BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse - La Mesa
Great craft beers!
Really nice wait staff and the food was much better than I expected for a chain restaurant.
Our server was attentive and the food was excellent! We came to celebrrate our husband’s service for Veterans Day....thank you for your commitment to honor them!!!
Great service for a change!
I had the fish and chips Almost all fried batter Another friend ordered the ribs with asparagus Ribs were stringy and the asparagus was very tough
Noise level much lower than most similar restaurants, thank goodness. Food was good. Service was good. Well taken care of, overall, by the staff.
Disappointed in the menu. I ordered prime rib which was good, but my green beans were very tough and unseasoned. My son ordered a thin crust pizza which he did not eat. The crust was a cracker, not a thin pizza crust and he wanted a marguarita which does not have red sauce but this item did. My daughter ordered a house salad and cheese curds, a clear sign the menu did not appeal to her either. My granddaughter ordered a sirloin steak that was extremely small. She wanted bearnaise sauce but you don't offer it. I chose BJ's because it used to offer a wide range of menu items - now you offer variations of grains and greens served as salads, a bison burger served on a parker house roll? really?? The rest was uninspired or simply had too much sugar to be appealing as a savory dish. Hope this helps but I'm not planning on returning.
Our server was grrreat! She was busy & still had time to talk with us, work stuff!!
Table was ready right away. Service was excellent. Food was amazing.
too loud to carry ion conversations w/people across he table.
We were there to celebrate my son's college graduation. We had a large group and the waitress was excellent. She was attentive, hardly letting a glass empty before refilling. The food came quickly and tasted great. My husband got the Buffalo chicken pizza and did have to ask for more Buffalo sauce because there wasn't enough on it for him, but other than that, everything was perfect.
Our waitress was very good and friendly. She helped us to enjoy the Gender review, she videoed it for us so we could all be in it.
We came in at lunch time and four of us chose items from the mon-fri lunch specials. Waitress went to find out and said yes. We could order the lunch specials. When bill came, three items were DOUBLE THE PRICE. MANY. Pricing errors!! Would not fix. We paid and left! Never will go back!! We feel cheated out of a good $50!!!!! Very sneaky place!
We made a reservation and still had to wait an hour after that time to be seated. Also, one of the orders didn’t come out until the end after everyone was done eating. The food was good but it was not worth the wait. It’s a little ridiculous that I made a reservation over the phone as well as through open table and still had to wait an hour after my reservation to be seated.
Food was abundant & delicious! Plenty to choose from, esp. since the menu has 24 pages. Our waitress was a sweetheart, always refilled our drinks accordingly. Love the pizookie for dessert! If you haven't had it yet, you have got to try it!!!
We were seated right away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There's something on this menu for everyone. Great beer selection and my kids really enjoy the home made soda flavors.
Daughters 30th birthday
Very noisy at peak time as we had to almost shout to each other in our group to communicate. BJs actually design the restaurants to be noisy as they want to turn over the tables fast so they can make more money. You don't go to BJs for the ambiance that's for sure. The food is very good for the price and if you don't mind the noise or fast turnover this restaurant is a very good option.
Despite making a reservation, we waited 15 minutes.
Once we were seated, we were not approached until we had to ask for someone to tend to us after sitting at the table for 10 minutes. We also had to ask for silverware and plates when our appetizer was brought to us. There was a crowd of servers chatting next to our table when a drink spilled and not one server even flinched. We had to flag one of them down in order to get assistance. We used our own table tables before we were given towels to clean up our spill and then didn’t even bother bringing us new ones. Overall the service was awful but the food was good.
First my Open Table reservation was cancelled 2 hours before our lunch. I remade the reservation and when I asked them about it in the store they said "sometimes our computer just cancels reservations". What??? That's crazy.
The Jambalaya was terrible. No flavor. There was 6 of us and they sat us at a table with 6 place settings but in reality it would sit 4 comfortably. It wasn't crowded so there was no reason to sit us at such a small table. About 10 minutes into the meal, we told them about our problem with lack of room and they said they would address it. This took forever. In the meantime, we were spilling water, making a mess and moving everything around every time a drink or plate arrived. Finally we cleaned a nearby table ourselves and pulled it over so we could have more room. I will not return. Also our waitress thought she was cute with her snide comments which were actually bordering on rude.
Decent but not above average. Felt slightly rushed by the server. We would/will likely return due to its proximity. Host could have seated us better given our early arrival. No major complaints but no major compliments either.
My initial beer tasted a little bit odd like the co2 lines should be cleared/attended to.
