BLACKOUT - Dining in the Dark
We celebrated a late Valentines dinner here, and have to say it was a unique experience. Our server Cheyenne was amazing, the food was delicious and we had a wine pairing that complimented the food very well. Thanks again.
Great experience. Our server Collin was great made it a fun evening for us Mx
What a fun experience! I would highly recommend dining here!
Our server was named Rosco and he was phenomenal at walking us through the whole process. He kept the mood light, even though you cannot see a thing you could hear his smile and can tell he truly loves his job.
The food was exquisite, having your sight unavailable while eating a meal allowed all of tour other senses to heighten. Everything was fresh and flavorful.
Finding out at the end what you had just eaten was a fun twist too!
Rocco was a fantastic server! Made for an extra special date night and birthday dinner. We were visiting from out of state and don’t have anything like this experience around our home. Highly recommended for a fun experience.
It was definitely a cool experience, but it lacked a little of the thrill of it all. The price is way too high compared with the food and overall experience. The food seemed haphazard in its delivery and order that it came out. I feel like because it's all in the dark, it lacked the excitement of the experience. Waiters need to be more jovial and interactive so we're not just sitting there in the dark. Improve the food! Flavorless, all tasted the same....needs to knock your socks off for the whole experience! Check in and check out process is a lot of confusion in its flow. Needs to improve!
Great experience. Staff was super!
Just go try it! Super fun! Anthony is a hilarious server!
The experience was great, service was really good and the food was delicious! What a treat for so many senses!
Food is whatever more about the experience i guess, a little over priced in my opinion
This was one of THE worst experiences of life! Disgusted by the hostess who tried to kick us out in the cold because their lobby was waaaaay too crowded (I'm sorry that's not MY fault! Its yours for obviously overbooking!). And the many bodies rubbing against mine while we waited over an hour to get seated (after booking a reservation over a week early). Then when we finally got in people were poking me in the back and brushing against me in the dark....and I had to yell to even hear my company. We couldnt get out of there fast enough....actually wasnt even able to make it through half of the courses. "Special Valentines day" was how they advertised it!! Hahahahaha more like the worst one you could imagine! Thanks for ruining my night....and it was way too damn late to go anywhere else by the time we got the hell out of there. Oh and nothing was comped hahaha we still paid the full meal and drinks!!! I think it was the manager who tried to get us to come back?! Hahahahahaa never! No thanks! I'd rather someone take my right hand!
We made a reservation for Valentine’s Day about 2 months in advance .we showed up 25 mins early and didn’t get seated till 1hour 5 mins after are reservation time .the atmosphere in the lobby was miserable it was jammed pack and I’m sure if the fire marshal was there he would have closed the lobby.people where walking out it was taking so long .they didn’t even offer us water . The food was good I must say that.
Valentine’s Day experience. They were either way overbooked or just running behind. It took an hour after our reservation to get seated. But the food and experience were great and we had a good time. I would recommend it but maybe on a regular night versus a holiday.
My hubby and I had a very cool experience! Our server, Collin was awesome and help us to not make a disaster of our blackout dining experience! We will totally do it again with more friends and family!
I gave this same place 5 stars before. I understand that it was Valentines Day but they were over booked and they rushed us through our dinner. I have been here before and the waiter to time to talk to us and we had time before each plate not this time. Each course was rushed and the waiter was gone. The food is amazing. Do not go on a holiday. There was zero room in the waiting area. We were packed in like sardines.
Dining in the dark was such a fun experience! My boyfriend and I both have dietary restrictions and we appreciated that our fabulous server, Willie, continually reassured us that our dietary restrictions were being honored even if it didn't necessarily seem/taste like it.
The wait staff did a great job at cracking jokes and keeping the whole evening entertaining. Also, the food was delicious. I would definitely go back again!
It was great! We had Anthony as our server and he made us feel at ease and kept it fun! It’s definitely different being in the dark but it was such an awesome experience
Coolest thing ever ! I'm not a plant based eater, but man, almost all of it was delish!
An experience for all.... Loved the sound and feel aspect of the dining. It takes a little adjustment period so relax.
First off everyone needs to know this is a vegan restaurant. I had no clue until we got here. Was very nervous paying this much for vegtables. So happy you have a fantastic chef. The real experience was eating in the dark. Talk about a whole new experience. Our waiter "Z", made the whole experience even better!
Anthony was a great host! Great food and amazing time. Allows you to put that damn phone away and enjoy company.
Amazing. What a wonderful time with good food and great service.
Captain Chris was a phenomenal guide to this sensory deprivation dining experience. He kept the mood light and told a story with each course. The IR lights cast a very dim glow and we kept catching glimpses of people walking by with their night vision goggles, which served to break the focus of total darkness, but the food, service, and friendliness of everyone that we interacted with made it a night to remember!
