Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - Whitby
Service was slow and overall food was not what it has been in the past
The open concept of the restaurant makes for a noisy environment. The food was good service excellent. They first tried to seat us near a table full of 20 kids or so but we were able to quickly remedy that. They moved us to a booth as far away as possible. We will go back in the future.
Stopped by on our way home from a day out of town. The special filet and crab cake was a great deal. The steak was prepared perfectly. The restaurant, however, only carries the run of the mill garbage beer. No local craft beers.
Hi Ron, Thanks for the review, glad to see you enjoy Friday night's feature entree. In terms of our beer selection, we do have Town Brewery's IPA on tap as well as one of Brock St.'s pilsner in a tall boy. I do apologize if this information was not delivered to you from your server, but please do ask for one of those options if looking for a local craft beer! Thank you, Baton Rouge Whitby
We used to go to Baton Rouge when it first opened for many years. We found that the food, decor, service( waiting for food) started to decline, so we stopped going. I heard recently from a friend that there were renovations done and under new management, so we returned. We were not disappointed!!!!
Fantastic renovation done, great lighting , new features 😁😁😁
The food was outstanding ( I had salmon my partner had ribs) . It was a Thursday so googled wine are 1/2 price( and you get to bring the unused portion home).... we liked that!
I totally recommend to try it out if you have never been and go back if you stopped , you won’t be disappointed..
The restaurant was very nice and not loud like the Keg. My top sirloin medium was a bit more on the rare side than I preferred but I managed to eat most but did not really enjoy it. Next time, I'd have to order medium-well I think.
We were at Baton Rouge for my daughter's birthday. Excellent service, very good food. There was a small issue in the kitchen (not related to us or our order) so appetizers were a bit slow coming out, and they apologized several times and gave us free dessert. It was a quiet night (Tuesday) so the restaurant was not busy and fairly quiet. All in all a good evening.
Great food and friendly service . Like the daily specials
Only things that weren’t up to par was the lobster tail and bread rolls. Lobster tail was over cooked and a bit burnt. Also the bread tasted like burnt but wasnt burnt its self. Maybe something burnt in the oven right before the bread. I didn’t bring up the issues to the server who was very good by the way. There was a full hockey team of kids seated near by who were very loud. We were celebrating our anniversary dinner without the kids present and then had to listen to about 20 kids haha other than that everything was great
Food was excellent as was our waitress. We will definitely return.
Our server Marie was fantastic, as was the food. Our only issue was the noise level, but we didn’t let it ruin our experience.
It was my birthday family dinner. No one asked us if it’s a special occasion. After we got our first drinks and appetizers, our server, Sidney, seemed to forget about us. The food was delivered by other servers. We wanted to order a couple of more drinks, but it took a while to catch Sidney’s attention.
Regardless, we ordered our drinks and Sidney disappeared again. When she showed up, we actually told her don’t bother.
During our dinner, she never checked on us whether we need anything else.
Couple of weeks before, my husband and I had dinner at BR, and Alicia did a fantastic job serving us and making us feel special.
The service is good, the staff are friendly, they check in and there weren't any issues on waiting for something to come after it was requested. The food is excellent, everyone was satisfied with their meals and drinks. While the restaurant was busy it wasn't loud in there which was nice, you could hear your own conversation with your group, and didn't feel like it was as crowded as it actually was.
A wonderful Anniversary Celebration.
Food & Service were excellent.
Always enjoy our dining experience there. Service was excellent. No complaints.
We were seated promptly, our waiter brought our drinks and took our order then seemed to totally forget us.
45 minutes later we seen him and he said he would check on our meal, we reminded him that we had ordered a salad as an appetizer.
Another waitress brought the salad then another staff member brought our meal.
The Caesar salad had dressing on 20% of the lettuce,, 80 % was dry, he was no where to be found So we just ate it.
The ribs were very good, fries okay and Coleslaw no taste at all.
This restaurant failed unfortunately because our waiter was perhaps too busy had too many tables to service and the restaurant is understaffed.
We were visiting from BC and this was a new restaurant to us. We had great service from Craig, the food was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our night!
