Puerto Rican Style Tripe And Rice Stew
3 Fried Plantains
Went to this place on a whim and wanted to try something new. Wow, what a hidden gem. Small place but the food was outstanding. Had no idea what to order, but took recommendations from the server and we weren't disappointed. We will definitely go back to try some more of their menu items.
Great restaurant. Most authentic PR restaurant in the Portland area
Amazing food and service. The workers even stayed and was talking to us
We were very excited to try this restaurant as new to us in Beaverton which desperately needs more foodie places! Service and ambiance were great. We had pork chop which was very dry and altho I didn't internalize it would come with the pig hide on it. The roasted pork was good. The beans were good and the rice was very dry. We are thinking maybe it the style of food that we didn't love as the experience was pleasant. I would recommend trying it for anyone. Maybe it wasn't a good night for us.
Nice place. Noise level high . Food good and reasonable.
It was wonderful to be surrounded by wonderful people while eating wonderful food.
What a beautiful little spot. It smells good and there was some lovely Decor on the walls. Puerto Rican music playing softly in the background. I believe the owner was at the cash register and was really into the music and it was nice to hear him humming along once in a while. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I made a reservation, which didn't seem necessary during the week however since I had never been there before I thought it best to cover my bases. It is located on a busy street but they have done a great job to remedy that by putting up a live bamboo wall in between the windows and the cars. I did not hear the cars at all. The owner found it was my birthday and brought me out a piece of flan adorned with a little candle. I really liked it. I enjoy restaurants that aren't overly crowded as well especially nowadays
Authentic Puerto Rican food. Knowledgeable and friendly wait staff. Highly reccomend
Great food and great service! Will definitely come back.
So glad we came across this place! Definitely one of our favorite restaurants and takes us back to Puerto Rico every time we go!
This is a wonderful restaurant with great food and lively ambience. Loved every bite of the pastelon and arroz con pollo. Also had a soursop daiquiri that was outstanding. My only regret was not saving room for the deserts but that will be rectified the next time I go.
this is restuarant is a hidden gem. everything was amazing from the food, to the service, and decor.
If you love flavor with a home cooked meal ambience then this is the place to be! Great service, great food, great restaurant. Looking forward to the next visit:-)
We always have a great experience with the owner and he is so friendly and the
Service is awesome. Food is delicious and very authentic from what I am told by those in the know.
Food and drinks were great as always. Service was great as well.
Haven’t had Puerto Rican food in many years and this place definitely cured my cravings!!!
A cute place with tasty, unique cuisine and luscious tropical drinks!
Mofongo was good. Jugo de mango was very good as well, pork was nice and tender and the empanadillos were good as well
Really good food in a place that I've driven past for years without consideration. Price is decent, a good spread of food and generous portions to boot.
This was our first time at Boriken, and we will be going back often. I must have more mofongo! I had the mofongo with skirt steak and it was life-changing, much like the three table sauces, especially the spicy vinegar.
Good for a tasty change of pace!
Food and service were both very good. Ambience was very pleasant as their outside patio was so private and seemed like a tropical paradise.
Service was excellent, if a lottle slow. Server was lovely and charming. Pina Colada was thr best I've ever had.
However, i ordered the pork chop, and despite asking it to be cooked as rare as possible legally, it was so overcooked that half of it was inedible. BF's steak very tough, but garloc sauce was good. That was super disappointing.
Drinks were incredible, as were the pastries so we may go back for those, but I probably wont eat there again.
Pork mofongo and chicken mofongo with the buttery garlic were outstanding! Super simple dish with fantastic flavor and texture! The potatoe ball with ground beef is so light and flavorful it was made even better with the red hot sauce and mayo making excellent. Fried sweet plantains were done to perfection! Without a doubt we will be back more often! The worst part of the meal was when it was gone. Full bellies and smiles on our faces!
Must try in Portland!!! I have tried many of their dish and it is utterly AMAZING!!!
This was our first time here, and we were not familiar with the food or menu. The service was helpful and friendly, and they explained the different food to us and made great recommendations. I highly enjoyed my visit here with my family, and we all enjoyed our meals.
I was SUPER THANKFUL Brookner could accommodate SUCH a large group so last minute. It was the first time I was there and I will definitely be going back. It’s a place where the pickiest of toddler eaters to grandparents can be happy with all the food. It was kind of a wait to get our order in but that was expected given the dinner rush. The Boriken staff thanked us for our party’s patience and that was definitely appreciated.
Great food, friendly service. I love pretty much everything here but especially the empanada and pernil stuffed avocado.
Fantastic food, the service was cheerful and knowledgeable and I will absolutely be back.
Had the Carne Cebollada which was perfectly seasoned. The plantaines were divine! 5 estrellas
Great food, server was very helpful in describing the dish, and selecting entree choices.
Amazing food & experience, will definitely be back!
The good was not fresh nor puertorican. We had the trimonfongo, I was told it was good, so had to try it. Was unfortunately disappointing. Even the drinks were not good, had a mojito.
Might give it another at some point
First time visitors for myself and 5 other friends and we LOVED it! We got a variety of things-Pernil, pork chops, beef stew, and 3 chicken dishes along with appetizers and almost everyone's plates were clear by the end. The beans that came with my chicken were so good and flavorful I dunked everything in the sauce! Next time I'll get extra beans. Drinks were also excellent-I got a Carribean Romance and it was sweet and delicious. My friend got a passionfruit mojito which was also really good. We all agreed we would be back! Thanks Boriken for the delicious food :-)
This may be my favorite restaurant. It’s absolutely delicious and the ambience is comforting and homey.
Loved this family operated restaurant. Will be back.
Excellent food and service. The waitress was very nice, helpful and took great care of us. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Easy to find, wonderful ambiance, very helpful waitress who slowly warmed up to us as our meal progressed. I much prefer someone being themselves than someone giving me contrived hospitality. She stopped by several times to check on us, happily spoke Spanish with my husband, and I never felt like she was bothered by having to speak English with me. She was lovely. 80’s salsa music was playing while we dined, which was wonderful as we listen to that at home sometimes.
We ordered several things to have there and to take home, and every item except one was amazing: alcapurrias, bacalaitos, carne guisado, rice and beans, churrasco stuffed mofongo, flan, tembleque, and a cocktail specific to Puerto Rico called Chichaito, which was very sweet but unique and delicious with the food. We also took home some papas rellenas but sadly they were very bland. The potatoes had no flavor, not even salt, and the ground beef inside did not taste seasoned. Everything else was so delicious, though. The mofongo was moist and the filling went all the way to the bottom. My skirt steak was tender and flavorful along with peppers and onions with the ajillo sauce. My husband finished his carne guisado later that night at home. He was born and raised in PR and said the food was as close to the island as he’s ever found in the states, especially the rice and beans. Oh, and they have PR coffee! From San Sebastián, I believe, and you can taste it. It’s the only time I’ve liked black coffee, and my husband said it reminded him of having coffee and bread at his grandma’s house. It was delicious. They are pretty pricey but when you’re almost 4000 miles from the source and the food/service/atmosphere is this good, it’s absolutely worth it. They get very busy on any given night so take advantage of the reservation seating on their website! It’s very easy and ensures a smooth dining experience. We went early at 4pm and it was starting to fill up when we left around 5.
As a Puertorican I have high expectations when it comes to our food. This one exceeded my expectations when it comes to taste. Made reservations and showed up 10 mins early and was seated right away. The staff was awesome and the food was great. The waiter even made recommends which turned out to be better than we thought. Would definitely visit again and recommend as well. Great job representing our excellent cuisine!!!
