Bixby's Derby - The Kartrite Resort
Inedible food, non-existent service. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
The quality of food does not meet the prices but this is to be expected at large resorts like this. The portabella fries appetizer was well fried but the batter was thick and pretty bland. My friend's "grilled" shrimp was obviously boiled frozen shrimp. My crispy-skinned salmon was more burnt skinned, and again pretty bland. The pea risotto was really just rice with peas. The waitress was very nice but pretty absent-minded too. It was a fun night and I'd go again with managed expectations of the meal.
We ate there two nights this weekend. First night we had Vicky, she was so sweet and helpful. And the second night we had Mitch! Omg the nicest man ever! Went out of his way to make our experience extraordinary. He was the best! And the pot roast is absolutely devine!!! Had it both nights!
Made a reservation but, didn't need to. It was a quiet Saturday night but, might be the time of year. Waitress was pleasant but not very attentive. Caesar salad to start. Asked to split it but all came in one bowl. Part of the salad was prepared as it should be but, then there was half of a head of romaine on top that I had to chop up myself and dish out between the 2 plates. Very odd. Ribs were good. Full rack is a very large portion so, be hungry. The hanger steak was ok. I think it was prepared earlier than rest of meals for our table because it was barely room temperature when it made it to me. Roasted Yukon golden potatoes were delicious! Kids meals are good size. The burger could be split between 2 small children. Beware of beverages....$5 for apple juice and we asked her to cut it with half water for two small kids and we were still charged $10! I'm still going to recommend this restaurant since it's the best option at Kartrite but, I am doing it with a little hesitation.
Food and drinks were good. We had a large group and were seated immediately.
This was our second time dining here and we had another amazing dinner. Food was served fast, warm and delicious, great relaxing atmosphere and very comfortable booths. The management and service staff were all incredibly welcoming and attentive. We will be sure to be back every time we visit, truly a treat after an exhausting day at the water park!
Food is fair at best...but didn’t expect much for a water park hotel restaurant. Onion soup was best thing we had.
Our child’s food was served prior to our dinner and for some that may be helpful but we didn’t ask nor were we asked.
When we received our $30x2 streaks they were cold. We added a Gorgonzola cheese that was hard and if the intent was to place it atop the streak, it would have only done so had the steaks been hot or even warm. They were cold with a surprise sauce that was not indicated on the menu. Very disappointed. The bill was over $75 and it was terrible. We were also told we needed a reserved but when asking the front desk no one was able to assist with information. Not a good start to our trip.
Nice atmosphere, and the food was really good. A little pricy, but worth it!
Sorry but the food I had was not good at all.
I ordered the NY Strip. No flavor at all. The sauce it had was the only flavor. The potatoes were soggy.
Sorry I didn't enjoying at all.
The server was great, when I arrived the person whom took us to the table was great. Many days that night all was great but the food was not
I made this reservation not knowing what to expect! Our group was 5 kids and 3 moms...we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation and we were seated within minutes in a cozy booth! Our waitress suggested a drink special...mango margaritas! Just what we needed!! They were amazing. We ordered salads, burgers, pasta. All was really good. We were in and out and off to the arcade!
The host was rude to a patron of the hotel who was asking a question. The waitress was nice but not efficient. We had to constantly ask for things, like a spoon for the soup and a steak knife for the steak my husband ordered. The steak was cold and had to be re-heated. And even after that it still wasn’t good.
The fried calamari appetizer was great. Main courses were very good. Our server needs improving.
Food and service is outstanding. Drinks are overpriced. Don't have a non screaming, annoying kid section.
The food and service were excellent. 100 times better than we expected from a waterpark restaurant. We ordered a lot of different things and they were all very good. Our server, Maria was great.
Wait time is ridiculous even with reservations They seem convinced they can only turn a table over 1 time for the entire night!! You get turned away for tables to just remain empty until the 7 or 7:30 reservations, even while u eat and when leaving the number of empty tables is mind boggling considering how many people they turn away!
Waitress Hannah was exceptional- genuinely thoughtful of the kiddies! Food was all delicious, very generous portions- price was fine too
Would return, but need to figure out the “best” time to come!
There was a drink on the menu that that didn’t have at the moment .
Food was delish for the most part. Steak and rosemary potatoes were disappointing. Ribs were awesome and same for the calamari. Great drinks!
Food was decent for a burger. Not the best I’ve ever had. Service was slow and the restaurant was not even half full. The only thing that made up for the slow service is the waiter brought out a cupcake for both kids at no charge. Brought our second round of beverages to another table and never to us. Then they tried serving someone else’s dinner to us while we had dessert in front of us. I have reservations for a second night, but will be canceling to try something else. But to be fair the service is on par with the rest of the resort.
Our server Mitchell was awesome. He was kind and great with my kids. The food was expensive since it was the only place at the resort that took reservations and the food was fine at best.
The menu was great. Hits all of the sweet spots without being too big and confusing. Others reviewed this place badly due to poor service. I found the opposite to be the case. Our waiter was great. The wait for food was not bad at all. The highlight of the night was the wine list. It was very well thought out and had some great wines for the $. Kudos to whoever put the wine list together.
