What an outstanding dinner. We went for our anniversary- and were enjoyably surprised from amuse bouche through dessert. We will definitely return!
The door was opened for us and we were greeted warmly. There were only two or three other tables occupied when we arrived. But, they have a LOT of employees. While it is awesome to basically have your every need met, when they weren’t busy, they stood in a line behind and in front of the “bar”. I felt like an animal on display because they all kept looking at us. I realize it was probably mostly to be sure your drinks were filled, etc. But, it was disconcerting to me, as I hate to be the center of attention. My husband switched seats with me so I’d be facing the sidewalk instead of the kitchen area. This made me feel a LOT better. The food was all very good. I’ve definitely eaten a better tasting filet mignon, and my husband thought his wiener schnitzel was breaded a little heavily, and I wish there were at least one more choice for dessert, thus the four star review. The highlight might have been the warm and tender madeleines given at the end of the meal. To. Die. For. We left with two small pound cakes as a gift that we enjoyed the next day as a snack. I look forward to trying it again when we are in Easton.
Beautiful dining experience. Food and wine spectacular and quite frankly a good value for the price.
Easton is lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber in its town.
One of the most creative and innovative dining places on the Eastern Shore... with service that’s unmatched anywhere. This a great splurge place.
The salmon was superb, paired with lobster, and the tuna tartar topped with caviar was magnificent. We had a table for two on the window at the front and had no problem with noise or other conversations. Our anniversary dinner was all we hoped it would be.
We had dinner here for our 25th wedding anniversary!
We were greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne which was such a nice touch! Our meal from beginning to end was superb! We ended the evening at The Stewart for champagne and ice cream! By far the best dining experience I have had in a long time! I can not wait to go back! Kudos to Chef Harley Peet and staff! Absolutely wonderful experience!
The food was excellent. The service and atmosphere were outstanding. We savored every bite on every course.
Just when you think it can't get any better.....Absolutely the best restaurant for multiple miles around. Always exceptional but dinner last night was a notch even above that. I had a wagyu beef thin sliced appetizer that was to die for. Husband had wonderful goat cheese ravioli. For mains, I had risotto with duck confit and he had lamb. Both were creative, outstanding and perfectly prepared. (oh and dessert was the cheese course and a chocolate tort with this amazing burnt marshmallow sauce. You have to taste it to get that this was something you now want to eat every week on every dessert. The service is, as ever, professional in every way but never stuffy "you are so lucky to be here tonight" in that classic annoying NYC way (we live half the time in NYC). It reminds me of the best places like Blue Hill and Via Carota and Little Owl. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Bravo and so glad they are here.
Excellent food; just extraordinary. Chestnut risotto to die for.
While my husbands salmon appetizer as well as his salmon entree was outstanding my Wagyu burger while requested medium was served well done. All in all we love this restaurant and have only been there for lunch but we do have an upcoming dinner reservation.
Bas Rouge is a restaurant that is sophisticated without being snobby. The staff is friendly, and polite without being intrusive. I love that the portions of food are not huge, so that you don't feel stuffed at the end of the meal. All the dishes are presented in a creative way, too, and everything I have had has been absolutely delicious! All this in a beautiful setting! I love it! I wish it were open more often than just two days a week.
Amazing food, service and ambiance! We will be back soon.
Dining at Bas Rouge is always a beautiful experience!
Incredible experience as always!
Bas Rouge works hard a making your meal perfect. Excellent service, beautiful surroundings touched off with nicely presented perfectly prepared courses.
In your reservation process you ask if there is a special occasion and I said it's my wife's birthday. Since there was no acknowledgment I'm wondering why you ask.
Perfection from the selections on three course menu to the china, silver, glassware and linens to the impeccable service by the servers, maitre d, and manager. Bas Rouge is a place where you DINE. Starters of tuna tartare and lobster ravioli are what others try to do but Bas Rouge EXCELS at raising the bar on these delightful dishes. If the Dover sole is the special, treat yourself. Plating is just beautiful and portions are perfectly sized. A complimentary glass of port to celebrate my dad's birthday was lovely and appreciated. AND, if you arrive early for your reservation, head to The Stewart, just a few doors down, where they only serve single malt scotch and champagne. A treasure. Both experiences (they are owned by the same folks) were well worth the 1.5 hour drive from Baltimore. Looking forward to our return visit.
Bas Rouge had come highly recommended by friend and we were not disappointed. We agreed that it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Delicious and beautifully presented. We can't wait to go back!
Went for an early lunch (11 a.m.). Probably the best restaurant ever, with superb food, service, all at a very affordable price for such a fine restaurant. Book early, as reservations are very, very hard to get. Go. You will not regret it. Outstanding in every way!
The food was absolutely amazing. It's a price fix menu which i did not know prior to the dinner. They substituted a cheese plate for a dessert which was amazing.
This a world class restaurant. It is expensive (especially the wine list); however, you will not get a better fine dining experience anywhere!
Excellent food! Had a great time we went for our 16th wedding anniversary and they treated us with champagne and a gift. Was very nice. Only complaint was the tables were rather close together for us.
The staff was very attentive. The food was magnificent and made our anniversary celebration extra special.
