We were very disappointed service was slow had to ask twice for our drinks food was Luke warm and felt very different from past visits to Bills Reading
Service and food was very poor.
We had to keep waiting for service and actually go over and ask a member of staff to come and take our order for drinks let alone our food order also
Service low score due to order taking a long time because food order did not go through to kitchen. Saw table that ordered way after us receive their food and asked about our order. Waiter did rush through the order once they realised
Cooked breakfast ok, but sausage uncooked and cold, which was off putting. Also, staff did not ask whether we wanted condiments and they only brought us one orange juice, but charged for three. Manager was helpful and sent food back for us. He also removed all drinks from the bill as an apology. We felt that staff were not on form, which is unusual for this branch of Bills.
We had a great evening and food was delicious. House wine was so tasty . I definitely recommend this place.
The service wasn’t brilliant, I was left really thirsty as I asked a few times to top up my tap water and the waiters didn’t ever come back to me. The food was delicious though!!
Our waiter was amazing. My dad had a nose bleed and he made sure he was alright before moving onto another table.
He was sooo lovely aswell a credit to the restaurant
Food had items missing , turkey curry was over cooked as was the beef rib.

Booking, checked my temperature led me to my table. We asked for the heater to be lit as we were eating outside. This was done quickly and hit very courteous and helpful. Server lady was very attentive and food came quickly. Always loved Bill’s - love the new decor inside the Reading restaurant- hoping we all get thro this Covid pandemic and life in 2021 gets back to normality. Happy Christmas to all your lovely staff.
We had a great meal at Bills, staff were attentive, thoroughly cleaning tables as customers left. Service was good will definitely be returning soon.

The food was lush i have the vegan brussel sprouts for starter very yammy and vegan Wellington again was delicious. For drinks I had an alcoholic cocktail with gin and elderflower it was very good cocktails.

Very slow service, when it didn’t seem that busy. Food arrived half hot half cold. Mistakes were made and had run out of chips.
We ordered Bills brunch and tea for two people. After 30 minutes I asked where our order was and after 40 it appeared. It was not very hot and the black pudding was missing. After all that we were automatically charged a service charge. We will not be visiting again as this is not the first time we have complained about the slow service

We enjoyed our food but my wife had to return her fish cakes as there was a stone in one of them. The Manager was most apologetic but it did mar the meal which was a special occasion.

Went for a socially distanced lunch outside. The service, whilst friendly, was terrible. Waited ages for our drinks and then only one arrived. I’d nearly finished my food by the time I finally got mine!
Food was pretty average and the boozy hot chocolates we ordered to warm us up certainly couldn’t be described as “hot”!
Although they take your temperature when you arrive, the tables are very close together! The service was friendly, although our food order was messed up they sorted it all very quickly and efficiently and were very apologetic.

First time out since lockdown and it was a goid experience. Social distancing good and food nice and staff spot on with service.
Very busy for a weekday morning. Social distancing is not practiced here. Luckily got a table at the back so slightly away from the tables in the middle otherwise would have left. Food took ages to come which is understandable if its busy but when the food came, it was barely warm. The gentleman who served us was very nice and friendly and is the only good thing about our visit. The fire alarm went off, I can understand this can happen too but the alarm went off for ages, from not long after we started eating to when we were basically finished. We asked for discount and the manager kindly gave us our drinks for free.
Our burgers were COLD , but replaced. The manager nocked off the service charge and one drink. This is not the standard we expected from Bills
Loved the atmosphere. I'm already planning my next visit to them.
This was our first visit to Bill's in Reading. Really enjoyed our meal, will definitely return.

We love to come here with our Mum & Dad ! The decor is super and the food is good . I was disappointed this last visit though as my order was not put through and this was not noticed until we asked the manager if it was on its way .. at least 5 minutes after my fellow diners dishes had been served. It’s true, this happens and can easily happen but if the staff are properly trained it can be picked up well be fire the food hits the table ! And if it doesn’t , waiting staff should no to check if not everyone has a plate in front of them ?
We will return of course but a bit of staff training , basic rules of service that should be applied to each table served ❤️
The tables were so cramped together, I don't think they got the memo on social distancing.

Love coming to bills but was a bit disappointed with the timing of the food. We sat and ordered and the food took 30 minutes to come. Other people were getting food even though they ordered after us. Was lovely but was sad about this.
The food and atmosphere were lovely. My only criticism is that we had to wait over 40 minutes for our food after we had ordered. It wasn't very busy and the staff did not explain why. Also, I am vegetarian so it shouldn't have taken long.
We have been going to Bills for years and have always loved it. However, the new decor looks more dated and the the previous decor. I feel it's a style that is on it's way out. An evolution of the previous style would have been much more fitting. Crystal chandeliers and fake taxidermy seems to me to be 10 years out of date. It's gone from earthy cool to conspicuous consumption.
The breakfast is also now only served until 11:30. I don't know if this is a permanent fixture but in our younger days the 1pm breakfast finish was often hard to make. the lunch time brunch has always been a favourite of ours and this was also a disappointment.
The nail in the coffin for me was waiting an hour for our food. A waiter did notice we had been waiting some time and went to check but didn't return to update us. We asked a manager some time later for the ETA and we were told it was on it's way. After waiting a little longer I noticed our food in the service hatch waiting to be brought out to us. In this time three other tables we served food. At this point I offered to collect it myself however the manager went to get it.
At the end we were offered an apology and given a discount but no apologised prior to this or even told us we would get a discount, it was just on the bill.
It did seem to me that most people however did get good service and we were the unlucky recipient of some bad service on the day.
Maybe it's just not for us anymore.
Disappointed by the service. The drinks didn't come until a second waitress asked us again for the order. The food came out cold, once we asked for it to be taken back to the kitchen it came out again at a slightly higher temperature but still disappointing. Overall value was way below the cost of 3 meals and drinks.
Comfortable but stressed waiting staff missed giving us chips with our meal.
I need to start by saying the staff are amazing. Customer service can still exist in these COVID times and the staff at Bill’s proved this. Happy, considerate and lovely to my 2 year old daughter who was with me.
The decor, oh my goodness it’s so pretty, colourful and funky. Absolutely love it and the atmosphere it gives to an actually very peaceful restaurant. It may not have been as busy as it would usually be but seats were still full and apart from conversation buzz it was really quite quiet.
Food was great and good value for money and my daughter ate ALL of her breakfast so that’s saying something!
Good is superb and the staff are fantastic. I love, love love it here!!!!
Lovely lunch at Bills. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was yummy. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Will be back