Captain Chris is the man ! My date got anxiety being in the dark & he took us back out & let us get some air. She got ahold of it and we went back in and had the time of our lives. Very fun, worth every penny. Would definitely go back anytime!
We're kinda foodies. This was fun. Go in open and you should be very happy. I felt like a little kid.
It was a great experience!! A bit pricey but worth it! The food was actually pretty tasty! Had a great time!
Anthony was simply amazing! Knows how to help entertain the guest.
We were so skeptical about going at first. Eating in the dark?! Not knowing what you’re eating?! Touching your food before you eat it?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Let’s do this!!!
The food was delicious for these carnivores, having a vegan meal was actually really good. Smelling, touching, then actually TASTING you food made you slow down and appreciate the food. Everything the waiter brought it was so good!
An experience we will never forget!!
I would recommend the experience to a friend with the caution that the cost of the drinks can take a lot of the value away from the event.
We enjoyed how you became more conscious of everything but sight.
Great experience and so much fun. Can’t give more details as people need to experience this fully. I think even if you are not a foodie don’t be afraid with the food it is absolutely delicious. I thought I was going to be still hungry but I was full and happy. I did the wine pairing it tasted wonderful in the dark. The only down side in my experience was that the table behind seems to think they needed to speak louder in the dark which was annoying
Was a novel dining experience but I would not go back. Service was great but the food fell extremely short and the meal was very expensive for the quality. Will be something I can say I experienced but I would not recommend to a friend.
Such a cool experience! We had a great time, the cost in comparison to the food wasn’t great. But the rest experience was so worth it!
Collin was our waiter and he was excellent!!!he was really good at assisting us and making sure everything went smooth! I highly recommend him!
Very unique experience! Great service and fun staff!
Besides how over priced it is, the experience, food, and service was spectacular.
We had a lunch on Sunday in Blackout. Our server named Z is gentle, attentive, and a big helper. The girl in the front desk is also very nice and helpful. We had fun time and great experience to be seated and eat in a pitch black restaurant. It's better than we expected.
THIS is it!!! You have to do this. Yes, a little different (allot different actually)!
WHO-go with fun, and talkative people...in the dark everyone just by nature gets quiet.
WHAT-unusual experience of eating and appreciating all of your senses
WHEN-kind of the beauty of it...go whenever it’s convenient and wear what is comfortable-white may not be the best idea (DUH!)
WHERE-Vegas baby..this concept doesn’t work unless you have an open mind and are most likely on vaca
WHY-awesome service...Z was our server (yes, just a letter-easy to remember)-funny, sarcastic (which we love) and took great care of us! Food-really great food!!!
Zzzzzzzzzzz super hard to spell, hard to say (NOT) guy is so good he only needs one letter! Boom!
Basically-if you are looking for an “experience”...worth the money!!!
Thank you ;)
The concept is stupid... you pay entirely too much money for food that you have no clue if you're going to like and you can't even connect with who you're with... it's an odd experience. Wouldn't do it again!
Our waiter Z was really awesome and made us feel at ease since we couldn't see anything. All of the meals were wonderful and he gave us helpful tips to enjoy the meal.
this was a truly unique experince . very fun, easier to do than expected worth going at least once
probably will go back some time.
NO SPOILERS! Read THIS review first. - Suuuuch a fun time and great dining experience! Here are my TOP 10 observations and everything you 'need' to know before going:
1. It's 7-courses (dinner service), but they don't tell you what you are going to be served (though they do take into account any food allergies) and don't ask. The unknown is a big part of the dining experience.
2. The food is very good and you will be full. I'm a big eater and there are hearty courses that will satisfy you.
3. There is a high likelihood you will try some familiar dishes and ingredients in ways you've never experienced before... in a very good way.
4. You will most likely be pretty uncomfortable for the first 15-minutes because, even if you think you're ready, being blind is tough. Hang in there, you will get comfortable. The full meal will take 1 to 1-1/2 hours. If you need to go to the bathroom (or start freaking out), raise your hand and someone will lead you out for a break.
5. It is so much fun trying to figure out what you are eating! You will learn you are not as good as you think.
6. After dinner you will see the full menu.
7. Before dining you are required to place your phone and anything else that emits light (watch) in a private locker.
8. Your server, wearing night-vision goggles, will carefully march you to your table, conga-line style.
9. Our server, William (Willy) was fantastic. Very helpful in putting us at ease and also very personable and a lot of fun. Just think about how much you actually have to trust your server when you are blind.
10. Be careful reading other reviews because you will risk spoiling some of the surprises. All you need to know is what I've written above.
