Blue Bear - Racine
Small venue with good food. I loved the Keto choices.
Out waitress, Alexa, was very good and very attentive! She seemed like she really enjoyed keeping everyone happy!
She would get a 5* rating!
However, we waited at least 1/2 hour for our food with no explanation to why it was taking so long. We could have waited that long for a seat and not used open table..
That was very annoying.. glad we did not have some where else to be.
Food was very good. The up-charges for keto friendly dishes seemed high. Food was very good but it did take a while to get it after ordering.
Nice small very intimate farm to table restaurant. Vegan cheese appetizer, rishi hibiscus tea, veggie lasagna were all good. Construction makes getting there interesting.
Worth EVERY bite! This is where I want to go when my husband says he will take me anywhere I want to go. Best vegan dishes ever. Their dairy free and gluten free mozzarella sticks fooled my husband! I always leave so satisfied. Yum!
Cozy little restaurant with great food. It is very small and reservations are a must. They have a very efficient system for managing their tables and I appreciate being able to make a reservation for breakfast/brunch. The food was very fresh, wonderful breakfast potatoes, great omelets, lots of choices for vegetarians.
Let me just say, I am rating the food, ambiance and more based on past visits, not this one. I say that because, we did not even get a chance to eat there this time. Funny thing, we set up a reservation through OpenTable that morning for a 12 (noon) slot. They had plenty of open slots, btw. When we arrived to the restaurant, at 12:00 exactly, we notice there is only 1 open table. When the host walked up, we mentioned that we had a reservation for 2 at 12:00. She let us know it would be a small wait but was reassuring. Immediately after the host told us it would be a few moments, another lady walks over. I am assuming she was a floor manager or something. She proceeds to tell us that it will be a 15 minute wait for our table that we reserved. I reiterated that we set up a reservation online for 12:00 in which she replied, "Well, when you set that online, sometimes it doesn't line up and we have no control over that." I then asked about the 1 empty table we saw. She said that it was for a different reservation and pointed to a man waiting on the porch for his party to arrive. This was upsetting because we have a reservation too and we were there, ready and on time. She then proceeds to tell me that there is nothing she can do. At this point, I did not want to wait the additional time and started to leave. She calls out to me and said the reason we didn't have our reserved table is because some other reservations came in LATE and they seated them. My question was, why take my table and I am on time. If they were late, why not check to make sure there are no upcoming reservations coming in soon to ensure that you are not penalizing the people who are on time. This lady was very rude and very dismissive of my concern. I have always RAVED about this place. I have sent them a TON of customers. Now, I am regretting that. I am frustrated with how I was treated for being on time. I was not wrong for not wanting to wait past my time nor was I rude; but I was treated crappy.
I am an avid customer of Blue Bear so whenever I have the opportunity to bring new people there, I jump on the opportunity. The vegan options are the best and I don't get that option from neighboring restaurants so I am always happy with the delicious vegan options. Everything always tastes fresh!!
Very small restaurant and ambiance was kitschy/coffee house type. Food was good and quite a variety for midday Saturday. I think the salmon Benedict got the best rating at our table!
Amazing food! Simply amazing! Love the Keto options! Will be back! ;)
Food was great! So we’re the Bloody Mary’s! Will go again
First time at Blue Bear. Food was unique and delicious. Can’t beat the price for the quality and amount of food you receive. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Atmosphere was energetic yet not obnoxious. Only minuscule complaint would be is that we had four people in our group and table could have used a little more elbow room. Can’t wait for my next visit.
Great food and service!! Excellent and will come again.
the food was great! I loved salmon Benedict on a potato pancake, outstanding!
Excellent food excellent service great atmosphere. Excellent vegan and vegetarian menu along with an excellent carnivore menu as well. Never have had a terrible experience ever hear
Great for the allergies crowd. Menu is diverse and different from anywhere I’ve been.
Great Valentines Day 4 course meal. Food is always top quality and fast, attentive service even though they were extremely busy for the Holiday.
Weekend breakfasts are always great too when we make the drive up.
The food was exceptional, apart from the salad I ordered which was mostly stem pieces of lettuce and far too many craisins for a salad. However my other courses were absolutely mouthwatering and I had to force myself to put the fork down and force myself to stop eating.
The service was very friendly, however I was never able to order a second drink because the waitress was never at our table for longer than it took to clear our plates. BUT it was Valentine’s Day and also very crowded so I give the benefit of the doubt that she was doing the best she could.
At the end of the day, (er, night) I had a wonderful night as did my beautiful date. I would highly recommend to the young couples looking for a nice little romantic locale.
My compliments to the chef.
Don't think, just go here. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Doesn't matter. Blue Bear is the best.
DUCK CLUB 🤤
Great meal- they offer a dedicated gluten free fryer. Delicious fish fry and salads.
Another terrific experience at our Bear. We come here a lot because my wife is Gluten Free and this place is well versed in gluten free. It is really nice to be able to order pretty much anything on the menu, appetizers like spicy cauliflower and entrees such as chicken fried steak, fried chicken or Benedict plate as well as desserts that are not only gluten free but creative and incredibly tasty! Thanks Blue Bear. By the way, the staff is pretty great too-
If you are gluten free, vegan or keto - Blue Bear is a must! I love being able to order off the menu without having to tell the server to hold or change half the meal. Even if you don't have special dietary needs, you will love the unique menu options and flavorful food. I love that they also locally source when possible and are environmentally conscience. The dining room is very small, so definitely make reservations.
We've been here for breakfast on several occasions. The menu is great. The food is awesome. Really attentive staff. Love it!
The Blue Bear never disappoints. The atmosphere is fun, the food is amazing. Highly recommend.
Daughter has celiac and they came recommended....fabulous food all around!
Food was good overall but slightly pricey due to possibly more expensive ingredients. It’s a small place so even with reservations we waited 10-15 minutes for our table since they had to wait for a table for 4 people. Drinks were good and they didn’t put in my brother’s order by accident but he didn’t have to wait to too long for it. It’s good but could add up if you are modifying or adding to your meal.
Great experience. Will definitely be back
Great food. Nice staff and friendly owner.
I will go back and I live in North suburbs of chicago.
This restaurant is by far the best in Racine hands down.
Hands down one of our favorite Racine restaurants. Food is always delicious, fresh, creative, and so flavorful. Really appreciate their willingness to customize everything for different diets, and service is always great.
Excellent food. A great, relaxed atmosphere.
Pancakes are light and fluffy and not the run of the mill. The Garbage Pile sandwich is outstanding!
My friend had the Salmon Eggs Benedict and gave it rave reviews. I highly recommend Blue Bear!
We've been here a few times for brunch and once for dinner and have really loved the food and drinks. This time for dinner I wished the prior consistency would have shone through. The poutine lacked the sauce and cheeses mentioned on the menu and their signature Blue Bear Benedict didn't hit the mark. The wings were a highlight and the other two diners said their Kale Salad was overpowered by garlic and lemon and the burger was OK. A real concern was the drinks...beers and wine were perfectly fine for the group, but my supposed top shelf vodka tasted like water and another drink did not have anything but mixer in it. I like this restaurant and will come again for lunch or breakfast, but will skip for an evening out.
