BLT Steak DC
BLT's ambiance is what you would expect of any busy upscale restaurant in the city. The cowboy ribeye and grilled branzino were underwhelming considering the cost. The wine list was impressive with a variety from $1800-$45 a bottle. We decided on a $100 bottle of Bordeaux to compliment our dinner. All in all, the evening was an enjoyable one. The host, wait staff, chef, and sommelier were absolutely delightful.
On the down side, it was loud, the popovers were over baked, and the service was slow as we spent several minutes (10+) staring around the table at the finished plates with no serving staff to clear - twice, after appetizers and entrees.
On the up side, the popovers were still yummy, the steaks cooked to perfection, and the lobster Cobb and wedge salads were really good.
Amazing! Go to DC Steak house for family dinners! Nothing better!
The Staff is fantastic. I listed in the OpenTable notes that this was a birthday celebration for my husband. BLT thoughtfully had menus printed with my husband’s name at the top. Just a small touch that goes a long way. The service was impeccable and the food even better.
The service was excellent, but it was so loud that you couldn't hear the person right in front of you unless you also were shouting. Also, the lighting is so dim that you could see everyone looking at the menu's with cell phone lights, not to mention the print was wearing off and the type font was very small.
The service was outstanding. Appetizers were very good and the complimentary po overs were delicious as well. Very nice wine list. But the steak was tough and lacking in flavor - each person at our table had a steak that’s was less than desirable. Domestic wagyu was not nearly worth the price tag. And the “local” aged beef was tough and over cooked.
Awesome! Steaks, seafood, pop-overs......all taste great. It is a little pricey, but a great experience and dinner!
Excellent Service - Good Food! We had a great waiter! He stepped up the customer service even more when I mentioned how much we loved Mastro’s.
Meet my son there for dinner when I’m in town. Always a great overall experience with the atmosphere, service and the food. I highly recommend it!!! Nick
Good experience. Great popovers.
Wonderful experience from the moment we first stepped foot in the front door to our complimentary glass of champagne to cap off our anniversary. #datenight #bltstrakhouse
Love the place but got overcharged for the special dessert which was listed as $9 and was charged $16. Otherwise, for some reason that night, service was not that great and when the server asked if we where ready to order, we said "yes" and then she proceeded to tell us she would be right back!
Just fabulous food! The steaks were among the best I’ve had. Luxurious restaurant and setting. The ambiance improved when the sun set. There is an abundance of staff that take care of you perfectly without interrupting your meal. Will dine there again! Worth the $$$$.
Had to send the steak back; too long a time for it to come back and even then it wasn't cooked properly. Asked for medium rare; first time came back medium well; second time came back super raw. Nothing was offered for the inconvenience of eating my meal when my friend had finished his. There are much better steakhouses in DC
Great dining experience A+++
This is always a great venue for lunch as the location is great and the food is delicious. It is on the more expensive category, so it is most appropriate for business-type luncheon meetings.
It was a dinner for a birthday, and the food was delicious, the staff was helpful and the group had a great time. Thank you.
I've been to countless high-end steakhouses, and in my opinion BLT is slightly overrated. My girlfriend and I both ordered the NY strip steak. It was cooked just fine, but the meat was tough. It was not worth the $55 price tag. While we were eating, the manager came over with a small gift from the chef. He stated "try this and I'll tell you what it is". So my girlfriend and I went ahead and tried it. Come to find out the dish is cow tongue. It actually tasted pretty good, and I'm very willing to try new foods. My girlfriend on the other hand wasn't very fond of it. It weirded her out. It was very nice of the manger to give us a complementary dish, but with the dish being cow tongue, he should have made that more clear, as not everyone is very keen and willing to try it. My girlfriend was not happy. I said something to the manager about it, and he was polite and understanding of the situation. After a couple minutes the chef came out. He stated "so what was wrong?", and I went ahead and explained the situation. And then he proceeded to argue, stating how it was meat. (Cow tongue is a muscle). I mentioned how I understand his point of view, but it is a muscle. He then proceeded to look at my girlfriend and stated "so was your steak good then?" in an extremely rude demeanor. Moral of the story, if you are serving someone cow tongue, you should probably state what it is, because some individuals are not going to like it, and lastly, the chef is extremely rude. Overall, if you're in DC and looking for a good steakhouse, I do not recommend BLT. I recommend The Palm DC for a good steak.
While I wasn't overly impressed with this location, the food is great, atmosphere is good, and overall it is a delicious spot to get dinner!
All you expect from a good steak house! very professional
We had a nice table near the front. Not crowded with others. Our server was excellent; a good balance of competent and funny. Our food was good—the steak was a little dry and I don’t like sauces. The seafood bouillon was good the popovers were amazing!!! We also had mushrooms, kale, and Brussels sprouts; all good. The peanut butter chocolate mousse was wonderful and carrot cake was fine. We appreciated the menu that said Happy Anniversary.
We visited DC several times while our son was doing an internship there. Each time we made it a point to return to BLT. The service and food are consistently outstanding. Our waiter Kevin was a pleasure to work with during this last visit. Ambience is quiet if you go around 6-6:30, thereafter it does get noisier. I would recommend BLT without hesitation.
One of the best filets I have eaten. Entire evening was exceptional!
As always great food and service
Great food, great service. It is a little pricey, but worth every penny.
Food was outstanding, service very unorganized! Noisy too!
Great food, great drinks and great service. One if the best birthday dinners ever.
Rib eye for both of us that ordered it was cooked properly but tough and tasteless. Very disappointing for a restaurant like this.
Food was excellent and wait staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted in the way of sauces and sides.
Superb food, excellent service and good value. In fact, one of the best places we ate whilst on our recent trip to America. Thank you!
It was my son’s birthday and they made it extremely special.
The steak is excellent. The sides are variable.
Great steaks and nice fish selections for those who don’t like beef. Sides are terrific but really too small for table sharing. Nice desserts. Good wines, but $$$$. Lovely place for a special night out with friends are family.
BLT was our of both the Bronzino and Wagyu Skirtsteak. To accommodate the order we made but had to change, we were given AMAZING onion rings, Brussels
We had a wonderful dinner Saturday night. Waiter Ricardo was very attentive and made great recommendations. Got a little noisy as the evening went on; the restaurant was packed.
Food was fantastic, service was completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. Cocktail orders were inaccurate.
Our group of 10 had settled up and were about to leave. As we leave the manager comes out and dramatically explains that they made a mistake and that they needed our cards and receipts back as they had made a mistake and had slightly undercharged us. We explained that we had already settled up and were in the process of leaving. The overcharge amount was slightly over $100 on a total tab of $1000.
The fact that a fine restaurant like this made such a scene with 10 patrons over $100 was absolutely ridiculous. They should have absorbed the mistake and sent us on our way. Instead, a large scene was made and 10 patrons left with a bad impression of the place. A real shame as the food was wonderful.
In a city with multiple choices for high end steaks, this isn’t any better than the rest. The services was spotty. We had trouble determining which person was our primary waitstaff. Popovers rather than ordinary bread is a nice touch. Desserts were average. Be prepared for one of the loudest dining rooms in DC.
Fantastic meal and service. The restaurant was fairly noisy (nosier than other BLTs we have been to). But overall the experience was fantastic. It’s pricey, but on par with high end steak houses and this is definitely at the top of my list of places to go for good steaks.
Guarantee you won’t be disappointed