Jessica was a phenomenal server!! French onion soup was really good! Outside of that, unfortunately everything else that we ordered - shrimp mac, steak, chicken parmesan- did not taste good. Please do work on make your food better as you charge hefty prices for less than average meals...thank you.
Average, predictable food. Nicest restaurant at this resort.
Good portions and most everything was delicious but my husbands medium burger was killed (very well done). Would come again though.
Great food for a family restaurant. Kid friendly
I was worried about eating here after reading other reviews but my group of 4 had a great experience. We were seated right away, our waitress was very nice and efficient, our food came fast, tasted very good, and was reasonaly priced ($65 for four entrees and a soda).
Maybe others' issues occured on busier days of the week?
Had to wait one hour for my main course order. And after all one the orders was served wrong... and had to wait for food again! Weird guy was standing in the middle of the restaurant writing down comments and looks like he was timing or counting people.. very annoying !
This restaurant has a lot of potential but our dinner and service were subpar. It’s a beautiful establishment that’s located convenient for guests at the Kartrite like for my family but the other reviewers were correct. Food wasn’t bad but sparse for the cost. But I guess that’s expected with a hotel restaurant. We had the tuna sesame sandwich, goat cheese and beet salad with chicken, salmon entree and chicken noodle soup. Few complaints. They ran out of Jack Daniels to make a cocktail and it was only 6pm. Really?! Ok not a big deal in the end. Then, Dinner took almost an hour to come out from the time we placed our order. And the biggest complaint is that the prices on the receipt did not match the price on the menu. I physically took a menu from the hostess stand and showed the waiter how some items (like my salad and soup) were a dollar or so less on the menu than what was charged. He didn’t apologize initially but it was changed after I pointed it out. I hope restaurant goers check their receipt before paying. There should not be any discrepancy.
They served us an appetizer special (pork belly) that was from the day before, it was so hard it was like eating jerky. The crispy skin salmon did not have crispy skin and wasn’t cleaned properly. The sweet pea risotto was crunchy, not creamy. The braised short rib pot roast was good. Kids Mac and cheese was good the fries were good. The server was pleasant but thought serving day before specials was acceptable. All in all it was kind of disappointing considering the cost of the meal.
Great selections! We had the ribs, salmon and pastrami sandwiches and all were amazing!
The food was excellent and the service from Victoria was great. The chef made a special dish for my wife and that made our night even better. Would highly recommend this place to all our friends. We will be back for another great meal as well as the service.
If you want a real restaurant, this is your only choice at Kartrite. It's good, not great, and the service is spotty. There is no question that it's overpriced though, as are most things at Kartrite, but you have to expect this based on the scarcity of options and nature of the resort. It lacks vegetarian options in the main entree area, but has some appetizers and salads that fit the category.
If you're at the Kartrite, it's the only "real" restaurant on the grounds. The Host was very accommodating, and helped us squeeze one more person to our reserved table. The server was very nice, but not very experienced, but got the job done. All food came as ordered and was good. Generally happy with the experience.
I was nervous coming here with the bad reviews online but everything was fantastic. Good food, prompt quick service, no wait for drinks or food and our waiter was very attentive! I would come back and eat here again. Thank you for a New Years Eve meal that impressed my whole table!
A lot of effort is put into promoting Bixby's Derby. More of that effort should be focused on the restaurant itself. The overall experience from start to finish does not reflect what is being advertised. Service was very slow and sloppy. Our waitress did not seem to be too experienced. The food was not great and we were really looking forward to it. All dishes were either cold or overcooked upon arrival. Personally, my steak was tough to chew and the potatoes that came with it seemed as though they had been sitting around for a while. The seating was very comfortable and the restaurant was nice. It is very disappointing to have a great day end on a bad note at dinner. Nothing bad to say about your establishment except for the dinner experience. We will definitely venture out for dinner next visit.
Food was not great and although the waiter was nice, brought our appetizers with entree, forgot the sides all together. No bread for the kids to start. Expensive and have better meals at a diner.
The help had know idea what waiter had what table.
The drinks took forever to get from the bar.
The waitress brought the soup for
My grand children ordered soup but took times asking to get spoon.
Food at best was so bad and I have to say I will never go back there again.
Food was not appetizing. We’ve ordered a range of meals, seems the steak and thanksgiving meals were not good at all
After reading other reviews, we were hesitant to try the. We were absolutely blown away by the great experience! Food was delicious, service was great! A special thank you to the manager! He even came by to check on us and made our visit extra special!!
First time dining at Bixbys and it definitely exceeded expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a great host and a warm greeting. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. Great wine list and the cocktail list was impressive. Definitely a twist on your classics with some fresh ingredients in the mix. We were one of the first tables in the dining room but when we left the restaurant was full with a wait in the bar area. Glad we came early with kids.Kids food came quick and sharing plates were tastefully presented. Ohh the ribs were amazing....
We will be back!
