Bill's Restaurant & Bar - Guildford
Service was good, very friendly staff! We were a little disappointed that they didn’t have the food we wanted and we had to order an alternative which was very tasteless and was not worth the money. We would ideally like to go there again but after our experience I don’t think we will be doing so anytime soon.
We had a great meal but the restaurant was very chilly even with our coats on!
Love it the foods so delicious and good portions too and the staff are so good as we both deaf and they are helpful will deffo go back again
The service was very slow. We had to ask several different people to bring our drinks. Also there was a sign outside saying that eat out to help out was still going - our bill was not reduced.
What can you improve? Nothing in my view. We had an excellent experience and it was tasty and just as expected. We will book again once lockdown is over!
Lovely food and friendly waiter but we felt rushed By manager and the 50% off deal wasn’t as good as it’s made out to be.
All servers were really welcoming, friendly and attentive.
We had a lovely lunch at Bill's Guildford. When we arrived we had been seated downstairs and the spiral staircase was too much for my mother, so with no fuss we were re-seated at another table on the ground floor. We had a very helpful waitress and we all enjoyed our meal.
Green curry chicken was really delicious .
Lovely ambience, lovely staff, slow service, coffee lukewarm and weak, food delicious but ordered soft poached eggs and one was totally overcooked.
My wife and I went for a late lunch in Guildford. We go to Bill's on a regular basis.
They had a busy lunch service earlier according to one of the staff (evidenced by the fact that a lot of the mains were off the menu), but when we arrived it had quietened down considerably. Our nominated server in our opinion took too long getting the meals out to the table and twice we asked for ketchup for my wife's chicken burger, which was a pain. After that we gave up having a dessert as no one seemed that keen to ask what we wanted after giving us the menus. Let's hope it's a one off.
The servers were all friendly but the food took a long time to arrive for both starter and mains. One of the mains came out cold but we didn’t bother complaining because it’d already taken so long to come. We also didn’t receive the condiments we asked for. Overall it was nice but it was £30/head and none of us was drinking and that felt a lot for the food to take that long and not be piping hot.
We where seated down in the basement. A small room with too many guests and no fresh air coming inside. Every table was full. It was like walking into a COVID risk environment of 8/10. I should have walked out but stupidly didn’t as was seriously hungry. Wouldn’t go there again as they clearly look after their sales before guests safety. Next time it might be contaminated food - who knows.
Good food and nice setting. However, the table behind us were easily within a metre of us an no screen which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. Service was good to start but then we had to wait 30 mins for a cappuccino.
Really attentive service and good for how busy the restaurant was. Nice pancakes but not enough toppings
We thought tables were a little close together and asked to move from where we were first seated; but staff were very nice about it. Later on a group of 6 people were sat not far from us and they were very loud, however it didn’t spoil it for us.
We went off the special Halloween menu prior to 6.30pm and this was very good and provided exceptional value for money.
Waiting staff were all very sweet. Overall a good experience
A great meal with lovely staff. We used the sanitiser at the table which quite frankly was revolting !
Food was delicious
Service terrible. Took nearly an hour to get drinks which then arrived after started. Waiter not at all bothered and brought us water instead.
Waiter wrongly charge £310,000 for a share of the mean. Card declined and blocked. No apology at all.
Was very cold in there and very crammed with people. Not COVID friendly. People were sat on top of each other.
We will not be back.
Ordered drinks with our breakfast. Food arrived. No drinks. Asked twice and finally arrived after we had finished eating. Was sat basically in the corridor with people brushing past us constantly. Definitely not social distanced
I had chips that were cold and the flower pot which was not very well done. I have eaten in Bills in Canterbury and it was much better, won't rush back to the Guildford branch although I do like Bills menu, just not there.
Excellent food, atmosphere and staff although they could do with more staff.
Safety measures in place, good service, food was spot on toilets very clean Would recommend
Sadly the food was really poor, dry and tough salmon and falafel (different dishes) items were forgotten and the Covid precautions were enforced with glee by the male member of staff who ‘greeted’ us. The waitress was sweet but it was an underwhelming experience and I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant or the food. I will continue to visit The Ivy and Thai Terrace in Guildford which are both better value for money and a more welcoming experience.
We liked our time with you, helpful service and not to busy, well spaced out.
Excellent food and service as always. Can’t wait to visit again.
Lovely experience, good food and attentive waitress staff.
Relative long waits at times, but not unacceptably long.
Food was good and value for money, service was terrible.
Had to send awful expensive drink back (they knew it was bad and completely flat but sent it out anyway!?)
Service was terrible.
Had bill for 25mins waiting to pay.. had to go and find staff (who were chatting) so we could pay and leave.
Asked for a steak knife -never got one (but table near me got them). She said they had been 'busy that day and need to check if they had been polished?!
Had to wait ages for drinks.
Bill's has gone above and beyond in these difficult times to make the eating out experience pleasurable and 'normal'. The food was really good and great value for money, and the service was helpful and friendly. I had a lovely lunch and catchup with a friend I hadn't seen in a while and as the noise level was low, we were more able to talk easily than in the past, ironically. Well worth a visit.
Very disappointed with our visit. Firstly we were given a table in direct line of the door which meant we weren’t terribly warm and we were next to the bar which created a lot of noise from bottles and glasses. We didn’t ask to move as it was a busy lunchtime. We then waited over 45 minutes for our starters to arrive - nobody came to advise us of the delay, offer more drinks etc. When our starters arrived the waitress did apologise and said she would bring our mains out immediately! I politely declined as they were hot meals and would obviously have got cold. The food was OK but the overall experience wasn’t
Tables were fairly close together
Breakfast large and decent value. No quibble with substitutions.
Amazing food, great service and not too noisy. Great value for money :)
Friendly staff and delicious food... Although service was slow but staff were always busy
Food was good. My chair was practically touching the Chair behind, no social distancing!! Too crowded.
We ordered Merlot wine, we got something else which to our surprise was much dearer. Service was good, slightly late. Will not go back because of the virus situation.
Central location, friendly staff.
Good value offers.
The overall experience was spoiled when I took my grandchildren to the toilet. It was filthy. Which doesn’t inspire confidence in the general cleanliness of the restaurant.
It was a shame that the service took ages and with 2 young children it was a bit of a pain!
Food was tasty enough and the waiter was a nice chap so overall not bad
Have used Bills many times, but on this occasion it really let itself down. They were clearly understaffed and I felt sorry for our waitress who was being pulled in all different directions. We waited a while for our drinks order to be taken. When it finally arrived our bottle of white wine was Luke warm. Someone offered to put it in the freezer for a while. My daughter’s drink had so much crushed ice in it the glass was probably only one quarter full of actual liquid.
We waited about half an hour for our main courses. My beef dish (£17.95) consisted of one single rib of beef and a lot of mash. Puddings were nice. Lois were not. Was a really mediocre experience and a disappointment for our 15 year old who’s birthdays we were celebrating.
Service was a huge let down. Despite booking we waited for ages to be greeted and taken to our table.
The waiter was rude and clearly didn't want to be there. Rolled his eyes when we asked for water for the table and then had to remind him when it never arrived.
Food is what you'd expect from a Bills but service in Guidford is extremely poor.
Food was very good and arrived promptly. Friendly service. The section of the restaurant didn't have music playing and you could just about hear some in the main part of the restaurant. We were in a sort of cellar which was a lovely room but a bit too quiet.
Delicious food and staff and chef were really helpful with my food intolerances. We'll be back soon!