Absolutely outstanding restaurant! My experience was flawless, atmosphere, food, drinks and service.
Our second visit- impeccable service, brilliant presentation, creative and thoughtful menu executed to perfection, wonderful ambiance.
One would be hard pressed to find a comparable restaurant in the top food destination big cities around North America, and here we can enjoy such superb quality right here in lil ole Easton Maryland for very reasonable price- thanks to the Bas Rouge team for a fine job- we thoroughly enjoyed our evening
A gem that evokes fine dining in NYC or Vienna or, well you get the idea. Great execution of an interesting menu with very fine service.
It's fine dining in a loving setting, but not stuffy. Food and service are exceptional. As good an experience as you'll have in any touted big city restaurant.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here in Easton....everything was perfect.....staff was very attentive in the right way. Music was even perfect for my taste. Wine list selection was very diverse too.
Fantastic dining experience. Impeccable flavors and wonderful wine list.
So lucky to have such a beautiful restaurant in the town of Easton. We will be back.
We had dinner here several months ago and were going to Easton on errands on a Thursday and we decided to treat ourselves . I made a reservation on Open Table through TripAdvisor on the Wed before.
We arrived a little early for our noon reservation and were seated at the prime window table by Deborah and were given the menus and wine list. We chatted about the menu offerings as we sipped our drinks ... my wife a nice French Sancerre... and i had a bourbon Manhattan.
My wife selected a grilled trout starter and veggie pappardelle entree.mGazpacho was my starter choice and the Wienerschnitzel as my entree. My wife's starter appeared first... three small pieces of trout with some toppings. Don't get fooled by the 'small' size, because this is all about high end ingredients and preparation. The trout hit the WOW button.
I love Gazpacho and this recipe deserves a special comment. The server puts a shallow soup bowl in front of me and it has a silver dollar sized (about the height of three of them) rounds of finely chopped yellow and red peppers and a golf ball size of something red on top, which looks a frozen tomato ball. The server proceeds to pour what looks like cold water around that concoction. Super WOW. The finely diced peppers were crunchy and the tomato ball... a tomato icy... and the clear liquid... a reduction of Gazpacho juices. Think of it as a deconstructed Gazpacho. This is one of the few times that I wished I had taken a photo of a dish.
Our entrees were perfectly cooked and delightful. It was a special dining experience.
Bas Rouge is an absolute gem from beginning to end. The menu is interesting and well executed, the wine list is extensive and well
priced, and the service is thoughtful and attentive without being intrusive. The room is a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. I really loved this place and look forward to my next meal there.
Exquisite food, service and atmosphere! I felt like I was at a five star restaurant in Vienna or Paris again! The Amuse-bouche of chicken livers was fabulous. The Lobster ravioli appetizer was delicious, as was the soft shell crab appetizer. We all had beef tenderloin which was unbelievably good! And the ice cream was absolutely amazing. One of us ordered the cherry sorbet, which we all thought was way too sweet.
All in all a fabulous dining experience! Impeccable service! My out-of-town friends were completely blown away.
I highly recommend, and I will certainly return!
Birthday lunch. A superb lunch in a beautiful setting with excellent service (Julia) . . . how can you top that?
The chef and Thad Hoy created a crescendo like experience for us. The artichoke soup and pasta with truffles were truly delicious. The artichoke soup was purely the essence of artichoke and the finest soup I’ve ever eaten. Subtle, nuanced, building to the essence of flavor and texture. Until I had this pasta dish, I never understood how people could be so fond of pasta. It was my “ah ha!” moment.
The ambiance is just so quietly elegant, supporting a refined, yet comfortable dining experience.
Our server must have been in training and was, as yet, unfamiliar with how to offer options for requests for beverages that were unavailable, responded too frequently with “no” rather than being knowledgeable enough to suggest options. It would have enhanced the experience if she was able to suggest the most appreciated and nuanced items on the menu. When describing two special offerings she didn’t specify that they were both first courses, creating some confusion in trying to place our orders.
The olive oil cake the chef sent us home with was very much enjoyed over the next two days, a happy treat continuing the pleasure of the dinner.
Absolutely go. The next time I’m certain I will ask for the chef to choose what I will have, so I have the complete experience through his eyes. I will ask the sommelier, the elegantly understated Thad Hoy, to select the wine pairings. I am already delighting with the anticipation of that evening.
As usual, we enjoyed what we think is the premiere dining experience in Talbot County. Each course is beautifully presented - works of art. From the caviar with tiny blinis, to the chocolate tart and everything in between, it was delicious and served gracefully. What a wonderful place. Chef Harley Peet even sends you home with yummy little tea cakes, which we savored the next morning. Thank you!
The food and service is ALWAYS five star!!
I was expecting so much more. The food does not live up to the hype. Very overpriced.
Wow. We’ve been so blessed to have enjoyed wonderful meals around the world. Bad Rouge is now instantly in our top five favorite restaurant’s. Incredible service but the flavors and overall experience exceeded expectations. Toutes nos félicitations!!!
Five star experience.
Beautiful environment, food, service, staff! The owner of this and the surrounding properties leaves no detail unattended. Everything is top notch.
