Excellent service, food was very good, nice atmosphere, staff smiled, were friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
Immediately seated by the manager, who was wonderful. Our booth was perfect and it made us feel like we were in a special part of the restaurant. Our server was fabulous and offered great suggestions from the wine to our dinner. We had the clams casino and crab cake for appetizers. Crab cake was all crab, little breading! It was perfect. For dinner, we had the Tomahawk for two. Steak was cooked medium and it was delicious. We shared lava cake for dessert, great way to end the night. Our server was attentive throughout the night as well as other staff. I can't to go back again and bring my friends.
Thank you Blackstones for a wonderful date night!!
It was a great experience! Great service, food and environment
It was cold in the dining room.
Always a nice restaurant to celebrate someone's birthday. Closest restaurant quality to a NYC steakhouse
Tables right on top of each other - basically eating with the people next to you.
Slow service (not the waitresses fault, the whole place was slow) - 25 mins from ordering until drink arrived.
Cold and drafty - 3 different couples asked to change from the table next to us because of it.
Steak was good. The sides and apps were not good.
High end steak house prices with a Texas Roadhouse vibe.
Disappointing all around and not a place I’d ever visit again.
Food was bland, all items had no salt, including the butter for the bread. We had the Tomahawk Rib eye, it was cooked well, but had no flavor at all. Baked potato had been cooked much earlier, and did not even have potato flavor.
We love Blackstone's but they often have problems keeping up on holidays and Valentines Day was no exception. The service was good, the food is always good and we will continue as loyal customers. One of the best Steak and Seafood places in CT
Not sure if they changed chefs but quality of food has gone down. Very disappointing.
We celebrated our 10-year anniversary last Thursday night, and the entire staff was awesome!
The hostess gave us a great table and even provided us with the receipt and a bag for our leftover wine (without our asking). Another host was quick to point out the bathrooms’ locations and was eager to please my wife and me.
The servers did not rush us the least and were very good (ensuring food was warm when it should be, etc.). Highly suggest giving Blackstones a whirl!
We’ll certainly be back and back and back and...
Want to preface this that the two stars are only for this visit and the prime rib. This usually is a 4 or 5 star experience. Always loved the steaks and other options. Kept seeing the special Thursday Prime Rib night and always wanted to give it a try. Will return to Blackstones but stick to the steaks. The prime rib was a HUGE disappointment. The only thing I can say is it was big. That's where it ended. The meat was not tender and also had a grain of gristle in it. Probably both the largest prime rib I ever had but also one of the worst. That said, everything else was excellent and as I have said their steaks have always been fabulous. My wifes filet mignon was perfect. Try the Blackstones salad, really good and always go for the thick cut bacon. Service is great and nice atmosphere. Should have avoided the temptation to try the Thursday special, as it troubles me to write a negative review for what has always been a great experience.
Food was great but the service was a little slow! Steak was great Tuna was overcooked
It was overbooked. Waited 35 mins past our reservation for a table. Took 15 mins to get our drinks. Steak was bland. Fish was over cooked. Soda was flat. Coffee was cold. Just not a good night at a usually excellent spot.
Great fallback when everybody likes something different -the steaks are great!
Best bartender ever. Mike was awesome!!
This was a delicious meal and a perfect place to bring my husband for his birthday. It is pretty expensive but, worth doing for a special occasion if you are like us and can't afford to go there regularly. Monique was a great server and we had a very nice time.
Lovely Sunday Night. Portions are huge, porterhouse + mac & cheese “perfect combination”
Really nice dinner! Great service! Excellent food! Good service but it looked like you needed a few more servers. Thank you for the piece of chocolate cake and a candle for my daughters bday.
Troubling. Blackstones is a quality steakhouse that consistently produces good food. The service is old school slow roll ... so if you are ready for a 2 to 3 hour commitment... you’ll be fine. What was most troubling about this visit was their inability to manage new guests while remaining attendant to those of us already there. As the restaurant got busier, service got WAY worse. We sat without drinks for long stretches. We sat with dirty dishes for long stretches. We had to fetch our own silverware in between courses. When entrees were wheeled over, one of them literally landed on the floor and had to be redone. And as the din in the restaurant reached uncomfortable levels, all we could do was push through and try to get out of there. It sucked.