Great night out and great food
My booking for 4 was for a table, not in the bar and for a birthday. We ending up in a window booth in the bar and not mention from staff about happy birthday. Food was good as always . Just wonder why I'm asked for table preference and if it's a special dinner when it doesn't matter. Was asked to send my comments direct to owner. Never heard back from them ????
Love going to Baton Rouge in Whitby!!!
The only restaurant we will go to for celebrations or when we have out of town guests!
The service, food, and overall dining experience is amazing!!!!
Five stars all the way!!!!
Not like it used to be.
Fast, friendly and delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Price is in line with the Keg but without the long wait. The food choices were great and prepared as requested.
Never disappoints! Wait staff great! Husband (and I) enjoyed his birthday cookie. 🙂
Great food drinks and service
Had our anniversary diner there. Food was excellent.
Food was expensive in comparison to quality.
Waiter delivered the wrong wine.
Service speed was perfect. Never look for someone they were there whenever we needed them. Nice personality. Friendly without being to friendly. Food came a a perfect speed. Not rushed or waiting. Quantity and quality were excellent.
I have been there twice now and both times very disappointed with the food. First time I ordered a steak and I am sure it was pan fried as it had a strange taste. This time I ordered a chicken dish which came with 2 pieces of chicken along with bacon and other toppings. The first piece of chicken I ate (didn't finish) had a mushy rubbery texture and if I had been at home I would have spit it out. I was almost gagging trying to get it down however the second piece had a nice texture The bacon was undercooked so didn't even attempt to eat it. Wanted to love it in order to have another dining place but won't be back.
Everything was good except my father ordered lobster and it was horrible
Great menu, food was lovely, waitress was efficient and friendly and we could hear ourselves talk. Only down side was one steak out of three was a bit grisly, and that person managed just fine.
Went to Celebrate my fathers birthday. Waiter was very nice and the environment was great. The waiter gave my Dad and myself a free desert! (My birthday was a day after).
Great customer service! will for sure go back
Great food and great staff. Management is second to none.
Vraiment bien que notre service ait pu se faire en français lors de notre aniversaire de mariage
De plus le petit dessert gratuit était apprécié.
I used to go to Baton Rouge every month for many years and the food was good quality. Now that Cara has taken over Baton Rouge the food is consistently getting worse in their effort to cut operating costs. I think think is my last visit because there are many better alternatives.
Great service, great staff and great food (As usual). It was our Anniversary dinner and we loved it.
We had never been before the renovations but it was an actual dream of mine to go one day haha. My boyfriend took me for our 6 year anniversary and I can very much say we had a fantastic time and meal. Our waitress was above and beyond courteous and making sure our needs were well met. Our food was prepared excellently and it’s still something I’m raving about 2 days later. I got a 12 oz New York Strip and my boyfriend got the 14oz Prime Rib with a lobster tail and the plate sizes were very good. We got a decent scoop of potatoes (compared to other steak houses) and a great variety of vegetables. The Prime Rib paired with Au Jus was wonderful. My strip with the peppercorn sauce was to die for, I kept putting the sauce on whatever I could. We spent about the same amount that we would at the Keg except got bigger meal portions for the same price. Only difference is that there was no free bread haha. Definitely someplace we will go again! I wish I had taken a picture to show off of the meals!
Hi Abigail, Thank you for your review! These types of reviews and experiences are what we are here for. Hope to see you soon. By the way, we have complimentary bread when asked for. Please let your server know next time and we would be happy to bring it out to you! Again, thank you, Matthew Bogue Owner / Operator
Was a good place to eat before they closed. Now that they have reopened with a new Manager, they seemed to have hired cooks that are just learning. Be careful what and how you order your food.
Our waiter, Ryan was personable and efficient! We truly enjoyed the evening.
enjoyed the meal and the waiter was fabulous Meals were all received correctly as ordered A big plus for me Price Point OK high quality of food and of course alcohol was good LOL
I found that the food wasnt worth the price. I ordered prime rib and it was full of fat. The mashed potatoes were chunky and hard to eat. My husbands food was not top notch either for the price.
My daughter did enjoy her burger and kids menu was a great value!
