, they have a LOT of employees. While it is awesome to basically have your every need met, when they weren’t busy, they stood in a line behind and in front of the “bar”. I felt like an animal on display because they all kept looking at us. I realize it was probably mostly to be sure your drinks were filled, etc. But, it was disconcerting to me, as I hate to be the center of attention. My husband switched seats with me so I’d be facing the sidewalk instead of the kitchen area. This made me feel a LOT better. The food was all very good. I’ve definitely eaten a better tasting filet mignon, and my husband thought his wiener schnitzel was breaded a little heavily, and I wish there were at least one more choice for dessert, thus the four star review. The highlight might have been the warm and tender madeleines given at the end of the meal. To. Die. For. We left with two small pound cakes as a gift that we enjoyed the next day as a snack. I look forward to trying it again when we are in Easton.

One of the most creative and innovative dining places on the Eastern Shore... with service that’s unmatched anywhere. This a great splurge place.
The salmon was superb, paired with lobster, and the tuna tartar topped with caviar was magnificent. We had a table for two on the window at the front and had no problem with noise or other conversations. Our anniversary dinner was all we hoped it would be.

We were greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne which was such a nice touch! Our meal from beginning to end was superb! We ended the evening at The Stewart for champagne and ice cream! By far the best dining experience I have had in a long time! I can not wait to go back! Kudos to Chef Harley Peet and staff! Absolutely wonderful experience!

Just when you think it can't get any better.....Absolutely the best restaurant for multiple miles around. Always exceptional but dinner last night was a notch even above that. I had a wagyu beef thin sliced appetizer that was to die for. Husband had wonderful goat cheese ravioli. For mains, I had risotto with duck confit and he had lamb. Both were creative, outstanding and perfectly prepared. (oh and dessert was the cheese course and a chocolate tort with this amazing burnt marshmallow sauce. You have to taste it to get that this was something you now want to eat every week on every dessert. The service is, as ever, professional in every way but never stuffy "you are so lucky to be here tonight" in that classic annoying NYC way (we live half the time in NYC). It reminds me of the best places like Blue Hill and Via Carota and Little Owl. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Bravo and so glad they are here.