Fabulous food and fabulous service
As usual, the meat was excellent and prepared just as we liked it. The service was fine and the staff very pleasant. It drives me crazy to pay $8 for a side of mashed potatoes or any potato and $8 for spinach. In my town I prefer the signature salad at Josephs Steak House over Blackstone. We had Caesar salad this time and it was way overdressed
The food and service was very good. Everyones meal came out perfect.
Our party of four had a great time having lunch in the bar room and watching play off football. We were fortunate to have the bartender serve us and she and her team did a great job of everything! The food quality is always great. This is a serious steak house. They did offer a nice reasonably price brunch menu for our Sunday visit but, we ordered from the full dinner menu to celebrate my son's birthday. A great fine dining restaurant with an excellent menu of steak and seafood.
Good but too expensive. Everything is a la carte. Steak is excellent but comes with nothing.
Our reservation and waiter were great under New Years Eve conditions. My wife and I and our two guest couples were completely satisfied. It was a wonderful evening. The waiter and the manager were outstanding!!!
Absolutely love Blackstones!! I’ve been a repeated customer for years!
I love Blackstone's! We had a nice table, the service was great, food was delicious and hot. One of the best lobster bisque soups I have ever had with actual pieces of lobster meat. food and drinks are pricey but this was a special occasion. They were kind enough to bring some dessert out to my son for his bday with a candle and they sang to him. Loved everything about it and would return again.
We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner at Blackstones Southport! The food was truly outstanding- each oldish was expertly prepared and portions were ample. Our entrees included steak, chicken, and salmon and out sides broccoli, Brussels sprouts and spinach. We all were very happy with our meals and definitely plan to return. Apart from a minor issue with timing the service was wonderful.
Fablous steak and chicken cutlet parm as well as the soups. Kids loved it as well. Great value for a upscale steak house
Reprehensible and irresponsible. Told our waiter Carlos on arrival I had a nut allergy. Requested house salad without pecans. He confirmed. When delivered I asked to confirm no nuts. He said it told the kitchen.’ Short story...pecans in my salad. No apology. No asking if I was OK. Saw Carlos tell manager. Manager didn’t come over.
Anaphylaxis is no joke. For $40 am entree I would like to know I am safe. Merry Christmas.
Decent food but overpriced, slow inattentive service, not recommended
Great food and even better service. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Service was inattentive and slow. They were obviously understaffed, though the dining room was not completely full. A steakhouse like this needs better service.
Food was terrific. Caught off guard and really disappointed when felt pressured to order everything from apps to mains to sides at once by “request of the kitchen”. The size of the apps is huge (which is a good thing) but it would have led to us sharing mains instead of ordering each individual. Service otherwise was ok, not the friendliest. Overall great ambiance, food is terrific and a entry / exit is solid. It’s the second time I’ve been in and both times the service was lacking. Chalked the first one up to it being fairly newly opened and one waiter splitting a huge table and our table of four. Gave that a pass so decided to come back. Not sure I’d return again until the service/kitchen situation is resolved. I’m a frequent diner at steakhouses, etc and the order everything at once command was a first.
Outstanding meal. Excellent service. Will most certainly return.
First time we've been although live around the corner. Had been looking for a night with dinner at the bar for two, and this was exactly what we wanted. We didn't have steak because we were having it the next day, so we opted for chicken and tuna-great, and the wine--we will be regulars now! And can't wait to try to actual steak.
Service was friendly and atmosphere was relaxing. The food was fantastic. My husband ordered the bone-in rib eye and I ordered the sesame crusted tuna. We are looking to go back and try more items from the menu.
Excellent food served impeccably by well-trained staff. A nice setting for a formal dinner.
Thank you so much for making my husband's birthday dinner so enjoyable. Truly was a wonderful date night for us.
